This is a decent little Mexican restaurant in downtown Abilene. I really was over burger places and most small towns in Kansas have an okay Mexican restaurant so after looking on Yelp we found ourselves here. I will say that the hours are very confusing and you'll find different information on if they are open Saturdays depending on where you look. When we were there I noticed a sign on the door that said they are open every other Saturday - so you might have to call if you don't want to chance it on the weekend. Now onto the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was that it's in a historic old building downtown, and I loved the charm of the place. The owners have clearly put some work into giving it it's own flair and it's honestly a fun ambiance to dine in. The servers were all super friendly as well, and the food was pretty good. I'd give the food a B+ for tex mex but in a small town I think it's probably closer to an A-. My only real complaint about this place was that the highchair didn't have really any belts or anything to buckle our baby into so I spent most of our meal making sure she wasn't falling, or just holding her which isn't ideal for enjoying a meal. Overall, though, this place is a nice local spot that I'd return to if in the area. It's family friendly with good service and decent food. read more

La Fiesta checked all of the boxes for us on Saturday for lunch. We were in town after the Wild West Gravel Fest and looking for an easy, delicious meal. We ordered a Chicken Chimichanga and the Al Pastor Tacos. Both meals were delicious and came out faster than we could devour the fresh, warm chips. If you're looking for great service in a bright environment, then this is small town Mexican food you're looking for. read more

Enjoyable lunch on our Eisenhower expedition in Abeline. Atmosphere is excellent, beautifully decorated! If you like painted pottery and authentic decor, you are in for a treat! The lunch portion chicken fajitas was generous and delicious. read more

Service was good, food was good, love the atmosphere nice small cozy place. They definitely need to hire more servers! They only had one lady serving customers, tending to the phone and take out orders. She looked a little overwhelmed but I salute her & make sure to tip!! Ordered the Mixed Fajitas, the shrimp was a little too salty for my liking, but it was not bad. read more

We stopped in on a Monday night and enjoyed a great dinner. La Fiesta has a very extensive menu with a great assortment of beef, chicken, and and seafood entrees. I had the Pollo a la parilla (grilled and seasoned boneless chicken breast with caramelized onions and cream sauce) and my partner had a fajita salad with chicken in a fried flour tortilla bowl. Both dishes were delicious and beautifully prepared. Very reasonably priced, too. Although two miles from I-70, it is well worth the side trip to the historic downtown area. read more

I only give this place 4 starts because I literally waited over an hour for my food. This place was WAY too busy on a Friday night and I had a to-go order of shrimp tacos and tilapia tacos. I was pretty upset waiting around that long but man the tilapia tacos hit!!! Probably won't ever drive through this small town again but if you do, give it a shot on a day it's not busy. read more

Didn't love it. Also didn't hate it. Leaving places like this without any strong conviction one way or another tends to send me toward the belief that there are people that probably love this place. I'm just not one of them. Probably worth a try. read more

La Fiesta - View from the street. - Mexican Near Me - Abilene, Kansas

We got an early start, driving back to St Louis from Colorado Springs and Abeline turned out to be the place for lunch. We pulled off and immediately found La Fiesta for the sixth Mexican restaurant meal in 8 days. Some of these were excellent and some were not. La Fiesta ended up kind of in between. Chips and salsa were pretty standard, but the good thing for us is that the salsa was not loaded with onion and cumin. After some pretty mediocre chicken enchiladas in Salina a week before, I went the safe way with huevos con chorizo and good soft corn tortillas. This was very good. The chorizo had good seasonings and a little heat. The serving was enough that I took half all the way home to St Louis. Ms T had a taco salad with ground beef, gringa that she is. She loved it. La Fiesta is another in the long line of cookie cutter family Mexican restaurant that every town has at least one of. Some I would not re-visit, but for what we had, we will stop back if the timing is right on our next trip to The Springs. read more

We're in town for a couple of nights and came here for dinner on Tuesday night. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Margaritas and food were very good! Would definitely return when in town. read more

La Fiesta is one of our favorite restaurants. Great food. Good service. Would recommend this.

The Mexican food is different from California's which is where I'm from. Saying that now I know what Mexican food in Kansas is like. Family friendly, warm, casual. A lot of food for the money. The waitresses are helpful and ready to answer all questions. Decorations are colorful and bright. The minion pinatas are adorable. A nice restaurant. read more

My wife and I waited by the hostess table for more then 5 minutes. The waiter and waitress passed us ten (10) times without even acknowledging us. We soon departed in discuss with the inexcusable disregard for customers. No acknowledgment by the staff to customers on any day is a sign that you are not important to our business. Yes there were tables open. read more

There is a waitress there that seated my Mom and Uncle and I this evening and she didn't come back to see if we wanted more drinks. She brought our dinners but that is all. She then got on her cell phone and just forgot about us. Then when we flagged her down she said that she was not our waitress anymore. They are always wanting wait staff. That is not good. They never clean the front door which they need to do. read more

A really solidly good meal. Hard core Mexican purists might find the amount of cheese to be over done... but I really enjoyed my meal. I had a bit of that "drunk from food" happiness as I paid my bill. I missed 5 stars because I thought the price was a touch high and the service just missed the mark a bit (I'm new to Kansas so perhaps this isn't so odd regionally) I'd happily eat here again tomorrow. read more

Awful food. Not worth the money and it is not expensive. I can't believe all the good reviews. I am not sure what the brown sauce on my enchilada was. read more

This restaurant is tucked way near a motel--but it's truly a hidden gem. Their food is generously portioned, as are the margaritas! The pricing is great considering the HUGE amount of food you get. One of my favorite parts? I'm allergic to corn--and La Fiesta makes flour tortilla chips. Dip them into La Fiesta's queso and you'll never want to leave. There is a large selection for vegetarians as well, which is rare in the area! I'm from San Antonio, Texas, so trust me when I say I know good Mexican food. read more

Good food but you tend to have a long wait in seating, drinks, then ordering, and again in delivery of food.

Looking for dinner off of I-70. This place is only one minute off the highway hidden next to a gas station in an off brand hotel. I almost missed it. Perhaps I should have. You start off with your normal chips and salsa. First round is free. Additional basket is $1 for chips and for another 1/4 of a cup of salsa is 50 cents. Menu is your basic. Since I had no idea of what they were like, I went with the combo. The chili relleno was a ground beef with a flat piece of pepper on top of it and covered with cheese. The enchilada was okay - nothing to write home about. The tamale was very very very dry. The end was so hard it was not edible. Not worth the $15 they charged. I guess the good thing is I didn't leave hungry and the server was very friendly. read more

Would recommend you find a diff place if in the area. I dislike writing reviews like this but we went into the place with a party of 4 on a local's recommendation. With 4 of us in the party, it wasn't just me. The place has seats worn to the point there is very little solid left of the vinyl. The walls has spatters of meals gone bye and no signs of being cleaned off. The menus were honestly gross, as were the drink menus on the table. We ordered margaritas "on the rocks" as I guess they don't have a blender or ice chipper. The drink was strong but good. The meal I ordered was the pollo loco but others had a vegetarian chimichanga and taco salads. All of us got our food that looked OK, but eating it was a salt bomb. It wasn't slightly over seasoned, it was sea water level of salty. Realize this is after drinking a margarita w/ salt on the rim so that should take a lot to taste salty after that. We courteously ate what we could and enjoyed the company. Paid our bill and left but did tell the guy at the till of the issue when he asked about our experience. He asked on what food and we told him. He said that was weird. The only thing that saves this from one star is the staff was decent. read more

I was impressed. It's a small hole in the wall. But the shrimp fajitas were to die for. Service was very good also. Some of the best Tex-mex I've ever had. And I'm from Texas. read more

I don't get back here often but when I visit Abilene I always come to La Fiesta. I came here mid afternoon around 3 PM and almost no business but still the food and service were spectacular. My server was Nancy and she made sure I had the best meal and service possible, I will continue to come here every time I'm in the area. Just about the only restaurant I'll come to when heading east read more

Basic Mexican food. Authentic. Beef is light and tasty. Beans good. Relleno not top shelf. Tacos, shells from the box. Rice good. Strawberry margarita, tasted like strawberry syrup. Atmosphere authentic. Combinations $11.00. That's a good deal for a filling meal. Next time I will want to try a speciality. read more

My waitress was very rude and didn't listen to much of what we'd asked. i order the quesadilla mexicana. it didn't say there was inions and peppers in it and when i asked nicely for a remake she gave me an attitude and then got irritated when i asked for a refill with my family. will not be coming again. very slow. unresponsive staff read more

The staff took very long to acknowledge my table. Once we were finally acknowledged, the waiter never checked back in to see how things were. She finally checked back in and it was to give us our checks. There was someone who picked up our dishes once we were done eating and he asked me when was i leaving in a very rude manner. It was nowhere near closing time for that question to be asked. I would not come back here again. read more

I come to Abilene once every few years to visit the Eisenhower library for research. And La Fiesta is always on my list of places to eat. The margaritas are the size of swimming pools. If you order a large bring your swim trunks. The food is decent and the wait staff is attentive. It is a great place to meet up with people. read more

Great restaurant for the traveler passing through. Good service. Good food. Great prices. Recommended.

This restaurant is next door to the Best Value Inn, and is really part of the motel complex. The entrees were inexpensive, tasty, and huge. I brought 2 teenage boys with me, and they couldn't finish their meals. Almost all the entrees were less than $10, except for the seafood entrees. I had the cheese enchiladas, that were smothered with pork chunks in a sauce of tomatos, peppers, and onion. Unusual, but very tasty. The three of us were stuffed full as ticks for $25 at a sit down restaurant for the dinner meal. read more

Update: Prices have gone up (where hasn't) so it's not as great a value as it was before, but it's still decent prices, and good food. You just have to know what to order to get the most bang for the buck. My favorite: LaFiesta Nachos which are huge and have beans, beef, chicken, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, cheese sauce, and chips for $11-ish feeds our two boys and myself, and my hubby gets his choice of meal to help keep it in a reasonable range to rival a golden arches purchase. read more

My family and i have recently moved into town. We have been tdy to Junction City and ate at the one there before. We believe this is the better one. The food was awesome, so awesome we ate there for dinner 2 nights in a row. Granted the second night was taking some friends there as we knew it was a good place to eat from night before. From the drinks to food both our family's enjoyed the meal. The only reason i am not giving it 5 stars is the waitress had lots of trouble understanding what we were ordering and tried to leave twice before getting all of our orders. We had to yell for her to come back and take the last couple orders. read more

Hard to decide between a 3 and a 4 star on this one. The good: vegetarian food had a variety of vegetables, not just rice and beans. The staff was very friendly. The not as awesome: margarita was neon green and undrinkable, and beyond the variety of vegetables, the surrounding tortilla/sauce/rice/beans were just sort of regular. read more

Margarita heaven. Good food, friendly staff.
