Great little restaurant. Easy on and off the freeway accessibility. Parking a little of a challenge but we got lucky just out front (it was early on a Thursday). The place was smaller than we anticipated but that was just fine. We were the only ones there, so got all the love :) The homemade tortillas were by far the favorite and we could see the gal make them fresh in the kitchen while we sipped and waited. I wanted to try everything but had to get the Nopales con Huevo (cactus w/ egg) which is hard to find on most menus and it did not disappoint. My partner opted for a simple refried beans, rice and tortillas and was more than satisfied. The house made salsa was great with just enough spicy. No beer or wine but a wide array of other cold drinks. It was so memorable, we made a point to revisit on our drive back!

Combination 3 - I could only finish two items and had a huge beef tostada to go!!!

This restaurant has some of the best Mexican food outside of my abuela's home. Totally authentic Mexican rice and the crunchy taco (taco dorado) is the bomb!!!! The torta was huge as was the chicken dish Pollo campestre with fresh steamed vegetables. Outstanding food. Do not let the humble restaurant worry you, and let the food do the talking. Our server, Melissa, was so sweet and spoke both English and Spanish. Excellent service!!! 5 stars from Phish!

Chile Relleno and Chicken Tostado Combination Plate.

This place has been described as a hole in the wall, and it is. Small, family run, 7 table. And if you want a Chile Relleno that is hot, fresh, and still crunchy? Try one here. The sauce is flavorful and mild, cheese is like Italians describe as "telephone wires." This is a easy stop off 101 from either direction.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Los Angeles. Service was slow, but the food was good. I ordered the chilicilles, which were good and spicey. My daughter liked her cheese enchilada, and my wife enjoyed her Machaca Con Huevo. Sadly, they don't serve chips and salsa.

    Great breakfast!

The food was very good and great customer service. I requested extra onion and lemons and they brought them to be right away. The location is small, but worth the stop for anyone who wants to have authentic Mexican food.

Little hole in the wall gem you're going to find in Gonzales, CA. The Hispanic community always makes you feel at home and this place is no different. Home cooked style food that's about authentic as you can get. Highly recommend the street tacos and huevos rancheros. Trust me, you'll b back.

    Asada burrito

The asada burrito was delicious and the staff were all lovely. Great stop on a road-trip!

    Gordita de asada.

Ordered take out foe the first time on Sunday from La Enchilada and it was so good! The Gordita was fresh, crunchy yet soft and filled generously with tender asadas the Gordita held....didn't fall apart! The Molcajete was so good and very filling. My brother shared and it had a little kick to it but all the meats and shrimp were delicious. It's a small place but worth it!

Easy to find if you're coming into Gonzales, via Gonzales River Road, once enter town-straight ahead. Parking is limited, but a short walk is easy. One aspect of this place that keeps me coming back is - everything is made to order. The menu has all the favorites, but there are also some surprises. I once brought my very picky Dad for breakfast and he loved the birria de chivo, my niece had menudo, and I had a "gringo" breakfast burrito . Every visit has been good. Keep up the good work

Home made corn tortillas, delicious menudo and good coffee, our weekend treat!

We enjoy coming here every weekend. The menudo is delicioso and the service is great!

    Al pastor and chorizo.

I stopped by for a quick snack, a couple tacos to top off the tank and then it was time to go. But two bites into the tacos I regretted not staying and having a larger meal. The carne asada was good but the al pastor was amazing. No salsa needed. These tacos are wonderfully tasty all on their own. And I was kicking myself that I skipped the drink. When the food's this good you know that the aguas frescas are amazing.

This place has delicious food. I had the molcajate and the homemade corn tortillas just topped it off. Highly recommended

Cute little family-run place with friendly staff and delicious food. I've made it my regular stop when I'm in Gonzales.
