Traveling back to the Bay Area from a SoCal college tour with my students, we stopped in a small town and found Lorena's Taqueria. A quintessential "mom and pop" restaurant, Lorena's Taqueria welcomed all 15 of my hungry students without any advanced notice. When I say "welcomed," I mean smiles and that hospitality that you would find only in a small town with familiar faces and "regulars". With a staff of maybe 3 or 4 people, they made all of our orders quickly, hot and ready, fresh off the stove. The tortillas were homemade; I mentioned that I was allergic to flour, and within minutes, he had produced a corn tortilla to wrap the love within a burrito. The food was tasty, fresh, flavorful. Can't beat "momma's cooking"! We even met Lorena and her family, and they were gracious enough to let us take a picture with her family. Good honest folks and a tight-knit family business. Hospitality goes a long way; we must be more grateful for our essential workers; they take care of us, so we must take care of them.

This is a super burrito?? They need glasses

Over priced and tiny portions for the price. I ordered a Quesabirria plate. It clear states plates come with rice and beans. They gave me beans in a tiny cup and no rice. I asked the girl at the register. She looked like a deer in the head lights. She was confused what rice was. My husband's expensive burrito was made for a small child not a hard working man on his lunch break. They also gave themselves a tip. She never told us we were going to get charged extra for breathing inside their tiny empty restaurant. If y'all see a Mexican restaurant empty and a huge line at the Mexican restaurant across the street, go across the street. This restaurant is empty for a reason. Rude customer service, hot as fudge inside (it felt more like a sauna ) and tables were dirty AND terribly small portions. I gave my husband one of my two Quesabirrias. Did I mention we paid over $30!!! , I was starving by the time we left the restaurant Lorena's deserves -stars!! 1 star is far too generous.

Mojarra Frita

Ate inside and food was tasty. Ordered two dishes Mojarra Frita (fried fish, rice, beans) and the Quesadilla Michoacana with carne asada. Both plates were big. The Quesadilla is on a big football sized homemade tortilla. The fish also came with homemade tortilla. We order Mojarra everywhere that has it and this one was average. Fish was big but kind of mushy like it was frozen. Rice and beans had good flavor. Never had a Michoacana style quesadilla but it tasted good and had lots of meat, cheese, crema and fixings. There inside dining was open while the place across the street was still take out only.

Who would have thought off the 101 in a sleepy little town was this gem. Family owned and operated, freshly cooked and served. Nice to support a small business in a small town.

Enjoying a great lunch here at Lorena's In beautiful Downtown King City, California. Be sure to stop by on your way to the wine country.

This restaurant is fantastic ! Excellent food, very quick and quality service, easy access and parking is a big bonus too. When your heading to the Silicon Valley or to the wine country take some time off the beaten path and check em out.

Carne Asada $14.99

I hate to be giving this place a 3 star. It has the potential to be a 4 star if the food tasted better. I ordered the carne asada plate. It came with beans and rice and a small salad, if you can even call it that. The beans had not taste to it and a little on the runny side. The rice did taste pretty good and it wasn't hard like I've had in a lot of places. Now the carne actually tasted better than I thought. The seasoning was pretty good, but it was over cooked. A little on the dry side. With such a thin piece of meat, it was definitely left on the grill a little too long. My wife ordered the lengua and I had a bite and it was very bland. It was tender though, but had no flavor. We also ordered a large Jamaica for $2. Don't know how big it actually was, but it looked like a 36 or 40oz cup. It was good and hit the spot. And for $2, definitely worth it. Also, not sure why, but they have a giant 65" flat screen in the back. I guess that's for watching soccer or other sporting event. The restroom is outside towards the back of the building. It didn't have a smell, but does need a make over though.

Michoacana Quasadilla

I was craving a quasadilla made with corn flour. So I decided to give this place a shot. I ordered over the phone so I didn't get the price, partly my fault. When I arrived, I was charged nearly 16$ for a "michoacana quasadilla". I was surprised at the price and asked what it came with. When I got home, I opened my plate to notice a really small portion of rice and beans. Beans were runny with no flavor at all. Salsa seemed like it was sitting all day. The quasadilla looked more like two tacos. Tortilla falling apart as well. Such a bad experience, as I even drove all the way back to the restaurant to ask for a refund or an exchange. They said "no, you get what you pay for". I will never return here, and do not recommend at all. Save yourself some time and go to Tacos La Potranca across the street. If zero stars was an option I'd give it to them.

This little corner cafe is Great! The servings are flavorful and well presented. I had the Burris, and I was longing for more! Good staff, clean, and simply and nice place to grab lunch.

Menu with current prices

One of the more authentic Mexican restaurants in King city. My favorite dish is Mojito Frita. Twice cooked fish with refried beans rice and salad. My wife who is from Japan swears by this recipe. I'm not all that crazy about the chili rellenos' which Is usually the dish I judge Mexican restaurants by. For those I prefer Guadalajara which is about half a block away.

Al pastor quesadilla

People here are friendly and the service is very good. I got the lengua quesadilla with corn tortilla (I was so hungry that I ate it before taking a decent picture). My boyfriend got the al pastor quesadilla with flour tortilla. Both tasted great!

I'm gonna start by saying, I like really good Mexican food! The food was okay, but I would not classify as "good". They are charging way too much for the quality of food. I wanted to try something new, but it was not worth the money.

Overpriced for basic Mexican food. Stopped by on a Tuesday because King City Grill was closed.

Yay to the freshly made tortillas. Menu isn't super impressive but it was the only place we could find with brunch options.

What an amazing gem this is in King City!! I was coming home from a camping trip in the area. I saw…read morethe reviews, the pictures and I had to try it!! This is one special family owned restaurant. The food is amazing!! The portions are plentiful and the flavors are divine. I was greeted upon entry by a very lovely young lady. She was very nice and provided excellent customer service. I had the bang bang shrimp appetizer and let me tell you....BANG BANG!!! The shrimps were large and in charge. I got at least 6, maybe 7 or 8. I tried to count afterwards, but I mangle my tails looking for all the shrimp meat!! They were so crispy and crunchy. Super fresh and uber delicious. BANG BANG says it all!!! A must have menu item if you love shrimp. I also had 2 of their signature surf n' turf tacos and they were very yummy. Every order that came out for other patrons looked delicious. Everyone had that whoa look on their face when their food arrived. I saw some great looking Michelada's come out with big shrimps on the rim!! They have a full bar as well and every table has a copy of today's newspaper...nice touch. Spectacular restaurant people!! The kind where foodies drive 40 minutes one way just to eat there, because Castro's Surf and Turf is an elite food experience!!

This was a pit stop before reaching the west entrance of Pinnacles NSP coming from the east…read moreentrance. Saw a lot of hype in the reviews and wanted to check it out. Ambiance: Walking in has the vibe similar to a sports bar but as a sit down restaurant that serves surf n turf. A wooden boat hanging up on the ceiling and themed with space & fishes. Service: The worker was nice, but the restaurant felt like it was understaffed. Surf and turf tacos $6.39 (3.5/5): If I'm being honest, as much as I wanted it to taste as good as the reviews say it is. It was good but not amazing nor bad. It had a good amount of asada and 2 fried shrimp with a tangy sauce. As I was eating it, it definitely needed more sauce, as the orange sauce was not enough. Had to use additional provided hot sauce. 2 is enough just to be kind of filling. All the hype in the reviews, it definetly does not live up to it at all. It's a good spot but not exactly amazing.
