I took the family there for dinner last night, and am SO THRILLED to have a non-fast-food option that is open for dinner in this town. Plus, it's Mexican food, and I am a Mexican food snob. I will not lie -- I judge Mexican restaurants by their guacamole and chilles rellenos. The guacamole is fresh and not loaded up with weird ingredients. It's just a very simple, slightly-chunky guac with fresh avocados in it. Also, the chilles rellenos are made with fresh poblanos (hard to find in this area) and good queso, as they should be, and cooked to perfection! (A lot of people around here don't make them correctly.) I also tried the Azteca soup, which is sort of an upgraded tortilla soup. It was so delicious! The flavor was very delicate, with very fresh ingredients. This will be awesome on chilly evenings! My husband had the enchiladas suizas -- a dish I make at home a lot. He really liked the tomatillo sauce. We have been to many Mexican restaurants that serve it and a lot of them use canned sauce. This tasted very fresh and you could taste the fresh onion added at the end of cooking. The kids had taco salads-- their favorite! They looked delicious! Everything looked very fresh and the shells looked like they might be made in-house instead of purchased ready-made. I'm not sure. After the dinner, the restaurant owner/manager chatted with us. I complimented him on his awesome chilli rellenos and he gave me some tips for enjoying poblanos at home. He also took the time to trade shop talk with my littlest, who is a tiny chef in the making! My only concern is that many restaurants have not done well in this location, so I hope they stick around. The food is so good and prices so reasonable that I can't imagine it would not perform well. I will definitely do my part to keep them around -- I am already hungry for more chilles rellenos! read more

Great restaurant if you are in the Spencer area and looking for authentic Mexican food in a family friendly atmosphere. The staff were amazing with our large party and the complimentary tortilla chips were plentiful. Be sure and order some of the house guac to go with your chips while you wait for your food: it's chunky, very fresh, and purely delicious. Our party ranged from vegan (pain in the ass) to vegetarian all the way up to full-on carnivore and each item, even the ones requested with special customizations, was on point. Those of us who enjoy an occasional alcoholic beverage indulged in a shared pitcher of margaritas and it did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and they were very good. There were about 8 kids in our party and the children's menu has items for kids who like Mexican food as well as pain in the rear kids who insist on ordering chicken tenders and French fries no matter where we go (I'm looking at you Wesley). Altogether, I hope La Finca is still around in about 5 years when we are forced once again to make the obligatory trip to visit the in-laws as it was one of the most pleasant parts of our trip to West by god Virginia. read more
