After having been at the Alhambra earlier in the day, my wife and I were pretty hungry and looking for a good, satisfying meal. We ended up in Plaza de Bib-Rambla as it was lined with restaurants and seemed to offer plenty of choice. We did notice that many of the restaurants were either empty (on a Saturday night) or the few customers were getting coffee and dessert only. This is normally a bad sign, but we were hungry and the menu looked extensive and affordable. The portion sizes also looked very large for what we had seen so far in Spain.
However, once the food came out, we immediately regretted our restaurant choice. We both went with the "menu of the day" as we we wanted quite a bit of food. For the first course, my wife ordered a goat cheese salad, but was given mozzarella instead. My paella had one small piece of chicken and old, unflavorful calamari. The second course got even better - we had ordered grilled chicken with potatoes assuming it would be a hearty meal. What came out was a piece of unseasoned chicken breast, some fries, and absolutely no seasoning or sauce whatsoever. We asked for some sauce, and were provided with garlic aioli and ketchup halfway through our meal, by which point our food was cold. For dessert, my wife ordered flan, and but once again was given custard instead. We asked for the check three times before it finally came out, at which point we noticed that they had charged us for bread (which they never asked or provided us) as well as a 15% service charge (first and only time we've seen that in Spain). We then waited another 15 minutes for them to fix the check, at which point we hurriedly paid and left the restaurant.
Overall, this place was a complete waste of our time, money, and Saturday night in Granada. I would walk straight past the restaurants in this plaza as most of them seemed very similar to this restaurant. There are plenty of outstanding restaurants/bars right around the corner on other streets offering up much better food at good prices. read more
