Taco chicken Fajita and steak fajita

Before moving we came to La Doña ALL THE TIME! great food, great service and not that bad for the price! Two years later we finally came for the first time and I was really excited cause Baby E was making me crave Mexican food! A big change since our last visit: no unlimited chips & salsa people..... they cost $1.50 now ... i mean which Mexican restaurant does not have unlimited chips & salsa? if your going to charge.. you better bring me a lot of chips & salsa (that's not the case here) w too hungry and couldn't wait to take a picture so i eat my chips, but the salsa is the same that came with the tacos (tiny) Another shocking thing that happened was that every single thing we wanted they were OUT! They did not have Guacamole.... If I had a restaurant BELIEVE me i would not let it open without guacamole our server did not wright down our order, which was pretty impressive... until she brought my plate wrong (2 chicken fajitas instead of 1 chicken fajita, 1 steak fajita and 1 Ropa Vieja, but they brought the extra taco I was missing (Ropa Vieja) and we didn't have to pay for it. The food was great, we had to wait a lot of our desserts but it was so worth it! I do recommend this place, but not on a Friday Night!

    Complimentary Item: Chips and Salsa

This place is located in a small, area mall. Parking can be found out front or under the building in a single-level parking garage. Traffic is a bit tight around the area. The interior has a bar with a few tables in the seating area. They also offer outdoor seating on the patio in the front. We were immediately greeted with a smile and chose our seating. We were brought complimentary chips and salsa to start. The chips were thin and crunchy; pretty good but didn't seem homemade. The salsa was tomato rich but the fresh cilantro in it helped balance the flavor. We had a Heineken and a very good Límonade for our drinks. We ordered three tacos from the Maria's Taco Bar selection; Al Pastor (pork), Duck, and Mero (grouper). The mero taco lacked in creativity and flavor. It was plain and underwhelming in taste but the texture was flakey and tender. The duck taco had a very tasty sauce but the flavor of the duck itself was masked by it. The duck meat was slightly tough. The al pastor taco was the best out of the three and came topped with a small amount of pineapple purée. The pork meat was tender and flavorful. We also ordered the Enchilada Mixta o Ropa. We ordered two enchiladas as cochinita pibil (slow roasted, citrus marinated pork) and one as ropa vieja (shredded, stewed beef). But we received the reverse; two ropa vieja and one cochinita pibil. The cochinita pibil was more tender and flavorful with its citrus undertones. The ropa vieja was tougher and had a traditional beef and vegetable flavor. The refried beans and rice tasted as expected. The staff and our waitress were very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was refreshing and bright with an eclectic decor. The menu is Tex-Mex and the taco selection is fantastic. Stop in for some tacos and a drink. There's a taco flavor for everyone.

This place has been our favorite for years! You have to try their ropa vieja nachos, we can't seem to get enough of them. They do a half stack or full stack. We do the full! Located in this quaint little mall in Guaynabo.

Was very tasty and the veggies were excellent. My wife had the Elote which came with a salad and she added chicken and enjoyed her meal as well. No one came over until we finally walked into the restaurant ourselves. Once seated, we were immediately rushed because the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes and the bar was already closed. The food was where things went completely off the rails. The steak was flavorless, unseasoned, and brutally tough. I needed a serrated steak knife and a full back-and-forth sawing motion, so long I honestly thought the restaurant might reopen the next day before I separated a bite. What finally came loose was a fibrous, nearly raw rope of meat that was simply not edible. We told the server plainly that the meat was not tender and had no flavor. He went behind the bar, where we could clearly see him talking to the chef, who could also clearly see us. A few minutes later, the server returned and said the chef was willing to offer 20% off the steak. I said I wasn't eating the steak. I wanted to pay my bill, but I asked that the chef come out and speak to me directly. Knowing where this was headed, I recorded the conversation. I asked the chef if he genuinely believed it was acceptable to send out a $40+ steak, then offer about $8 off for something that couldn't be eaten. His response: "Yes, the steak is good." I told him I couldn't cut through it with a serrated knife. He repeated: "The steak is good." Over and over. At that point, I told him he was an idiot. I paid the bill -- and only later noticed I wasn't even given the 20% discount that had been offered. I still tipped the server 20%, because this wasn't his fault. As I left, I told the chef I would never be back, that I would write a review, and encouraged him to learn what good food actually is. It's painfully obvious this business is not in a good spot. Serving food of that quality, refusing to remove it from the bill or remake it, and instead arguing with a customer tells you everything you need to know. That's not confidence -- that's financial stress. Don't expect this place to be around much longer. If they are somehow still around, they need to start by getting rid of the Napoleon-complex, man-bun chef with the bad attitude, tiny vocabulary, and an objectively inferior palate. Arrogance doesn't tenderize meat, and confidence doesn't replace seasoning, skill, or basic competence!

We waved as we walked in to a waiter, pointed to a seemingly available picnic table, and he waved that we were good to go, so we sat right away, at 7:45p...after that more tables opened up. Drinks: 1. Pina colada - no bueno...like a coconut ice, not pina colada. 2. Passion fruit juice with fresh mint - delicious! 3. Cherry juice drink with alcohol - wife liked it, and I thought it was good. Appetizers: 1. Beef empanadas- I thought the crust overpowered the meat and onion, but daughter and wife loved it. 2. Nachos - terrible. Chips were stale and cheese/beans covering was bare, but then they gave us additional refried beans in a little cup, and straight I thought the refried beans were delicious. 3. Baha fish tacos - phenomenal!!! Entrees: 1 Chicken fajitas: disappointing. The spicing was off, on the chicken, and the guacamole was mostly sour cream. 2. Steak fajitas: very good and way better than the chicken Service was quick and the staff knew their stuff, but it took a long time to get the bill because other tables came in.
