Everyone had a sick day so went for take out in Bruges and wow! The pizza was Excellente. The owner took my order. It was quick. 10 minutes. A mozzarella with spicy salami and a more involved one with ham mozzarella, Parmesan, tomatoes , etc, etc. yum!! Both were so very amazing. I only ate half of each by the way!!! I did offer to share. This was our first visit to Bruges and wanted to eat Italian. So glad we tried this place. It's located on a quieter street. The service was exceptional as well as the food. I ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro and my husband ordered a Margherita Pizza. Everything came out quick. The flavors were amazing and fresh. The pasta was a perfect al denté and the sauce was delicious. The pizza crust was chewy with the perfect amount of crispness. Loved our meal here. We stopped in for a late dinner and thank goodness we had a reservation. Pretty essential. While waiting for our table we had a glass of wine, it was very good! It was just the house red but super yummy. Once we were seated we ordered two more glasses and they changed out the stemware and the glasses were smaller, and it affected the flavor of the wine! I wish they had let us keep the bigger glasses. Oh well. We ordered the tomato soup and beef carpaccio as appetizers. So yummy. They gave us truffle oil to put on the carpaccio - do it! The soup, delicious but my goodness it was HOT. I burned my tongue. But this was my fault, I knew the soup was hot but didn't want to wait. For dinner we got a baked lasagna and the Quattro formaggi (added crudo). Both were so yummy. We were way too full for dessert, but my goodness I wish we could have tried dessert. We were hungry for something other than beef/stew and found this place online near our Airbnb. We were thrilled that it was open (many places in Bruges aren't on Sundays) so we walked there for lunch. The food was FANTASTIC. We got a pizza and 2 pasta dishes and every bite was bliss. This was one of our favorite dinners during our travels in Belgium and The Netherlands. The restaurant looks like nothing from the street, but inside it is a very pleasing dining room, almost romantic. We were a family of four adults and saw couples and familes with small children in the dining room. We enjoyed veal, pizza, soup, and a seafood dish, and all were excellent with plentiful, tasteful portions. Service was kind and attentive, my (adult) son kept accidentally dropping silverware and they were right there several times with clean utensils - all laughed. :) We give this our highest recommendation. read more

This is our first time in Bruges and will not be our last. We instantly feel in love with the city. We found this place on yelp and we're very pleased! Before going, we read other reviews and saw that the only negative was service... that never deters me from good tasting food. Rather have slow service than shitty food! There is something to be said about the slow service reviews... it is what it is and if you don't like it don't go. But you can see them working their tails off, they aren't sitting down chitchatting! We arrived with reservations and there was a mixup or misunderstanding and our time was delayed. HOWEVER, the owner was very apologetic. No big deal, what am I gonna do, freak out.... it's Europe things are different here! Plus if you need a server (mind you there were only three gentlemen working) just flag them or say excuse me while they are passing your table and they will get what you need. Anyway we were seated and had a wonderful meal. The pizza was so flavorful and amazing. When we are back in Bruges, which we will be, we will come again! read more

After wondering the streets of Brugge all day, we were starving and Italian was the only thing that was going to satisfy us. We got there a little bit before they opened and were the first ones there. We walked into a richly decorated dining room - in dark shades of pink and black...it was beautiful. We started our meal with Prosecco and they give you complimentary dish of olives and pickled carrots/peppers/cauliflower. We ordered the caprese salad to share as an appetizer. It was delicious, perfectly fresh and seasoned. For dinner, I ordered the Pasta Carbonara while my friends ordered the Tortellini with cherry tomatoes, parmesian, ricotta, and spinach and the Spaghetti Blognaise...we all cleaned our bowls...the meals were delicious. There are hundreds of restaurants in this cool, midevil city...but La Gondola is worth stopping by. read more

Surprised to see bad reviews for this place. Most of the bad reviews I've read seem to be due to cultural misunderstandings and concede that the food was good. We had a great experience both with food and service. We sat in one night and also had take-out pizza late another night. Both times, the staff were very friendly, and the food was delicious. We happened to have New Year's Eve dinner there, and the man I took to be the owner gifted us two Italian cakes on our way out! I might recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to eat a little later (it was booked from around 8-10). read more

I'm not joking, but this is the best Italian restaurant that I have ever been in my entire life. The service was great and very accommodating, the price was great for the quality of what we got. I ordered the seafood pasta, the sauce has no words to be described. My son went nuts with my pasta and ate a lot from it. Also got the pizza and we always put some balsamic on top and they gave us balsamic glaze, delicious!!! I don't remember the names of the pastas from the rest of my family, but did try them and they were really good, perfectly AL dente and we'll flavored. Unfortunately I don't live in Brügge, Belgium nor Europe, but if I ever come back I'm definitely eating there again. Too good not to go again. We arrived on a Tuesday night without a reservation, 6 of us. They seemed put out that we were there and when we asked for separate bills, the waiter snapped that we could only have one bill. As we were eating with colleagues, we needed separate bills for reimbursement from our employer. One of our colleagues was upset, and the waiter stormed off and literally refused to serve us. It was unbelievable! So we left - I don't care how good your food is, you need to treat your customers decently. I have never experienced such rude service. I want to give -5 stars! read more
