This has been my go to gym after work as it's on my route home; very convenient and the staff is very friendly and helpful! We had a scare a few months ago in November when the LA Fitness Corporate announced this location was to be closed down but just before that actually happened this location received exciting new that not only they were going to stay open but will be getting a 2.5 million dollar upgrade and renovation!! Wonderful news for us LA Fitness "gym rats"! Maybe some day, some one in corporate will update the Yelp listing to LA Fitness from Esporta Fitness (like they did for the La Habra location / my weekend gym). read more

I check-in here a lot because it is my local gym... The restrooms haven't got any better and the locker rooms need to be updated SERIOUSLY LA Fitness have such nicer facilities that it's almost worth it for me to drive up to the one off of the 210 Fwy. This one does have an indoor track but a lot of the equipment gets broken and it takes a while for it to be replaced or fixed. Some of the rubber handles on the weights are ripped or barely hanging on. On the LAT Pulls they no longer have the little 'add on' weights and on many of the weights the cords are missing from the pin. This Esporta just feels so out of place and is lacking some care. The gym goers in this gym just seem to not care about any of the equipment. Just feels like most of the people that go here or work here are zombies. Don't get me wrong, I still get in a good workout when I do go. In the end, that is what matters. read more

LA Fitness has the worst business practice when it comes to cancellations but this location takes the cake. In order to cancel your membership, you must do so in person so that is what I did. Not only did they require I pay my dues to cancel, they proceeded to tell me after I charged my card that it couldn't be done that day. And that I had to come back in on Monday to "cancel" Despite being aware that their customer base consists primarily of working individuals, Esporta inconveniently restricts cancellations to business hours from Monday to Friday, 9-5, completely disregarding the fact that many customers would have to cancel a day's worth of work simply to end their membership Management, whether from Corporate or this location, decided to strategize on how to make this insanely difficult and awkward to cancel and to make matters worse, you have people like Martin who appear to get some perverse satisfaction from this. Martin, who called himself the manager, apparently doesn't have the authority to cancel memberships. How ironic? He'll take your card, charge it, send you receipts, give you the option to pause your account, but any mention of cancellation and he removes himself from being able to do so. If you have the authority to charge a card, you should have the authority to cancel a membership. I walked out of the gym unable to cancel and am writing this review to let others know of my experience. I urge potential customers to exercise caution before engaging with Esporta and these 2 at the front desk. Instead, I recommend signing up with Gympass which gives you access to over 100+ gyms across Los Angeles for the same price. By doing so, you can avoid the cancellation policies set forth by ESporta and avoid yourself of this experience like the one I had today. read more

Paying an extra $49 a month for the whole year to take group class. Every Monday class, the instructor does not show up and gives no notice. You waste your time waiting for them to show up, they claim they're "on the way", and they never arrive. Unprofessional and terrible, wish I hadn't signed up for this. I have had nothing but positive experiences here with staff. I came in with my sister a few weeks ago and the gentleman up front assisted us with a day pass for her. He was informative, patient and overall super helpful. My sister loved it and will be signing up soon. Even the janitor was helpful when I asked a question. This gym is spacious and is always clean. This gym has fallen on hard times with current management. Three of the benches in the weight room are broken and have been for months. The chest fly machine is broken. The men's restroom is always filthy. No one racks their weights and of course, management doesn't care as no one walks around doing weight collection or enforcing the gym etiquette. I started visiting this club in December 2021 as it is the closest to my new home. In the beginning, I was very much so delighted to see the cleanliness and the enormous space it had. As the year as progressed, it has gone to shit. A new trainer started and he brings his own speaker that's waaaaayyy too loud. He blasts music in the cardio area and it's hard to focus on your own thing with that going on. There was a younger manager that I no longer see. When she was there, it was a tight run ship. I see some of the staff also works at Esporta in Rancho Cucamonga and that gym is also falling on hard times. Does LA Fitness read these reviews? If so, they should definitely focus on both Montclair and Rancho as those gyms are wasting away. read more

Well it ain't Equinox. But for a nominal fee I get my treadmill and assorted gym equipment. It's reasonably tidy. Sure it gets crowded but that's only at certain times. Early morning and late at night is a way to avoid the crowds. The decor could use a touchup. The images of the people on the walls have been there forever. I'm sure most of the models are now middle aged with a tiny belly. The lighting can be improved because it leaves the place looking a little dingy and bleak. There's a pool, so that's a nice touch. It's fine for my purposes. No frills. Just stuff to work out on. read more

Joined here again after being away for a few years. Everything about the same. Inside is too hot. They definitely need to run the fan on a higher speed than low. One day it was 100 degrees outside and the fan was off! Very crowded at certain times. Last week they ran out of paper towels in the whole place but have since refilled all the dispensers. I have been a member for almost a year. While it has been one of the better gyms in the area, lately it has been disappointing. For people who choose to skip on the $10 planet fitness membership or $30 golds, this seems like the perfect fit. While there is many machines, weights, and a decent space compared to nearby gyms, there have been issues with this facility for a while now. The sauna was down for over 2 months. They fixed the issue and reopened for a week before shutting down the entire pool, cold dip, and sauna. Current managers need to prioritize what is getting fixed in their facilities and making sure their staff has knowledge on the issues. These issues should be fixed for members who choose to go to THIS gym. Being relocated to a further location doesn't make sense. Members should not be paying the premium for a broken facility with staff who have little to knowledge on what's going on. read more

The one star has nothing to do with the staff, they are all welcoming, especially Geo, great guy. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the smell the lower part by the pool has. It's so bad I won't use the machines. Smells literally like a BARN. Imagine having to workout in such a stench. I stopped working out for a couple of months, until I took a leap and decided to pay more to have the ALL GYM'S membership, so that I can hop over to a different location. This has nothing with the early morning custodians. They do a fantastic job in cleaning the restrooms and wiping the cardio machines. I even notice them re-racking the dumbbells. I've been coming to this gym for a long time, and I have to say that the last two-three years it's been quickly going downhill. The carpets have been fraying, causing potential tripping hazards, the lockers are in poor shape, with many not having a working bolt mechanism to use a lock on them, and probably worst of all, is that several machines have been out of commission, waiting on repairs, some as long as three months. I've brought these concerns up to management, but they just give me the blurb about "we're working on it", or "some of the parts take a long time to get". For as much as people are paying to come here, that's unacceptable and shows lack of follow through or lack of concern. If you come check this gym out to potentially get a membership, pay attention to missing pins in machines and missing handles or the out of order signs on several machines. read more

Mother's Day 5/14/23. Gym didn't open on time. We waited 20 minutes and left to go to another location. They're almost always a few minutes behind but this is unacceptable. All the equipment is getting broken or stolen. Doesn't seem like employees walk the floor and put weights back (even though you should always put your own stuff back, but still). This gym has the worst management. Barbells and dumbbells are thrown all over. You will see empty bottles not picked up for days. There are too many equipments broken and had been waiting to be fixed for weeks . Management only cares about signing up as many people as possible. I went to this gym for a few months back in 2021. While everything went well for the first few months, it started going south. I was constantly being charged $280 for a trainer and my trainer was constantly canceling on me or not showing up. Manager didn't do anything about it and kept charging me. He refused to let me cancel my membership. I was constantly being bothered by staff about knowing someone if they want to come to this gym. I left this gym and will never come back to this location. 4 1/2 stars. Located just north of the 10 freeway and Monte Vista. I arrived here on a weekday morning after the grand reopening on Monday. Parking was a breeze since they share a large lot with the shopping center. How refreshing, what was a worn out Bally's is now a brand new LA Fitness stocked with new cardio equipment, free weights area and life fitness equipment. In addition, the aerobic and spinning class rooms were remodeled and are like new. The bathrooms and showers have new tile throughout but the lockers only received a fresh coat of paint. I like the layout of the equipment and enjoy how all the equipment is spaced apart and not cramped. I did see construction workers working on various areas still and the walking and jogging track upstairs had not reopened yet. This location does not have racket ball or basketball unlike original LA Fitness locations but is conveniently located. I will certainly be will be returning in the future. read more

My issue is with the recurring billing . They have been taking out the $29.99 every month no problem and then all of a sudden they want me to update my billing info . And now are asking for $ 54.00 dollars when they just took the $29.99 fee a week ago . I was asked to call and speak with a manager tomorrow . I would not recommend personally, I started off with a membership where I could add a person for $25.00, they brought it up to 29.99, I decided to cancel because they did that without me realizing it, When I opened my account they said there would be no cancellation fee and proceeded to charge me 25 dollars to cancel my membership, the lady in the front told me she could get me a refund and she told me it was refunded, she calls today and says she talked to her supervisor and said they could not proceed with a refund absolutely would not recommend they have all types of fees when they say they don't. This portion of my review goes to the personal trainers and their personalized training routines. Prior to signing up for the gym and personal training, I had neither motivation nor any idea of how to exercise and stay fit. My trainer, Jessica, loves what she does and you can tell that she really cares about her clients and does what she can to help them achieve their fitness goals. I highly recommend her. Although I do not have training sessions with other trainers other than Jessica, I have to say that Sam, Jose, Niko, and Kamal are also very knowledgeable and helpful whenever I need help with a certain exercise or advice on nutrition. The trainers at this LA Fitness location have changed my life and have turned me into a brand new person, so a big shout out to them. As far as the gym goes, they have people cleaning the floors and wiping down machines every day. The restrooms are always stock up on toilet paper and seat covers. They vacuum everyday. My favorite part of the gym is the track because I get to run and do my cardio since I get motion sickness from using the treadmill so I avoid it. Overall, I recommend this gym to people who actually go to work out and are trying to achieve their fitness goals. read more

This gym is ok, I have been coming here for a little over a year and a half now. The concern that I have is it doesn't seem like the staff cares what goes on inside. Weights are never re-racked properly and are usually scattered throughout the gym. Some of the staff appear to be extremely full of themselves including the staff that are sitting behind the desk when you first check in. Some employees strut around the front of the gym as if they are God's gift to the world which can be extremely off-putting to members. When I first joined the gym my wife and i were told we could utilize the personal training area If no one else was there, but now it seems as if no one can use it ever unless you are specifically engaged in personal training. This is frustrating as my wife is pregnant and some of the only equipment which she can use while pregnant such as medicine balls are situated in the personal training area. We have been told they are also in the group fitness room but that has never been the case. From my experience of going to other LA fitness locations such as La Verne and Upland, the Montclair location lacks attention to detail and employee hospitality. That or they just don't care about anyone except themselves. When I tried verifying the distance of the indoor track at the front desk I was given a guess by the employee instead of an exact correct answer. It believe the employees should know the answer to simple questions if they work at the most visible position in the gym. read more

Came here because they have boxing bags and discovered they're hung higher than other clubs. The bottom of the bag comes up to my waist. The layout is all one floor with cardio equipment is in the front when you walk in, aerobics room to the right and spin class room to the left and as you continue further back the machines and weights are in the back. There's an indoor track as well which is located above the weights. This club's been here since the early 80's (I remember coming here with my parents when it first opened and checking out the indoor track) and although it's updated it could use a face lift in the locker room as far as replacing the outdated metal lockers with wood ones. One of the reasons I like LA Fitness clubs is they're usually way cleaner than 24 Hour FItness Clubs, but this one is just as dirty and the cardio equipment is faulty (USB charger's don't work on the stair master, other cardio equipment doesn't have a USB charger port at the top. Despite all this, it's still a decent club with all the equipment you'll need to workout (they have a huge pool as well), plenty of parking and a lot of space inside. read more

Really good gym, decent price, hours could be better. The people are average gym people mostly everybody kinda knows each other as you keep coming. The front staff people are kind enough to just get you in. The only thing they need to work on is the nasty scent they have lingering and the weights are ALWAYS everywhere no matter what day what time. Pretty good set up. We signed up in January of this year and we were told that they would be going to a 24 hour format in the next month which was a highlight for us to get our membership. However, due to the COVID case increase in the follow weeks they kept pushing the 24 hours back. At this point there is no outlook for this format. The weekend hours suck. It would be nice to be able to wake up early before work on the weekends or go after work but the hours are only 8-5pm. Their hours are not very conducive to being consistent in your workout. I'm not sure how limited hours save us from COVID. I understand that everywhere is understaffed, but there should be the ability to have a skeleton crew until midnight There needs to be more sanitation stations in the cardio room next to the green strip also. I would like to wipe down the equipment but I have to walk all the way to the other side of the cardio equipment. Possibly a bright sign to indicate cleaning equipment also. read more
