    Soup Tom Yum

I am a big fan of Thai food and have travelled to Thailand so I know what Authentic means. I can tell you that La Colonie Thaï offers a vast and authentic menu. The decor is beautiful, the quality of the food is top notch, and the service was very welcoming! Price is very reasonable for a BYOW. Through my conversations with our server who happens to be the owner Suk (not sure I spell it right), I can see his passion and his dedication to his business. As for the dishes, my husband and I ordered the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup, and we shared a papaya salad, fish cakes, Pad Kee Mao and Red curry with duck. All the dishes were so flavourful! I feel that we've travelled back to Thailand! We finished off with the delicious and authentic mango sticky rice. Seriously, we really enjoyed all the dishes we've ordered. If I want to be picky, the only thing I would complain about is that the beef in the curry was not tender enough. I'm so glad I've discovered La Colonie Thai! It's definitively the best Thai restaurant in the South Shore, and one of the best ones in the Montreal area! Can't wait to go back and try some other dishes!

Madame Thai - Thai chicken fried rice

This year while vacationing in Montreal and staying with relatives in Longueuil, I wanted to try…read moreMadame Thai. I had seen it on previous visits, and this time we had been pretty well exposed to Quebecois food following our arrival to Longueuil, our time in Montreal, then to Trois-Rivieres, to Quebec City, and back. We were looking for something different, we enjoy Thai food in New York when it is really good, and we were hungry that day following an outing. One of our favorite restaurants where we live in Queens is an authentic Thai restaurant, so having been in Canada for eight days already, we were excited for something that was a little more familiar and without maple syrup. The menu is more akin to an Asian fusion restaurant than that of a purely That restaurant. For appetizers we ordered chicken dumplings in peanut sauce and steamed vegetable dumplings. The peanut sauced dumplings were delicious, served hot with a creamy peanut sauce that coated the dumplings and made them rich. The steamed dumplings were great too, simple with a perfectly seasoned sweet soy dipping sauce. I did order a Thai staple, sliced chicken and mixed vegetables in a ginger sauce that comes with white rice. The ginger sauce was light, a little sweet, and perfectly balanced. The dish was a perfect showcase for the better quality produce you find in Canada than in the US. The vegetables were all fresh and tasty and that was an even greater addition to the chicken and sauce. My wife and son are less adventurous than I am and what's more, neither eat or tolerate spicy food well, and my wife has a tree nut allergy (although she would concur that the peanut dumplings were great). My wife and son (9) had Thai chicken fried rice and was excellent, too. It was light and fresh yet full of flavor from well-seasoned chicken and vegetables that are stir fried before the addition of the rice. To me this seemed more like a chicken stir-fry entree that had mixed with a side order of rice at the table by us than chicken fried rice. Often, fried rice isn't good enough on its own but here it is. The portion, too, was large and it is garnished with fresh cucumbers, tomato and cilantro. The server we had, a young woman, helped us order in English and they do have an English menu. We would definitely go back and it's nice to find a non-Quebecois restaurant right in the neighborhood where we stay about 10 days out of the year on average.

Great pad see ew. Service was good. Great location in walkable vieux longueuil with outdoor seating.read more

The space has a fun, laid-back vibe that makes it perfect for a casual night out. We ordered: * Papaya salad * Wasabi shrimp ceviche * Steak Stuffed Wings: hands down the highlight of the night. It was such a creative, flavorful, and absolutely delicious dish. Every dish felt thoughtful and full of personality. They are creative but not over the top. Would definitely come back again next time I'm in Montreal.

I had a Lucy Liu which was delicious and had a little kick to it. The Thai basil was great counterpoint. The service was helpful and prompt and the gentleman knew the menu well. We started with the pork belly and shrimp chip combo that was in a slight sauce of red curry. The spices and flavor were delicious. We also ordered the pickled vegetables which was refreshing contrast to the meat. We also ordered stuffed chicken wings and green papaya salad. We ended with the desert of mango with sticky rice. The mango was perfectly ripe and sweet and tart enough to contrast with the coconut milk sweetened sticky rice. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the cooks work in the kitchen. The space and ambiance were lovely.

I love it with tofu and coconut milk and it's AMAZING! The lunch portions are just right; they won't be so huge as to drag you down for the rest of the afternoon and big enough to satisfy. I've completely forgotten the name of the warm, green cakey dessert that's always on the menu (papaya?); thick, satisfying and SOOO tasty! Yes, it's a bit on the costly side, but the quick and friendly service and the fresh and airy ambience make the price totally worth it. Five stars! Go go go! You won't regret it.

Upon a quick look at the menu it was clear that the prices here were a bit on the high side (ex. an appetizer side salad for $9). We decided to try the mango shrimp salad to share, the red curry beef for me, and the duck for the hub. The food came out quickly, and although the salad was good it was definitely nothing to write home about. I was looking forward to my curry and was really disappointed when it literally had zero flavour. Having had great curries around the city, I was expecting to be met with this warm, all encompassing deliciousness but instead was bored with the tastelessness of the whole dish. Hubby's duck was ok but nothing special. Overall, ended up spending about $70 for the above, and left feeling very unsatisfied.. won't be back :(
