I must admit, the name is really catchy that I was immediately drawn to it and try whatever they…read morehad to offer. I'm not really familiar with Mexican food but for some reason, by the looks of it, I had a feeling that I might enjoy this one. The Chalupa, their main product, looked a lot like a taco but bold prints on one of their signage clearly emphasized that it's not. I ordered their Beef Chalupa which contained beef (duh), veggies, cheese and other good stuff. You can even choose to put their special homemade hot sauce especially formulated to competent the soft pita-like chalupa. So if you're a fan of tacos and nachos with all the meat and special, you should definitely give this one a shot. You won't regret it. I didn't. Note: Say Chipotle (chi-pot-lei)

I first saw a stall of theirs at SM Hypermart (but I think that closed down), we wanted something different from our usual merienda (fresh lumpia, potato corner, pizza ollo, etc) beside the nearby stalls. I was so happy to have found it at the megamall food court, they also carry the iced tea brand All My Tea and it goes so well with their cheesy beef chipotle, for chicken lovers, you can opt to have chicken chipotle instead, both taste super good anyway). What amazes me too is that the customers get to see how they prepare the dough, sprinkling flour over it and then dipping it into the fryer. Such an interesting process and it's always nice to know how my food is being (safely) cooked.

It is so easy to love Mexican food! This is what Mexicali has shown me each time i eat here. They…read morehave a simple and straightforward menu that offers a good variety of meats. They have some vegetarian choices as well. So, anyone can eat here! I enjoy their burritos and the quesadillas. The burger isn't bad either! The best part of eating here is that every table is equipped with red and white sauce that adds just the right flavor to their food. The red sauce gives it a kick while the white sauce offers a garlicy note. The prices in this joint are reasonable because every time you walk out, you will feel full and youre going to want to come back to try their other dishes. I know that ill have to go back so i can try their pulled pork burrito! Just make sure that when you come here you dont expect Tex Mex because they are straight up mexican! I can tell because their tacos are soft as opposed to the U-shape tacos made popular by the West.

I went on a Saturday evening with my aunt and two of my brothers, but the Megamall branch wasn't even half full, but that only meant faster service and less antsy staff. I wish they at least put on some music - it's not much to fuss over, but I think it'd attract more customers at least. I availed of combo 4 - a burrito and a taco - whereas my brothers got a combo 5 (burrito and a quesadilla) and regular San Francisco Style burrito (double the meat). We all at least got to try out each other's dishes. I enjoyed my grilled chicken burrito, and my beef taco was crisp and didn't fall apart like cheaper end tacos. My brother's quesadillas weren't anything to fawn over about. The San Francisco Style ground beef burrito was definitely meatier, but I don't think it really needed to be to make you full. Mexicali has great Mexican food, but be prepared for the gas to follow your meal.

The place always has a long line every time we pass by. Imagine our surprise when, even on a Monday, the place was packed! We ordered Silantro's Calliente Wings (Php170, 3.7USD) for our starter. Their Lucha Tacos is one of their best-sellers. We had the Medio which offers double choice of meat in 2 taco shells (option for soft or hard shell, we went for the the soft shell) for only Php95 (2USD)! We ordered the lengua and lamb. For the adventurous, there is ox stripe. But, they also have chicken and beef for those who want to play it safe. Go for the lengua, really good! I also had a Mojito (Php90, 1.9USD), one glass was definitely not enough. The only thing we didn't like about Silantro was their service. It took them quite a long time to serve our food. But, even with the waiting time, the food is worth it. I'm going back to this place with my friends. Next time, I'll be ordering their Unli Mojito! :)

Though I'm…read morenot particularly a fan of tortilla - I tend to eat my chicken with rice - I love sinking my teeth into the flavorful meat and crispy golden skin of each piece. El Pollo Loco is every inch a fast food restaurant - with its no frills, walk-up-to-the-counter-and-order experience. But it also offers really good value for money - their meals range from solo offerings to group meals that can come with rice or other sides. Since I love their chicken so much, I tend to get myself a two piece meal and their 1-piece leg meal so I could have 3 pieces all to myself. I haven't even tried all their sides yet since their rice also comes slightly flavored. Sometimes I mix up my meal with their salsa - mixing in some of the spicy with the mild salsa to get just the right kick. What I also like about El Pollo Loco is that there always seems to be an empty table for me. They seemed to have maximized the space of their ground floor SM Megamall space. Their check out counter is also efficient and I havne't had to wait too long in line even if there'd be a lot of people already. I would definitely come back - and maybe try other things on their menu too. Overall, really happy with El Pollo Loco.
