First time at this library which is in the city hall plaza. It is across the street from Bonita High School. I signed up for a free library card. They have three library card faces to choose from. They have a large children's book area with a hanging dragon overhead. The books are all neatly displayed or shelves away. The library has an information desk to obtain book inquiries and the library is able to do inter library loans to obtain books from other LA county libraries. they told me it would take me a week. You have to wear facial covering indoors as they follow covid precautions and they have sanitizers located around the facility. read more

We enjoy coming to this library often! They have sanitary wipes for everyone to use, and they also have a section specifically for new books. There are also 4 computers for children to use with a 20-minute time limit for each session. I like this because kids don't end up staring at the screen for long periods of time and it lets other children have a chance to use it as well. The restrooms are older, but clean. Just like any other LA County library, there are up to 10 pages of free printing per day. My kids like printing coloring pages here and sit at the tables to read and color. The staff are also pretty friendly. I signed up my kids to have their own library card, and sometimes the librarian would give them a small sticker. During the pandemic, they gave little activity kits in paper bags for kids to go home and create. From time to time, they would have promotions where children read a certain number of books and get a gift card to In N Out for a burger. I love how they promote literacy for people of all ages. read more

I love how close this library is to me. I'm constantly checking out and putting holds on books so I'm so grateful for this place! They also have a good selection of travel guides on hand as well as DVDs. I have attended a few events prior to the pandemic such as their mochi making class, their composting event, and a movie tribute. Thank you for the staff for being a great part of the community and I hope there will be more events like that in the future! read more

awesome library, super old but definitely holds up. i go to bonita and sometimes i'll walk over after school and get some work done. the only things i'm not a huge fan of are how early it closes and that it's not open on mondays overall very good vibes in there read more

I was able to use their computers and printed what I needed. Easy to use and made it to the post office before they closed. They were nice to let me use scissors and a stapler that I forgot I needed to complete my packet. Thank you for your help. read more

This is kind of an older library but it's quite and well stocked. I like That it is also very central to city hall and the police dept. The only downside is that it is next to the high school and it gets packed after school with students so it can get a little loud. read more

This is a very small library in the Lavern area. Right next to Damian High School and The University of Laverne. That is what make this public library so unique. Most Damian students come here after school to hang out and get their studying on. They also have the childrens book area which is the largest of all the books. Limited time you can use the computers since its a small place with limited space. They also have magazine and old book sales here. Staff are wonderful. Its just a cool place to be. read more

I love this La Verne Public Library. The staff has always been friendly when we were there. I bring my kids for story time and let them hang out in the children's area while I look for books to check out for them. They have a great children's area for your kids to play in with lots of learning toys. There is plenty of room and tables in the children's section for homework or tutoring time. The library itself is small but they have a pretty good selection of books for kids and adults. They have a computer area for teens and adults and your allowed two one-hour sessions each day. The kid's in the children's area has always been pretty well behaved and using their inside voice but if you need to study or focus I would bring ear phones or noise cancellation ear phones. read more

5 stars for the library, 1 star for the senior center next-door. Nice, quaint, small town, quiet, public library. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. The La Verne library is part of the Los Angeles county library system. Large parking lot which is shared by City Hall and the community/senior center. My biggest complaint isn't with the library but the community/senior center next to it which takes up most, if not the entire parking lot (also used for the library). Apparently, the center has to have something going on every single day of the week and whatever it happens to be, completely fills up the parking lot leaving ZERO parking spots for those needing to go to the library. This is extremely aggravating!!!!! The solution? the senior center needs to STOP having so many damn activities every single day. That's the solution. If it wasn't for daily senior center activities, parking for the library would be absolutely wonderful! You shouldn't have to go to this much trouble, but the next time you go to the library, walk over to the senior center and grab a monthly calendar of events so you can avoid the library based around the senior center activities schedule. As I mentioned, it's ridiculous going to that much trouble and nor should you have to, but if you plan your library trip correctly, you might actually find an available parking spot in the lot even though it will still be further out in the lot closer to D street thanks to the senior center. read more

The Los Angeles County Public Library system is a fantastic resource with in-person and online offerings of books, media, and classes for all ages. Staff have always been knowledgeable and helpful. It always seems crowded at the La Verne location, which is comprised of one room containing both the children and adult collections together. In the hallway outside the main library room, there's bathrooms and a multipurpose events room. There are only four study carrels and two study rooms (the latter limited to 2 hours/per person/per day). I often find piled, stinky backpacks & luggage in or besides otherwise unused study carrels due to a large number of homeless individuals patronizing this location. The smell makes the carrels unusable. This library overall is quite loud most days as well, so be sure to bring your noise cancelling headphones. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I've been coming here for quite some time bc it's close to my home. Today I was kicked out of my study room bc they are now utilizing a sign up sheet. How have I been at this establishment for months and never heard of it and was told that I had to leave. Thanks.... So much for public place. They DO however allow HOMELESS to stay all day. just maybe one of the best-run libraries I can think of. I wish it was open everyday, but I'm not unrealistic, so I'll wish for something with potential. I love that its open till 8PM Tues-Thur. The wifi is great, and the staff will remind me when the doors close. I would suggest avoiding the 2PM-4PM hour for your book drop-offs due to car traffic - Bonita HS lets out next door at that time. read more

Overall, the library is well-organized and clean with many resources such as computers, printers, fax machine, and copy machine. Plenty of room to sit down and do work with many outlets. I do have one complaint and it is regarding the collection of books the library has. Their collection not only lacks culture but their books are extremely outdated. If you're looking for books about United States presidents, white supremacists, outdated theory, and irrelevant literature than this is your place! Also, the staff isn't very friendly besides the guy wearing glasses. The manager seems uptight and selective when it comes to serving the community. read more

I love the La Verne Public Library. It has a friendly staff that always says hello to you and are very polite and incredibly helpful. This library is always clean. And I'm in here so much that staff knows exactly who my children and I are and they always treat us like family. they have a great children's area for your kids to play in with lots of toys and activities. As well as a computer area that is custom fitted for kids. On the computers for teens and adults your allowed two one hour sessions each day. And they have a great selection of the most wonderful books, dvds and cds for children and adults alike. I go to this library practically everyday and read books to my children and even barrow books to take home with me to read. I love the La Verne public library so much, because it is most certainly a wonderful establishment and deserves every star that I gave it if not many more. read more

This place has a large children center. The children's area is spacious and seems like a great place for parents to take their kids. The library itself is very small with limited number of individual tables (in comparison to Claremont Public Library). Each table contains its own outlets, which is nice. The staff is unfortunately very unfriendly. I went to the front desk because I had internet issues. The whole time the girl helping me made no eye contact and was rude. When I told her my problem, her response to me was, "Well, I don't know. It should work." Obviously! Also, due to the small size, it can get somewhat noisy because you're close to the children's area. If you're a college student wanting to do some intense studying, I suggest looking for another place. read more

First time I had been back in a public library in 10 years...15 years?? IDK. I do know that they had wifi and I needed to use it. The overall librariness seemed good. They had little rooms for studying with multiple people and comfortable chairs and computers and a teen section and a kids section. Did you know you can borrow CDs and movies?? The library is like a friend who has unlimited funds and just buys everything and you only talk to him occasionally and when you do, you find out that he has this one kind of obscure thing you've been meaning to check out but haven't had the money and/or time. Anyway, there were books here and it's a library and I've written way too much about it for what it is. read more

Admittedly this library is not very big and the branch selection not very expensive BUT it is a county library so you can place holds and request materials from other branches. The staff is friendly and helpful and the online catalog is easy to use. My absolute favorite aspect about this library is the doors, an oversized tree that is both inviting and mysterious; very apropos for a library! read more
