We have visited La Ferrovia several times over the years and have never been disappointed. I adore their Spinach Cannelloni but I can also vouch for the Pollo Alla Griglia and the Pollo Parmigiana. I cannot get enough of their white sauce. The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful and the food is some of the best Italian I've had. I cannot recommend it enough. read more

Cute little spot downtown we met one of the new owner he was very sweet...The Spinach Artichoke dip was fabulous. We forgot to get pictures of the chicken parm it was also good. They are in the middle of transitioning ownership so I can't wait to see what changes are to come. Ill be back in a few month on my next visit from Arizona. Eh. It was okay. I was kind of freaking out about the reviews so I went with the caprese sandwich to steer safe from the noodles. It wasn't my favorite caprese ever but it wasn't the worst. It was missing the balsamic vinegar which would have made it much better. I did get a side of penne noodles with white sauce and it was really salty. But maybe that type of sauce is supposed to be on the salty side? I dunno. The service was great though. I came alone with my two girls and she was so kind to play with them and talk to them while we waited for our food. Even though I wasn't a fan of the food, my two girls devoured the noodles. I've eaten there twice so far. The 1st time everthing was delicious except the bread. The entree, tomato basil soup and desert were to die for. The 2nd time, the entree was bland, the red sauce was runny and the soup tasted like it came out of a can and dishwater was added. The only good thing was the bread which was toasted perfectly. The service (same waitress) great the 1st time, okay the 2nd time. The ambiance is nice. My husband and I wanted to try something new. Big mistake. Right away, I knew it wasn't going to go well. It took some time to just get sat. Then it took 22 minutes to get our drinks and order in. We ordered an appetizer and I can't tell you how it was because we never got it. The soup was cool and the salad was warm. Ick. Then it took over an hour from the time we walked in to get our good. My husband will eat anything but he was less than impressed. I ate four bites of my spaghetti and I was finished. He looked and me and said "okay now what?" And I said I needed a box and our check and didn't want to wait 30 minutes for it. We stood in the front for 10 minutes while we waited for someone to help check us out. Finally some guy came out from the depths to help. They still tried to charge us for the appetizer. As we walked out, my husband said "well that's an hour and a half we will never get back." One of my favorite Italian places, especially on 25th. (I know I've written other reviews, but for some reason - maybe after change of ownership - they seem to be missing here.) Small, intimate restaurant with great service. Mid-week dinner with a friend. Ordered the Spaghetti Con Polpette and a flavored San Pellegrino mineral water. Portions were good - I had leftovers - and Donnie killed it on service. Asked for the sausage instead of meatballs and wasn't disappointed. Will always be my favorite Italian. So I called in a to go order and was having high hopes. I've been to a few restaurants on 25th and figured why not. Yea so I think not even smelling pasta or anything cooking, baking nothing should have been the sign but I was still trying. So I get back to my hotel and add 30 seconds of heat to the lasagna and it still seems like it's under cooked. I have wanted to try this adorable place since we moved to Ogden. I love Stella's (which is across the street) so we usually go there. I love that La Ferrovia is open for lunch (and Stella's isn't). There are entrances to the restaurant from 25th Street or from the parking behind. I love the brick decor and Italy pictures throughout the restaurant. We had a very kind waiter and good service. Food is made to order, so it's a great place to go on a date and have time to visit while you wait for your food. On the waiters recommendation we tried the cheese bread, the tomato bisque soup, the meatball sub and the spaghetti & meatballs. The bread is made in-house and is very good. I loved the tomato bisque soup, it tasted like my homemade recipe. The soup, bread & Mt. Dew is the perfect lunch in my opinion. The meatball sub was served on their grilled bread and homemade sauce. It had a slightly smokey taste that I couldn't pinpoint so I would not get that again, but will try another sandwich next time. My husband loved the spaghetti & meatballs. Overall I would describe eating here like you are eating at your grandma's Italian kitchen. Very solid food, but nothing pretentious or special. If you're looking for fine Italian with stronger standout flavors I would recommend Stella's. For families, traditional familiar Italian favorites, and for lunch I would recommend La Ferrovia to anyone. We will be back to try more dishes for sure. Been here several times over last ten years- service is always very friendly. Ambiance is good- you can people watch 25th. The food, however, has always been a real struggle for me. Chicken Parm and garlic bread somehow misses- hard. Beef raviolis are good enough- would get again most likely. I don't love the red sauce used on any of this and the cheese appears to be pulled straight from a bag and barely melted. Also I'm from the east coast where we take our Italian food overly serious so maybe I'm just being over critical. read more

We had family in town and wanted to have some good Italian food. The service was excellent (Savannah)! Very attentive and kind. However, the food was not great. It was exactly as described by other reviewers. "Chef Boyardee" style lasagna. Bitter meat sauce. Dry shrimp scampi. It seemed like the food was warmed and left to cool. Plus it was sad that shrimp scampi was basically served as a side dish to the noodles in meat sauce. All in all, not too impressed but, could at least eat if others wanted to go. read more

La Ferrovia is my new favorite! The sauce is amazing both the white and the red. The calzones smothered in sauce are so good. The spaghetti and meatballs are my absolute favorite. Don't miss the Tuesday special creamy sausage rigatoni it gives the spaghetti a run for it's money. The Bistecca is mouth watering. They have gluten free options that you wouldn't even believe are gluten free they are so delicious even the pizza. I eat there at least once a week and have tried almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed at all. Sometimes the wait can be a little much but no different than any other place and it is definitely worth the wait. The service is good. They have very friendly staff. read more

Seems like the new owners have no regard for keeping it one of the nicer restaurants on 25th street, especially considering they allow their waitresses to dress like they are at Hooters. I never thought I would see the day where I walk into the notorious La Ferrovia and hear Maroon 5 playing. It has always been classy, Italian music. I am so sad to see another classic Ogden restaurant ruined. The ambience gone, the customer service is mediocre, and that was the first bad meal I have ever had at Ferrovia. Not only was it bad, after two bites I was looking to see what other restaurants were still opened. My favorite alfredo sauce in the entire world? ruined and had me gagging. My calzone? Hollow bread. No filling and absolutely black on the bottom. The waitresses didn't apologize or even acknowledge that my husband and I didn't touch our food. Even that could have turned a bad experience better. The last time I went to La Ferrovia was about 10 years ago and I decided to bring my mother here for her birthday the past week. We are originally from the midwest United States and the atmosphere of La Ferrovia has such a Chicago-like Italian restaurant that we felt right at home. Do not expected fancy American Italian dinning decor or tables but rather Grandma's kitchen and dining room type feeling. The old brick of the building adds to the old time feeling. I ended up ordering the Eggplant Parmigiana. Each entree comes with a starter simple salad of lettuce with dressing. I highly suggest their house dressing, which was a carrot vinegarette. My meal was gorgeous, with the main entree to the left in a red vegetarian sauce and the right with penne pasta cooked perfectly (al dente) in a white, alfredo like sauce. Pros of the dish include an overwhelming amount of flavor without too much cheese on the eggplant parmigana. The cons include a little saltier than I would like and extremely rich. Several months ago I ate there and was a little dissapointed, the management had changed and it wasn't as good as I remembered. Service was good and worth the 1 star. The food is terrible. I would say it's glorified cafeteria food, but it's not glorified at all... just slop on a plate. We had the combo with a meat that can only be called questionable, boxed tortellini (overcooked) in a bland white sauce, rigatoni in spaghetti-o sauce, and overcooked penne in flavorless jarred Alfredo sauce. The American Beauty penne pasta was cooked well, and the sauce was alright. The soggy calzone wasn't my favorite so if I go back again, I will request that without the sauce. Service was decent although the waitress couldn't remember what our drinks were and whether or not she had brought them or our salads to us. But she was nice and the staff was friendly. I'll probably go back and try it one more time before writing them off but the pasta on the store shelves is cheap enough that you might as well just buy it from Smith's and follow the boiling instructions on the back. I had the salad with the carrot vinaigrette. Intriguing. Needed some sweetness to balance the acid, but otherwise tasty. My entree was the tortellini. Meat and cheese inside with a white/ Alfredo sauce. Which I thought was an odd combination. Almost like a fancy Hamburger Helper? The Alfredo was yummy, but my tortellini were drowning in it. I think a red sauce would have been a much better compliment. The Alfredo with the meat and cheese filling was too rich; I could barely eat half. My date had the combo platter with the beef bolognese, and penne with a white and red sauce. It looked so plain boring. Like something out of a jar. The beef bolognese--which I tried--was odd. It wasn't a traditional meat sauce. It was a very flat, square, piece of beef coated in a kind of breaking, with a piece of half melted cheese on top. Hardly know how to describe it and would never want it again. Nothing about this place seems like authentic Italian. It feels like a lot of cutting corners and taking something simple and twisting it badly. Also needs updating inside badly. This would have been two stars but service was excellent. I came here after being completely ignored at their competitor down the street. A lot of the reviews here talk about the service. My first experience was with a woman who had a super short attitude and told me to "Sit here". After watching for awhile, she knew all the regular customers. It makes me believe she is part of the family running the place. My server, though??! He was amazing! I had great service. Some other reviewers say the wait for food was too long. It says right at the top of the menu to be patient because all orders are made to order. What the heck are people complaining about? I asked the server this question, "I know it says to be patient, what is the realistic expectation of my food arriving at my table?" My server was honest and said about 20-30. Then followed up to let me know my order was 13th in the queue. So, yes, the wait for your food is long. Some other reviewers were skeptical about the pasta and the white sauce. The sauce on the pasta is not a thick sauce but it tastes great. I would go back. read more

I've eaten here before & had the calzone. Very good! This time, not so much... Ordered the shrimp scampi. Plenty of pasta, meager serving of eight small shrimp, that were over-billed by the description on the menu. The pasta seemed to be from a can, which I didn't expect in a place that does a good job of presenting itself as authentic. Then came the tab. The value of the pasta dish was disputable given the lack of quality. I had one 12 ounce bottle of cider. Am I at the airport?? Really? $10!! Be forewarned!!
