My expectations from him were already extremely high because he had done such a great job with both of my sisters' wedding and he went above and beyond his scope to bring our dream into a reality. He is honest and gives you ideas and options without pushing them on you. He did more to coordinate my wedding than the coordinator who actually got paid. He is extremely responsive and responsible with a great personality. He is our go to person for any occasion and he is one of the few vendors I recommend to everyone. I wish there was a 0 or negative rating available on Yelp. Hovik the owner of LA event & Design ruined my wedding ceremony back in 2009. We met with him three times prior to the wedding. Since we saw how busy he was and each time he could not remember what we had talked about regarding the design of the Alter, we even printed out color pictures of what we wanted and hand delivered it to him. Every time he assured us he would execute as planned. No one behold when we walked in to the ceremony room in the hotel , the alter absolutely WAS NOT we had asked for. It was made so cheap looking. We felt so embarressed and humiliated. But it was too late to do anything about it on the night of our wedding. When we confronted him after the wedding he still could not remember what we were talking about, He said he was doing 5 weddings that night and could not remember us and even then we should not be picky. He still wanted us to pay his invoice in full or he would take us to collections. read more

I wish I could give this guy a negative star! He practically ruined my wedding. From one truck full of stuff missing, drapery being done so terribly that it almost fell on top of the guests, entrance decor fell on top of a guest's car and caused major damage, to his staff being rude and incompetent. He called me night before my wedding before I was about to sleep asking me about the layout because he had no idea what we has discussed. He caused me so much anxiety and stress until literally the night before our wedding. I cried my eyes out on the day of my wedding and multiple times since. Every time me or my coordinator spoke with him, we had to refresh his memory about everything. Stay away from him and find your self a professional company to work with. read more

STAY Away!!! This guy ruined our wedding and put my wife into tears. I wish I never met him. He promises to bring you certain things and then brings you COMPLETLY different things. His set up is horrible and his employees are extremely rude!!! I have no idea how this guy is still in business. Our wedding coordinator and I both tried contacting him to fix the issues and he was no where to be found and never picked up his phone. This was a total nightmare and I am writing this so no one else goes through what we went through. If you still want to choose him, make sure that you have in writing and PICTURES of everything he is promising you and pray that he brings those same things. Through out my wedding experience I realized that most vendors are not honest with you. Hovik was the only person who was so honest and trustworthy. I almost felt like my father was giving me advice for my wedding. He could have charged me so much more. He talked me out of purchasing things that weren't necessary and he worked within my budget. I will use his again for every occasion in the future. He is the nicest man in the world and he made my wedding so magical. I would like to start off by thanking Hovik for everything he did for our wedding in 2010. The man has an amazing heart and he chooses to be in business to see the smile on your face! I agree with the other reviewer, he absolutely knows how to drop jaws, as he dropped mine. We had very high expectations! We wanted to have a glamorous wedding on a tight budget, so we kept on cutting our guest list. We met with Hovik a few times, he asked us a few questions and said leave it up to me. I really did not know what he was going to do, which concerned me. At that point, my fiance then (husband now) said leave him alone and let's just see what he does. All I can think was . . . is he listening to me! It this going to turn out what I want. Well, he sure was listening! He went ABOVE and BEYOND what we asked for! I could not believe it. Do to some challenges we ended up holding the ceremony at my condo and he transformed a very tight space into a amazing ceremony location. He used drapes, crystals, lights, pillars etc. - just amazing. Walking in, you could not tell that I lived there. That was my house. My reception took place at Rococo in Pasadena and Hovik transformed that space into magical sparkling room with sheer drapery, lights and crystals not to mention other things hanging everywhere. It was amazing. I had never seen or imagined Rococo looking that way! My guest were even complementing. It was so magical that even the manager and waiters of Rococo came up to my husband and I and said that they have never seen Rococo look so classy and beautiful. Hovik is not only an wonderful individual, but very talented with an amazing imagination. Please go see him, tell him what you want and leave it up to him.
