I ordered a carnitas burrito, one of my favorites. The food took over 45 minutes to come after we ordered it. Our table ordered 5 tacos and a burrito.... 45 minutes is outrageous. Once it finally came, my burrito was about half the size of what it typically is (posted a photo of my last burrito from here for reference) Then, they cut the burrito and there were pieces of foil all in the burrito (pictured) really not okay. The worst part, there were three massive bones in my burrito!!!!! When I complained, they said that carnitas has bones in it... I've never had bones in my burrito. They asked if I wanted something else and I said I want the same burrito but without bones and they told me that if I got the same meat it would probably also have bones in it so they didn't remake it for me. If I bit down on it I could've broken my tooth or choked. Really really disappointed with my experience last night. I'll be back because this isn't "normal" for them, but I'm really disappointed. The place seats about 16 and is in the back of a small market - they also sell their meats to cook at home. if you are impressed by large fishbowl sized margaritas, wait staff that sings happy birthday, and a plate full brown covered in melted cheese, this may not be the place for you. if you are looking for tacos of excellence served by a friendly staff where you can also buy some spicy candies to take home, you will love this place. I made the mistake of getting everything to go, meaning the tacos were wrapped in a foil packet, the grilled onions and half a grilled jalapeno were in another foil packet, and the sliced raw radishes and lime were in yet another foil packet. Cups of red and green salsas were also carefully tucked in the bag. I really liked the tacos. I thought the carne asada was a little tough, though, and liked the pastor better (the flavor was really good too). The cilantro was fresh and the flavor really shone. In the three trucks that we stopped at that day, El Paisa's cilantro packed the biggest punch, which is a very good thing in my book... I'm a cilantro fiend. I also liked that the raw onions were very finely chopped. I usually HATE raw onions, but these finely chopped onions added just the right amount of bite. As for the salsas, I thought I'd like the green better but ended up enjoying the spiciness of the red more. Well, it wasn't that spicy but it had a bit of heat to it (kinda like a mild-medium), which was much needed, since everything else was pretty mild, including the grilled jalapeno. When I bit into it, I thought it was a green pepper in the shape and size of a jalapeno. For $1.25 a taco, I got a decent amount of food and would be able to make a meal out of 3-4 tacos. I think they might have the biggest menu selection of any of the trucks... anyone else agree? The cabeza is diced very finely, much more so than the norm, which was interesting. I think i prefer a slightly rougher cut (on the other end of the spectrum is El Pariente's cabeza, which has much more texture per bite), but El Paisa's style took nothing away from the flavors. A small but notable detail was that the limes served here, unlike most of the competition, were extremely fresh and juicy, barely had to apply any pressure to get quite a bit of that great lime juice onto the meats, and nothing goes better with cabeza than a little salsa and a lot of lime juice. so good. The pollo was standard, but, as you all know, standard in SW taco truck land is absolute tastiness. Other things I noticed: 1) catching a bad break i suppose, the strong wind today was carrying the truck exhaust (since the truck was running) up alongside the eating counter... so I smelled faintly like a lawnmower when I return home... too bad, didn't really notice while i was eating, thankfully. 2) two tacos and a coke was $3.75 ... a score of a deal by any measure... well, except by taco truck measure... EITHER their tacos are 25 cents more than the competition, or their cokes are a little pricier... a really puny value difference ultimately, and doesn't stop me from giving El Paisa my full-hearted approval. The menu had a large selection of items and was a little hard to read, but we all tried going the safe route to minimize risk. I got a plate of classic Mexican items which included a beef taco and cheese enchilada with chunks of seasoned beef. The other members of my party only wanted tacos, and that's where we encountered some problems. I could tell there was a communication error because the lady who took our orders was not understanding what were were asking for. 3 members of my party wanted beef and chicken tacos in corn tortilla, but when they got their orders they only received beef tacos with no chicken and they were in flour tortillas. It wouldn't be a bad thing if the tacos were good, but the sad thing is they weren't. The beef was kinda dry, didn't have much of a unique flavor to it, and the flour tortilla was a little stale.
