Downtown St. Albert is such a great place to wander and find cute spots to enjoy a cup of coffee. My friend and I had coffees here and pieces of cake. What I also appreciate about this place is the vegan options for dessert. I tried the vegan carrot cake and it was amazing. Never would you know it was vegan. My friend had the chocolate cake. This place has ample seating and a great atmosphere. It's very causal and relaxed. Great place to sit inside and enjoy or pop in and take your items to go. read more

Really wanted to try this cafe out for their cool coffee choices and breakfast menu. Street parking available and didn't have any problems finding a spot Saturday at 9:30am. 2 single-person use bathrooms that were nice and clean. Some patio seating which would have been nice if it was warmer out. Some nicm-nacks you can buy as well. Baked goods looked good. Sadly their milk steamer was broke so black coffee or ice drinks only. It was +7 out which was too cold to be drinking anything iced. So I didn't get the coconut chai latte I wanted. Boyfriend got a regular black coffee - it was fine. Was given creamers to add to it since we sat in. Boyfriend got the breakfast wrap - it was great 10/10. I got the feta and spinach quiche based off the recommendation of the cashier. To bad it was goat feta- I Really dislike goat cheese - so therefore I was uber disappointed with my meal. Crust was nice. Egg was a good texture but I really wish the cashier or the sign said it was goat cheese. Such a strong overpowering flavor. Overall disappointed. read more

I nice coffee shop in a really cute location in " downtown" St Albert. It was a beautiful day so I decided to sit on their patio in the sun and have a coffee before my appointment There have a big selection on cold and hot drinks as well as treats and food. The menu includes salads, soups and sandwiches. I was also happy to see they have different milk alternatives. I ordered a reg decaf toffee oat latte. I be reminded the lady that I wanted decaf. When it arrive it was definitely a large and piping hot!! It was so hot that I could drink it in the 25 minute window before my appointment. I enjoyed it on my way home but then a couple hours later realized it was definitely NOT decaf . Not good. read more

Stopped in here with a few friends on the way back to Edmonton from an event in St. Albert. Cozy little place, with lots of gluten-free items on the menu. I had a cappuccino and I thought it tasted great, albeit reading a bit more like a latte with extra foam, but I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. The others at my table said the soup was really good, as was the sandwich that was ordered. There was only one person working the front counter, so it did take a while to get acknowledged as he was busy getting other people's orders together. However, I would come here again if I am ever in St. Albert and need coffee. read more

This is a nice cozy cafe that my Mom and sister and Grandma's and I came to specifically because of the gluten free menu as my Mom is Celiac. We had soups, sandwiches and salads. They have really good cornbread (gluten free) and a nice caramel macchiato. It's priced accordingly to what you get, maybe a little pricey but I think it pays for the ambience you get. The staff is pretty welcoming, though a few of the girls seemed snooty. Overall a good experience! read more

I grew up in St. Albert, and while I go back frequently (usually every week or so), my trips are usually only to my parents' place (my childhood home!) and back home again. Yesterday, I had an appointment with my eye doctor, the same one I've been going to since a kid. His office is in downtown St. Albert, and I got there early (miracle), so I actually explored the city a little more than I usually do. Even though it's only been a few years since I've lived here, a few things have definitely changed. My beloved St. Thomas Cafe is no more. I had lots of memories of that place. Mostly awkward first dates in high school. But those are different stories for a different day. It's been replaced by La Crema, which looks pretty similar in set-up and tone. It's still comfy and cozy with lots of tables. I swung by and ordered a London Fog, my usual drink. It was very, very hot (a good thing) and pretty delicious. Not quite as sweet as I would have liked it, but still quite tasty. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but I did notice that everything is gluten free. Very cool! Next time I'm in St. Albert, I'll definitely come by for a cup of coffee here! read more

This is a cozy little cafe in St. Albert. I discovered it by chance, and I now whenever I come to St. Albert to watch a movie at Grandin Theatre, I make sure to stop by this little cafe. La Crema serves coffee, Italian sodas, alcoholic drinks (mostly beer and wine), as well as grilled paninis, soups and lots of yummy baked goods such as pies, cakes and cookies. There are even gluten-free foods available. The location of this coffee house is discrete; the place feels cozy, so it's no surprise that is gets extremely busy. Even when it is, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it's easy to spend several hours here without even noticing. Both food and coffee are excellent. What makes this place even more charming is that from time to time it hosts live performance nights. I had a chance to see a wonderful young guitarist perform 70s/80s songs. Food is consistently very good. The drinks are delicious, as well. Best of all, I adore the dining area. It's cozy and the ambience is comforting. The only downside I've noticed thus far is that there is usually only one staff member working whenever I go, so they are responsible for cashing out customers and then making their entire meal. While is this fine during slow periods, I believe it slows down overall service and must be quite stressful for the staff member. However, if you're not in any rush then the La Crema Caffè is a great option. read more

My Saturday mornings in the summer are always started with a visit to the St. Albert Outdoor Farmers Market. Located right in the middle of the Market is La Crema Caffé. Nothing makes the market any better than a great cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun. The morning starting goodness doesn't stop here, everything is gluten free! Pretend I didn't tell you that, because you never would have guessed that they were gluten free. Stop in for dinner for a great gf pizza or even a quiche and follow up with one of the most delicious desserts you will ever find. read more

Customer service has gone downhill. I had fond memories of this place. Had gone a couple years ago and had one of the loveliest matcha lattes in a huge ceramic cup. So I went back yesterday and had a hot chocolate that tasted like it could've come from a gas station. I was disappointed, I was in disbelief. And then I came back today, in denial (I was down here for the Farmer's Market anyway -- great way to spend a Saturday if I do say so myself!) -- and ordered a caramel macchiatio and my boyfriend ordered an iced matcha latte, and his order came out 10 minutes before mine. They forgot about mine. They even forgot about the brownie we were going to share until we reminded them. Yes, I will give them the benefit of the doubt -- they were moderately busy. But forgetting a customer's order completely, and then putting our drinks and food in styrofoam when we didn't even ask for anything 'to go' as a sort of, "Well, we forgot, take them, styrofoam, we don't care". I am a little shocked and appalled. Not to mention dissapointed. For a go-to local coffee shop, unfortunately, I will begin to look elsewhere. I may return sometime, but it may be in a begrudging manner at this rate. read more

It's not very often I found myself in St. Albert, since I'm usually on the other side of Edmonton, but I was in St. Albert today. I remember visiting this cafe last year, before attending a Litfest session at the library, and I wanted to go back. Of course my stupid GPS didn't recognize the address of the cafe (it also did not recognize half the addresses in St. Albert) but I found the cafe. Went in and ordered an Americano and a piece of carrot cake. The have a gluten free bakery so the carrot cake may have been gluten free. I didn't check (I'm also not celiac so it's no bother to me either way). The point being the carrot cake really good, nice and moist (or un-dry for those of you with an aversion to the "m" word). The coffee was good, they have a nice selection of coffee drinks. They apparently have fair trade coffee. I also saw a poster about live music and dinner, but I didn't investigate too much. I loved the yellow colour, and the pictures on the wall - not sure of it's of the owner's family or what but it gives a little homey touch to the place. Free wifi, plenty of seating. The coffee was good, nothing mind blowing, but good and the service was prompt and friendly. If I lived in St. Albert I'd likely make this my regular coffee spot. read more

Located in a really sweet part of downtown St.Albert; This corner cafe is a great stop to make before wondering around and absorbing all of the surrounding summer scenery. The coffee is pretty standard self-filling with milk and cream off to the side, but the price is right for the large Dixie cup. My husband got one of their 360 cold drinks, which was pretty flavorful. They offer a wide variety of gluten free food, but it appears that all of their food is pre made and frozen, so it gets microwaved when you order it. All and all, I'd return here for a quick cup of coffee. read more

This use to be one of my favorite spots to go to with my mom when it use to be st Thomas street cafe, there food was always made fresh and delicious, I know some people think that glutton free food is the way to go. They have redone the entire menu and made it all glutton free, as well as more so a society for their church following and I feel very unwelcome there. As for the food again, it is bland and lacking alot of flavor. read more

I used to like it here -until a few weeks ago I was there with my 2 yr old. I chose to sit at this one small table by the window. I didn't put her in the high chair as its way too small and her legs won't fit in it. So I had her on a regular seat. I had our drinks and a muffin on the table. The muffin was not good by the way. It was small dry and tasteless. Anyways, my kid stood up and leaned on the table. There's something wrong with the table. The table was very rocky and our drinks went flying and spilled everywhere. Another customer came to my assistance, he brought me napkins, and finally a server showed up to help. I was almost in tears because of the mess. It was really embarrassing. I told her there was something wrong with the table. I don't know if they ever did anything about it. I was also waiting for a sandwich that took 20 minutes to come. We went outside to sit at a table out there, and I was starting to be attacked by wasps because of the juice all over my legs. When my sandwich finally arrived it was awful! It was also completely dry and I had expected cheese to be on it and there was none. It was a turkey sandwich. I finally took my kid And went into the bathroom to wash us up and I got everything to go and I left crying. This place is over priced for food and coffee and service that's not even good. I use to come here alot with my family when it was Thomas st cafe, when it became la Crema i didn't mind going back until they started changing there menu I understand that maybe gluten free is better for some people but not everyone needs to eat it.. I loved the quiche one of the only places i would have bought-en quiche.. until it became glutton free, I find the food now lacks flavor and substance. As well as understandably I realize they are have the own religious beliefs but I don't come there to listen to them preach about it. read more

I pop in here the odd morning when I'm in St Albert for lovely lattes or teas and sometimes a snack. They have great mugs for when you are staying in, but if you are like me and it takes forever for you to finish, to go cups are also an option. A fairly standard menu when it comes to hot drinks, but all the usual suspects are there so it definitely can give you your caffeine or none caffeine kick in the morning. As for snacks I've only ever had the spinach quiche, but they do offer some gluten free options I've noticed in the pastry case as well. I unfortunately haven't really paid attention to the rest of their menu options, but look forward to venturing into it further in my subsequent visits. The staff is always pleasant and timely with the preparation of the drinks and food for the most part, this is where I'd say the 5th star could be garnered. When food is ordered with the drinks it tends to take a little longer than I would think is necessary, but by no means too long, just could be a little better is all. The quality is consistent and the space is always clean and inviting, it's definitely worth stopping in to try! read more

I went to this cafe for the first time last weekend and was surprised and impressed by their gluten free options. The menu offers gluten free pizza, sandwiches, chicken pot pie, and several desserts. I tried the gluten free chicken pot pie and it was pretty good. The pie was filled with chunks of moist chicken and veggies, all in a savory creme-based gravy filling. The crust was a little soggy on the bottom, but otherwise the pastry was flaky and light. My husband had a non-gluten free Italian sandwich and reported it was tasty. The price of our meal seemed reasonable, especially given it included a gluten free option. The service was just okay. The staff weren't especially friendly. Our meal took over twenty minutes to be served, which seemed a bit long considering my pie was simply reheated and a sandwich usually doesn't take too long to prepare. I used to love this place.. they had the best gluten free stuff and a nice atmosphere. But it changed owners a month or so ago. I am celiac and used to love the gluten free items they carried but they don't have the same gluten free things anymore. It always takes forever to get your food now. I used to grab lunch here on my break but it takes way too long to get the food now and it's disappointing anyways. It used to be really clean which I liked, being a bit of a neat freak myself... but now there are always dirty tables, dishes everywhere and overflowing garbage in the bathroom. It seems like they just don't have the staff to handle the volume anymore. Don't know what has happened to this place but it's just not as good as it used to be! read more

When this was St Thomas, it was good. Now, don't waste your time (or money). The owners haven't figured out who they are or what they are trying to be. Is it an Italian Bistro, Cafe or the corner Pub? The menu is massive (featuring soup and sandwiches to ribs), over priced and just mediocre in taste and quality. They have a bar - which, the beer on tap is old and skunky. The place is dirty, the overhead ceiling fan above the bar/gelato - you may have dirt fly at you. Really the entire place needs cleaning. The owners - well they are another story - seen today yelling at staff in front of the entire restaurant. Won't be back - suggest you don't either. read more
