Solid three stars for this place, and not a twinkle more. If you really need some Mexican food and you are in the neighborhood, then El Hacienda will do. First the good. The guacamole was pretty good, not great but good. It could have used more citrus. We ordered the enchiladas and the kids had the fried chicken strips, which were mysteriously served with an Asian sweet and sour sauce. Those were delicious, though out of place. The enchiladas we pretty good, but not great and could have used more sauce. The black beans and rice were pretty bland. Service was average, but not up to the standard we have come to expect in Barcelona. It made us feel like we were back in the States, which was not a good thing. It was efficient, but not terribly friendly. The place was mostly empty. Our bill totaled 52.50 € for the four of us. I thought it was a bit overpriced for what we received. With all of the great places to eat around El Born, you can skip this place. read more

I give this place 4 starts bc I think the food is not so awesome! But there are really awesome dishes like for instance the carnitas which has really amazing meat! Nachos are around 9,2€ and it is not super amazing, they do get profit with this dish! In terms of cocktails there are really cheap drinks but of course are not the best alcohol in the house! Prices of frozen Margaritas are 4€ and for regular mohito is 6€! There is also Micheladas wich is a typical mexican drink! It is always crowded, everytime I go the frour or fice tables outside are full and inside there are many places taken! But still there is always place inside! The deco is cool and with an azteca and mexican mix style! All colorfull! About the service they have always been kind with me! I have been there many times and always super respectful and kind! I don't give the 5th start bc of some small things such as: terrace closing at 12am bc of the neighborhood. Also the alcohol of the margaritas can be sometimes bad taste and also the prices of the dishes i think can me a bit overvalued! Traditional Mexican eats in an area concentrated heavily on Spanish cuisine. Ate here a few times, and really enjoyed them more and more each time I was there. Nachos are a MUST, and should be accompanied by a frozen raspberry margarita (at the waiters recommendation). Had both the pulled pork and chicken tacos, and although both were phenomenal, I preferred the chicken far more! Decent service, spent about 20 Euros between food/drinks/apps each time I was there! I went here to eat on a week night and really enjoyed La Hacienda. It is located in a fantastic neighborhood in Barcelona, which made walking around after my meal fun. Even though it was an off night, there were still plenty of people eating, although I did not have to wait at all for a table. The decor is very festive with tons of space inside so you are not sitting on top of the table next to you. The lighting is very dim so it made reading the menu a bit difficult. Because of its location the food and drinks were a bit more than what I would have liked to pay for Mexican but naturally that's what you get when you go to a touristy area. The food was fantastic! I got the quesadilla platter, which came with four different types of quesadillas, guacamole, and salsa. I also ordered a mango margarita and I have to say it was one of the best margaritas I've had in Barcelona yet. The drinks in general are not too strong but still have all of the flavor you are looking for when you order them. There is free WIFI, which is great for travelers and the staff all speak English. They also have English translations on the menu. Definitely a good place to stop in if you're craving Mexican in Barcelona. read more

I originally stopped into the restaurant for beer and to watch the Real Madrid match. As time elapsed, my eyes were glued on the many dishes people were eating. Two stars for the nice interieur. That's pretty much everything nice I can say about this place. The waiter was completely overchallenged with the number of guests he had to wait upon. It took a grotesque 12 minutes before we were even asked if we wanted the menu or only drinks. While looking at the menu we tried to order drinks, without great success. Afer putting our orders (enchilladas with red chillies for me, quesadillas pollo for my s.o.), the waiter first could not remember our drinks, then confused them. Our food arrived after a pretty long time, only partly hot and, on my part, wrong. I ordered red chili sauce because I don't like cilantro leaves. What I got was enchilladas with green cilantro-chili-sauce... When I complained, I was told there was no more red sauce in the kitchen and that I should try the green sauce, it would be very tasty. I ate the thing because I was very hungry and I did not want to spoil the evening for my girlfriend. When the waiter came for our empty plates, I told him that I did not like the food because of the cilantro, he offered me a shrug and a coffee, what I declined. When serving the complimentary shots of tequila, he forgot to put salt on the table, which I had to get myself... A fitting end for a spoilt evening. The whole meal was great, it started strong with the chicken wings that came free with my drink (during certain hours), the wings were tender and in a delicious sauce. We also ordered the caramelized onion and chicken nachos (big portions) to start which were extremely flavorful and I highly recommend if you want to try something a little different. This restaurant does a great job with the traditional Mexican food as well as some very flavorful variations. Thanks to some unfortunate events (someone stole our baby bag) we were left shaken, hungry and mostly without an appetite. At around 11 PM we got around to having dinner but few dinner options. We were apprehensive because of the reviews but went in anyway. We ordered two tacos - can't remember names but one was spicy one with rice and beans and another was shredded chicken. Also got a quesadilla with chicken and pineapple. Everything was better than great, warm and portion size was great too. Most of all, the waiting staff was all smiles, and very accommodating of our mammoth double stroller, cranky toddler and other request. We ordered nachos with meat and it was too salty for my taste. Nachos with cheese are not a real Mexican thing, that kind of cheese is not very used in traditional Mexican food. I understand that it's difficult to get ingredients for the food but just keep in mind that, this is not the way it's done out there. Were looking for good tortilla soup. Not on the menu but had a nice jalapeño soup that looked like vegetable soup. I ordered fajitas with meat and my husband had a beef burrito. Both had meat that tasted burnt, badly. We kept eating it thinking maybe it would taste better after a few more bites, plus we were hungry. When I told the waiter the meat was burnt and he may not want to serve this same meat to other people he said, "Ok, that is nice. Do you want coffee?" Basically, he did not care. I will never go back with that terrible attitude and burnt meat that was basically inedible. So bummed because I wanted a good Mexican restaurant to frequent regularly to be near us.
