I've given this place more chances than I should have--mainly because the food can be good--but I'm officially done. The number of bad experiences I've had here is honestly too many to list. I kept hoping things would improve, but it's reached a point where I had to seriously ask myself why I keep letting this place disappoint me. Orders are constantly wrong, food quality is hit or miss--sometimes stale, sometimes just off. But the worst part by far is the rude woman who is always at the front (pictured). She never confirms your order--whether you're on the phone or in person--just says "OK" in the most dismissive tone and rushes you off the phone or straight to payment. If something ends up being wrong, she either lies and says they don't sell it that way (even when it's clearly listed on the menu or shown in photos), or gaslights you into thinking you ordered it wrong. No apology, no attempt to fix it--just blank stares and attitude. On a positive note, the younger girl working there is the complete opposite--kind, attentive, and clearly putting in effort. She should be the one at the front taking orders. She has long blonde/platinum dyed hair. It's unfortunate because the food had potential, but consistent disrespect and poor service ruin the entire experience. I won't be coming back. read more

This was recommended by our car dealer sales person. It is a simple Mexican dinner vibe. But the menu on the wall is extensive. You order at the counter and they bring you food. The tacos came super fast. Typical, authentic street tacos, really hit the spot for 2 hungry guys. Menudo came next, it is what we came here for. The trimmings are generous and the soup was delicious. The menudo was soft, well seasoned. Extremely satisfied. Last thing to arrive was the oysters. Fresh delicious oysters topped with generous amount of lime and cucumber. I'm overall quite impressed with the place and it is highly recommended. read more

Waited almost an hour to get our food because they were still making 2 items. They were the daily specials yet it took that long. The rest of our order sat on the counter for over 20 minutes and when we got our food we still had to wait for them to make an order of chips. Best menudo I've had. It has pigs feet, a lot of tripe and a little hominy, the way I like it. The broth was perfect. The corn tortillas were large, fresh and "homemade". Oregano and chile flakes are at the table. A bag of chopped white onions and a tiny amount of cilantro was provided. La Fonda is my go-to for Mexican food. The style is a walk-up counter, you place your order and seat yourself. They'll bring the food out to you. They have a barbacoa wet burrito is to die for it's my top favorite items to order when I come here. Burrito was good! Not the absolute best Machaca I've ever had but def not the worst. I don't think they put beans in the burrito which is a must have for me but it was still good and it did the trick. I got the pico de gallo salsa as well as the red salsa. read more

Ok, this place has me pretty torn. If you are a picky eater that orders your items with alterations then you should go in with the expectation that: 1. They will very likely get your order wrong 2. They will not apologize for getting your order wrong or admit any fault 3. Will make you pay to fix your order, even if the fault was theirs. The food is delicious and the price is good. The service is pretty crappy though and they can be downright rude. It's a small place located near the auto mall so if you are in the area and want something fast, convenient, with good flavor and don't care if your order is a little messed up or if you get pretty lousy service than this is the place. read more

If your dinning here it's 5 stars if it's a phone order , it's terrible . Place is not expensive it's a good price for the amount of food you get . Food is delicious. My experience is usually the shrimp tacos an cheese enchilada. Did a phone order , 1 shrimp taco , 2 cheese enchiladas one red sauce one green Sauce , all rice no beans . However I gotten 1cheese enchilada,1 beef enchilada rice an beans . When I read my receipt it said enchiladas special. It was different the cheese enchilada were good the rice was rice an beans were well I don't know a toss in the garbage. I hate wasting food , but I don't like beans. Service was absolutely horrible. The two ladies (one at the register and the server) had the ugliest attitudes. Mid dinner i came the the register to buy extra sour cream and stood there and she proceeded to ignore me and then finally said "can I help you" Like no I'm just standing here for no reason you slow b... As myself and other guests were leaving a sweet lady said "thank you so much" and the miss mam at the register just rolled her eyes. Food wasn't that good either. Went to try out their Menudo. First of all the customer service was excellent, the young lady "Bella" treated me like Familia! With a beautiful welcoming smile and was super polite. Now the Menudo was BOMB! They provided all the spices that made it taste just like homemade. Thank you La Fonda for giving me that taste of Menudo that I soo missed! This place was always my go to for fast Mexican food. I paid $18 for a wet burrito and paid extra for sour cream to receive this. A dry burrito with a smear of sour cream. Very disappointed. Please do better when charging this much. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my mom and husband Saturday afternoon. Its tucked away on Auto drive next to all the car dealerships.  Nice place inside and out, but can get cramped inside when there busy. Like they where today. You walk up to the counter to order and they bring you your food when its ready.  They have a salsa bar loaded with 6 ? Different salsas (both the green ones are great) and a nice size dining area,.. I ordered 2 street chicken tacos with a side of rice. And a pina drink. My mother ordered a street chicken taco and a chicken enchilada combo plate. With a corona beer. My husband a carne asada wet burrito. With a corona beer. ( burrito was huge!) The girl at the register was friendly. The food came out fast and everyone was happy with there meals. The chicken and asada was tender and flavorful. The rice was soft, fluffy and tasty. The beans where creamy and good too. But everybody's plate and food where luke warm! Not hot.  And some of the meat from my chicken tacos and the asada burrito was fatty. But not to bad, still very good overall. And a place i would go back to, maybe just not on a weekend. Place was clean and affordable too. Only paid 35$ for 3 meals, 2 beers and a pina. read more

Buying a new car? Stop on by La Fonda. This restaurant is located at the auto mall by all of the car dealerships. Most of the time when I want Mexican I hit up grandmas tamales. They hit all my musts for Mexican food, consistently good and cheap! We ate here once years ago and my wife always reminisces about the torta so while getting the last of the Xmas shopping done we stopped by. There is plenty of parking (I like the street because parking is a little tight within the restaurant) They have plenty of tables and 3 TVs playing sports. Walk on up to the counter and order what you like. (Does anyone remember the good ole' days when tacos were a buck? ) Service is quick and friendly. My wife and I ordered the carne Asada tortas, once you order pick a seat and the servers will bring it out to you. While there we helped ourselves to the salsa bar. Their avocado salsa is KILLER. It's got great flavor and a slight kick. It pairs well on anything! Tortas came out pretty quickly, and they were nice and hot! Tortas are hard, they can get soggy if you don't eat it right away. Not here! One of the reasons my wife loves this place is because the bread is thicker than normal and they take the time to get it nicely toasted and buttery. The torta comes with beans, meat, lettuce, tomato, mayo and nice slices of avocado. Also comes with a small grilled pepper, beware one was spicy and one was not. The flavor of the torta was great, the only reason this place doesn't get a 4 star from me ( my wife disagrees) is because there was a lot of gristle in both our Asada and I hate that. Would I eat 2 of these tortas if I was in the area and my wife wanted to go here? Absolutely! But if I am craving a torta I am not going to make the drive when grandmas tamales is closer to my home and my heart. read more

Came here for lunch with coworkers. It was my first time but my coworkers were very familiar and recommended it highly. I hadn't eaten any breakfast and spent the whole morning outside in the sun so I was in the mood for something cool and fresh. La Fonda has a large seafood menu and their ceviche was just the thing for the hot day. This os the type of restaurant where you order and pay first and then they bring you the food to your table when it's ready. The dining area is spacious and thankfully they weren't too busy. I checked out the bathroom so I could wash my hands and it was nice and clean. We waited about 10-15 minutes for our dishes to start coming out. We had 8 of us and all the dishes came out around the same time. The ceviche was delicious. I got the kind that came in a bowl and was served with chips. It really hit the spot. The portion was generous and very filling, but not heavy. Summer is just around the corner so I will definitely be coming back on those hot summer days. read more

Worse customer service. The lady who took our order didn't greet us. So I greeted here and she didn't respond. She just ignored us. It was around 5 o clocks so I don't think she was happy we were there 3 hours before closing. Most of the table were block off as reserved. It was clear they were not reserved it was just an excuse to discourage customers from Dinning inside. Both of the two lady were very rude, and had a bad attitude. It seem they hated their job. They had no customer service Etiquette. I have never walked into a restaurant and not being greeted by the staff, specially when I greed them. This is a great little spot for the area it's in. The auto mall. You order and pay then find a table and they bring you your food. My husband ordered a torta with fries, and he said it was good. I ordered an enchilada with red sauce and taco rice and beans. I asked for chips and salsa, so I don't know if they were free or I paid for them. They weren't bad, but they give you a really small salsa. Like 2oz. They also give you two bottles, one with green sauce and one red. The food was just okay along with the service. read more

Ordered the tacos Dorados and before I did I specifically asked if the shells are fresh made. Menudo hit the spot! It's so flavorful from here, my son said he was craving menudo and I cringed because there's not a lot of places I personally know of where the menudo was memorable. Of course at that point I was craving it and I instantly thought of La Fonda. Such a good choice. Yum!! I was happy that it was not only hominy with little to no tripe.
