The lady even warned us, but being the fat greedy Americans we are, we went with large anyway. Bolognese was good. Four cheese was good - super creamy! It's a small shop with a large communal table inside. They have a couple tables outside too. A shop owner saw our take away boxes and validated our choice on lunch. Walking into the city center of Brugge, we saw several people holding these white containers so our curiosity led us to Bocca. The line was sooooooo long so I dropped a pin and decided to check it out on my way back to Brussels. Came back at 530 to virtually no one in line and just a few people outside. For £5, I got a small 4 cheese penne pasta that was scorching hot and oh sooooo delicious. Cheap, good food for a pretty touristy area. My cousin got the penne in spicy tomato sauce that I actually enjoyed more than mine. read more

Stopped by here on my trip to Bruges and was looking for a nice, inexpensive, filling place. This definitely hit the spot. There are three different pasta sizes; small (€4), medium (€5), and large (€6). They have multiple flavors for customers to pick from, and also the option to mix flavors!! You could add more toppings which will be a couple of cents to a euro extra. I ordered a small penne pasta with four cheese and a hint of salmon curry and it was delicious! Creamy, smooth sauce with soft warm pasta. The service was quick and the servers were friendly. Definitely did not feel like the foreigner I was. Fast, cheap, and good! We were only in Bruges for 3 nights and had dinner here twice! We had one nice dinner while we were here but wanted something more laid back and casual the other nights. Come to find out, that really doesn't exist in Bruges. But thankfully, Bocca exists and filled that gap. The small portion is HUGE and only for €4.5! My husband ate it and was full, which is saying a lot. They have many sauce variations, but our fave was the Bocca, which I would liken to a spicy vodka sauce. This is also a super popular lunch spot with lines out the door. But at dinner, it's quiet and you can most definitely grab a seat or walk with it and see the beautiful city! read more

After arriving in Brugge and snacking on waffels, fries and chocolates it was time to eat some real food. We googled Italian and this little spot popped up. It was neat and clean was close by our hotel. We ordered 3 small sized boxes (which was plenty!!!!!) My husband got spaghetti with arribatta sauce, my daughter got penne with their vegetarian sauce (hers was my favorite) and I got spaghetti with a mix of the 3 cheese and the spicy tomato sauce. It was steaming hot when served,simply delicious, and very filling! Even my daughter ate hers with no fuss! It was cheap and yummy and the folks who worked there were super nice! Pasta in a box! I found out about this place through the USE-IT Guide to Bruges (http://www.use-it.travel/) or the hipster guide as I've heard it referred as. What sold me was cheap, quick food with free wi-fi. USE-It did warn of, however, the high school kids that swarm the place. You choose the pasta and the sauce. The workers spoke very good English. The place was full of high school kids, but I was able to squeeze in the one empty seat at the large table. I must say it was interesting seeing so many kids speaking Dutch. The pasta itself was OK. It came covered with a ton of parmesan cheese. I ordered mine with bolognese sauce. It tasted like something I could make at home, which isn't a bad thing but nothing special. I'm torn on giving Bocca two and a half stars... What it has going for it: 1) Fast 2) Cheap, for Brugge 3) Convenient 4) These people do not skimp on cheese. What didn't work: I ordered a small, whole wheat fusili pasta with pesto (4.5 euro). The fusili was a whole euro more than the penne. Hardly justifiable. I was asked if I wanted the red or green pesto. Now, I don't know about you, but I didn't know the Italians had a red pesto. And the green pesto is heavy on the cheese, light on the basil and garlic. It's an unoffensive pesto. Carrying on... the pasta was a tad overcooked and desperately needed to be cooked in salted water. Being that they pre-cook the penne and need to cook the fusili per order, there was no excuse for the former. Then there is the simply fact that at lunch time this place is a zoo! Kids from wall to ceiling, I suspect because this is one of the few cheap eats around Brugge. Just not a pleasant holiday experience and the staff was visibly stressed by the crowd factor. I wanted to like Bocca enough to come back for another quick and cheap lunch during this trip, but that's unlikely to happen. Hence the two stars. read more

Omg I love love love this place. I have been in Bruges for over 6 times now visiting my husbands family. And every time I come here I need to get some Bocca. All the sauces are super amazing and the prices is beyond reasonable. I think about this place when I'm back at home in Long Beach California. This place is severely underrated. A few people in my group are vegan and we have come here several times because it's delicious for everyone. The small size is five euros if you get penne and it's plenty of food for one person. It's entirely delicious as well. We have come here several times because everything we have tried is delicious.
