I love Siam and, since I live in a tiny town without Thai food, I make it a point to go every time I have work in Montreal. It's always busy, but the workers are attentive. Plus, it's got such a great atmosphere and so much space, that spending time there is just fine. The reason I love it, though, is of course the food. I've never had a bad meal here. Not even mediocre. All excellent. Every dish is flavorful, the staff ask you the spice level you're looking for, and the helpings are huge. Coming from NYC i can't help but being a bit snobbish about authentic Asian cuisine. However Siam far exceeded my expectation. We had chicken pad thai (requested for less sauce added) Chicken Tom Kha soup Seafood Tom Yum soup Sautéed Gai lan (Chinese brocolli) Thai iced milk tea Amazing. Pad thai was good. Still on the sweet side but the fried tofu pieces and extra large serving of fresh bean sprouts made this familiar dish taste fresh and filling. Both soups were perfectly seasoned and hearty. The gai lan is wonderfully flavorfully sautéed with great flavors, and not your typical bland steamed gai lan. Thai iced tea was very good, and minus the food coloring we always get in the States (yes it's all food coloring that give the weird orange color). Quite impressed. Absolutely loved going to Siam! My friends and I headed over for a late lunch, and the service was great! Waiters were friendly, patient and gave great recommendations. The food was excellent and presentation was great too! Truly no complaints. The portions are large enough to keep you full & satisfied (even when sharing!) I loved that there are vegetarian and vegan options, giving customers with dietary restrictions the ability to still choose a meal they like, with the necessary adjustments available. The ambiance of the restaurant is calm and warm. There is low-lighting, spacious seating and a variety of seating options (high table, bar seating, booths, etc). Ordered for pick up. It was a little hard to get in touch with the restaurant. The first time we called no one picked up, the second time the woman put us on hold for 10 min, the third time a man finally took our order. We got the shrimp pad Thai and the beef in green curry sauce. Food was pretty good but both dishes had a lot of fillers (veggies). It's not a cheap restaurant so I would've appreciated a bit bigger portion or less fillers and more of the dish. I was missing Thai food so much so I was yelping a place to go during my vacation. I ordered the Pad Thai Chicken and the Pad Kee Mao with Filet Mignon. My favorite was the pad kee mao. I don't usually order pad kee mao but this one was so good. There was a kick of spice which I really needed. The flavors were incredible and I loved the sauce with noodles. The pad thai chicken was pretty good too. The restaurant is very spacious. There is a first and second floor to the restaurant. This restaurant seems to be very busy because I came on a Wednesday for lunch and it was pretty packed with people. After checking into a hotel near by we decided to try this place for lunch and overall it was a gem! The decor was upscale and nice cute ambiance inside. They do have outdoor seating available too. The service was amazing and the waitress was able to help us with our tourist related questions. She even understood concept of having one bill and splitting it in half vs two bills. You must try the lychee sangria if you go as it is so good! It can be a tad sweeter but not overly sweet! They have an extensive cocktail list to choose from. For food we ordered pad thai with chicken and red curry with chicken. So the pad thai is not my go to order for thai as I prefer drunken noodle however there was limitation on ordering drunken noodle with chicken and it wasn't recommended to order it vegetarian. Overall the pad thai was good and it wasn't overly sweet as it can be at other spots! The red curry wasn't spicy as it normally is however it was pact with flavor abd quite delicious. Our server was great explaining the menu and overall service was very efficient and attentive. We tried the pad sew (rice noodles, sirloin and gailan) and the vegetarian yellow curry (tofu, bamboo, baby corn, tomatoes). Both were super flavourful and heavily seasoned. The food here is absolutely incredible. I'm recently vegan so I've been exploring new foods. I took my mom on a trip to Montreal and this restaurant was a 5 minute walk from my hotel. The vegan pad Thai was phenomenal. I also got the vegan Massaman curry which was a 10/10. I gotta try to replicate this because it was so darn good. My mom ordered the shrimp pad Thai and she loved her food. She also got the crispy spring roll and she loved that too. A thousand percent recommend this spot. Me and my family were looking forward to a great experience at Siam, however I will have to say that the service was painfully slow and bad. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, located in a beautiful hotel and the ambiance is great. However, the poor service today just overshadowed all of it-- and we were one of 4 other people dining so it wasn't even busy. Our server would walk by us and not even acknowledge us, we waited for 45 minutes for our food and he didn't even come to ask if we needed more water or anything. When the food did come out, it was decent, and I would have given it higher stars if the service was better. Maybe pass if you're looking for good service. read more

The Thai roasted chicken fried rice, on the other hand, was insanely good! It even came with a whole roasted chicken! The chicken was super tender and paired well with the sauce it came with. This one comes as a recommendation from a coworker who's been here before. It's also very near to the hotel and looks like it has excellent outdoor seating! Let's check it out. Atmosphere/Appearance: Attached to a hotel on the main strip of Rue Rene-Levesque Ouest is this gem. You can walk right up the decorative stairs in the outdoor seating area complete with its own bar or you can walk into the main level to sit in that dining room, the choice is yours. We wanted to sit outside to enjoy the great weather while we still had the chance. The decor is so beautiful. The restaurant is so fashion-forward and modern. It's chic design is so clean and elegant. I loved it. It really felt like a place the "in crown" would totally be caught hanging out at. Service: Brandon was our server and I believe he was also the bartender. He wore multiple hats and took excellent care of us. He was personable, friendly, sweet, helpful and really allowed us to get to know him. Good luck chasing your dreams if you're reading this dude. Food: I started off with some Duck Wontons. I mean, duck is just THE thing to do in Montreal, right? Right. They were crispy, hot and super flavorful. The menu describes them as confit duck, button and Shiitake mushrooms along with green onion all deep fried in wonton wrappers then served with a plum sauce. Delicious. For my entree I went with the Seafood In Yellow Curry which is a concoction of shrimp, clams, calamari, scallops,long beans, cherry tomatoes, baby corn, bamboo shoots, kaffir leaves and Thai basil alll thrown together in a delicious coconut based curry sauce. It was fantastic and I'd absolutely get it again. Value: All prices are in $CAD. Duck Wontons = $13.00. Curry = $27.50. This is a bit more of an upscale Thai restaurant so I almost expected the prices to be a bit inflated, but they weren't horrible. Come prepared to spend some cheese because this isn't one of those hole-in-the-wall spots. In conclusion I'm very happy my coworker recommended this place to me.
