Pescaria Estrada - Not the best octopus. Put your money on the fish.

We went on a Saturday night and it was pleasantly relaxed, which made the whole experience even better. Alex took amazing care of us. He was attentive, kind, and always one step ahead, bringing things before we even had to ask. He also shared great insight about the restaurant and its background, which we really appreciated. The food was as delicious as ever. We always order the grilled octopus and it's a must every time, perfectly tender and full of flavor. This time we also tried a small shrimp ceviche that had a great balance of acidity and spice. We finished with the grilled fish, which was soft, fresh, and really tasty. I skipped the margarita this time, but they are also one of my favorite things to get here. We will definitely keep coming back.

I thought the fish was a little over-fried but my husband liked it that way. The grilled octopus was not overcooked, but in fact very tender, and cooked with this red sauce that made it very juicy. These were their two recommended dishes and I'm glad we got to try them. Just be careful with the water here (like any place in Mexico). I think I got sick because my drink had ice in it, which melted and contaminated my drink. Small mixed ceviche 10/10 - We were pleasantly surprised by the serving size ("THIS is a small?") Grilled octopus with ajillo 9/10 Fried fish (catch of the day) 8/10

The best food I've had in Tulum two years in a row! Simply amazing!…read more Wow - I thought maybe I just remembered last year through rose-colored glasses - no, this place is magnificent. First, the vibe is basically perfect. Feels exotic, is clean, the staff is fun, and the live music is the finishing touch. Second, without a doubt the best food we had in Tulum during our week there this year, and my week there last year. House Salad - I never knew I needed goat cheese ice cream on a salad but I'm telling you it was AMAZING! My girlfriend had the Octopus in marinade. She gets the Octopus everywhere we go. It was very tasty and not overcooked like is often the case. I had the Catch of the Day, Sea Bass. I have the fish of the day everywhere I go (live in St Petersburg, Florida, so I'm a seafood junky). It was, again, like last year the best fish dinner entree I had in Tulum. That's between about 12 different places I've eaten at in Tulum spanning the poshest hotel zone restaurants to the most reviewed and highly rated places in Centro in town. It was mouth-wateringly good and flawlessly prepared. I highly suggest trying the Mexican Tea cocktail - a refreshing, but not overly sweet, well-balanced drink that I loved and my girlfriend switched to despite it not being anything like what she would normally order. Last - I worked in restaurants starting at 15 through my late 20's including the most upscale place in the entire city. I got good enough to find gigs helping train staff during new openings. The service we received was remarkable, yet causal and fun. Commendable and appreciated.

Served with house made tortilla chips, the ceviche was made with grilled onions and wasn't overly citrusy. I don't recall the price, but it was run of the mill. Make sure you have cash.

This is the kind of place you stumble into half-sunburned and salt-crusted, not looking for a culinary revelation -- and yet, it finds you anyway. You sit down, order the mixed ceviche, and suddenly you're wondering why anyone bothers with fine dining at all. Bright, briny, and unapologetically fresh, the ceviche arrives on a platter fit for Poseidon himself -- octopus, shrimp, fish, maybe a few things you don't ask too many questions about. All of it kissed with lime, chili, and a generosity that's almost suspicious. They serve food here like someone's abuela is worried you haven't eaten in days. You think, "Surely this isn't all for me." Oh, but it is. Cash only. Of course. Because the best places always are. Bring pesos, not plastic. And the cats -- oh, the cats. They don't beg. They know better. They own the place. Stray royalty lounging in the shade, slinking between tables, giving side-eye to tourists who haven't earned their stripes yet. They're part of the charm, part of the rhythm of a place. El Capitan isn't trying to be cool. It just is.

They seated us right away, in the direct path of a refreshing fan and took our drink orders. They have a wonderful selection of local beers to choose from. They came out promptly and accompanied by a frosty cold mug, which was such a nice touch. They brought us chips and salsa as we waited and their salsa was so unique and quite tasty. We decided to get their nachos and wow! Their nachos were the best food we had the entire week we were in Mexico, just absolutely delicious. The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful, and quick. We enjoyed every single moment of our visit here. If you are in the area stop in here and you will not be disappointed! Pros: *Delicious nachos *Great staff *Good location *Great beer selection *Takes credit cards Cons: *You may spend too much money because you won't want to leave haha

Our tour bus dropped us at the entrance of another restaurant and told us to meet there, so of course we had to eat at a different place. After touring the incredible ruins of Tulum on a very hot day, we stopped in here. The restaurant is attractive. They have swings for seats at the bar and a grass-thatched roof. They take credit cards, so that's always a plus. Their beers are cold and they have a decent selection. They also make tropical cocktails and the menu is diverse--Mexican food, or pizzas & burgers for the less adventurous tourist. They also have vegetarian/vegan options available on their menu. While we didn't eat the pizza, it looked good. They have their own wood-fired brick pizza oven. The chips and salsa and the guacamole were very tasty. It's not very crowded and the bartender and waiter were friendly. The prices aren't that bad at all (I don't know why I've seen some other reviews with people complaining about the cost).
