The chef's tasting menu was stellar. Each course was timed perfectly. Service was excellent. The wine pairings were ideal. Luis did a great job as sommelier. I continue to highly recommend 1919!

Despite how amazing of a time I was having with my wife celebrating my 35th birthday with my wife and some friends in Marea Bar before our reservation, sitting down at 1919 this time (after an amazing experience four years ago) was anything but. In two whole hours, we were served two courses of a four course prefix, with the wine pairings coming 25 minutes before each course was served, there was a lot to be desired. Upon asking what was going on, we were told that the kitchen was backed up out, however, the restaurant wasn't even half full. After another 30 minutes waiting for our third course, beef for her and duck for myself, it finally arrived, and the duck was impossible to cut through while the beef was just above room temperature. Upon talking to the manager, Bryan, we were dismissed as if we were unimportant and were told thank you for stopping by. He smiled slyly as if he knew that this happens often. It's clear that this is not a one night problem, but that this is a regular problem at this restaurant. You can tell by the other reviews that it's not that the kitchen had a bad night --they're having a bad year. So if you're staying at the hotel, the hotel is lovely. But if you're planning on dining at the hotel-- don't do it. With family in the restaurant space (including Michelin star holders) we expected a certain level of service, that was totally unmet by the staff and the fare at 1919.

There were four of us, and we shared the tomahawk steak along with sides (potatoes, Brussels sprouts) and some oysters. Flavor-wise, everything was solid. That said, I'm big on temperature! Especially at their price point. The steak we ordered medium rare came out very rare and lukewarm, not hot, and the Brussels sprouts weren't hot either. When we mentioned it, the server seemed to anticipate the issue, which made it feel like the food may have been sitting. To their credit, they tried to make it right, bringing out additional dishes (including their arroz con con with an egg on top) and were very apologetic, which I appreciated. Still, the bill was over $400 without extras, and for that level, consistency matters. Not quite a 5-star experience, but it has the potential to be with better quality control in the kitchen.

The menu includes a five course prix fixe menu for $115 per person. The ambiance was nice but I think they could modify the inside of the restaurant. It felt like I was dining in a conference room. However, every single staff member and the service here was 100% amazing-- they even offered me a cashmere scarf to borrow since I was cold. You don't get that kind of service anywhere! First course was started off with canapes served with buttery soup and their warm selection of breads with sea salt and butter on the side. There were also some light bites that were brought to us to salivate our palates, which included a bite-sized everything bagel and cream cheese, a small item topped with tobiko, and a bite sized salted caramel pastry. Second course, I had the Hamachi Crudo and my husband had the hand-cut beef tartare. The hamachi crudo was very fresh. The beef tartare blew me away. It was half cooked and mixed with truffle egg dressing. Ugh it was like a party of delicious flavors. The beef tartare was probably my favorite out of all the dishes! Third course, we had the seafood risotto. There was ample amounts of lobster, shrimp, and calamari in the dish. Only complaint was that there was some bits of lobster shells in the risotto but hey, that's how you know it is super fresh and it did not come straight from a can. Fourth course, I had the sea scallops and my husband had the filet mignon. Both dishes... amazingly good! The scallops had a perfect sear and tasted very fresh. The filet mignon was not chewy and cooked to perfection. There was a crispy layered potato served on the side that was also very flavorful of butter. Fifth course, I had the citrus panna cotta and my husband had the flourless chocolate cake. Both desserts was a nice cherry on top of our meal. Needless to say, this place was nothing short of amazing. My husband and I will definitely be 100% returning!

Hidden gem meets birthday bliss…read more We stumbled upon this magical little garden of yum during our birthday trip to Puerto Rico, staying right in the heart of Condado. After a long, sandy stroll along the beach, sun-kissed and parched, we wandered the streets in search of a place to sip and snack--and boom! Dulcesalado appeared like a mirage... but real. We grabbed a seat on the leafy patio where the walls are literally alive. Think secret garden meets tropical chic. You half expect a fairy to bring your cocktail. Instead, we got an incredibly sweet waitress who treated us like cousins she actually likes--warm, attentive, and full of great recommendations. Let's talk drinks and bites: * Iced Hibiscus Tea - Floral, chilled, and refreshing. Like a spa day in a glass. * Tamarind Martini - Sweet, tangy, dangerous. I wanted to drink it and bathe in it. * Watermelon Sushi - WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT?! Sweet, savory, crunchy, and completely unexpected. I'd fly back just for this. * Apio Pancakes with Shrimp - These lil' cakes were fluffy, and packed with flavor. I would 100% slap my mama for another bite (sorry, Mom). * Scallops in Cream Sauce - These scallops came to seduce. Tender, buttery, luxurious. Gourmet without being fussy. The vibe? Effortless. The food? Elevated. The drinks? Dangerous. If you're in Condado, run--don't walk--to this verdant oasis. Dulcesalado is that perfect mix of "vacation indulgence" and "why don't we have this back home?!"
