    Nice casual place to eat.

This place is a gem. Great food, great service, outdoor dining. I really enjoyed this. I had the dried noodle with braised beef. Nice and spicy and delicious. Had a nice conversation with the server, who was quite charming. Highly recommended.

Really good Thai food! the restaurant is cozy and inviting, you order at the counter and they are pretty quick. The menu does come with pictures now and it has a good selection to pick from, the portions are enough for one person and get an appetizer to share. A favourite of mine nearby!

I was left with the overall impression that an MBA was in charge of maximizing profit at your expense between interior space allocation, dish ingredients, proportions, menu offerings, and pricing. It is exceedingly rare to find a Thai meal that disappoints anywhere in the world, and especially for the cost involved this place didn't do it for me. The first warning sign was not being able to substitute meats in most dishes (never seen that in my life). You cannot have beef green curry for example - only chicken. And oddly as a Thai restaurant, this location does not offer common dishes like panang curry. As others noted you have to bizarrely pay and tip before eating. Pad thai was dry and missing flavor, and came with a disproportionately high amount of bean sprouts. I love bean sprouts but they provide you with a pho sized portion, cheapening your dish. For $2 extra, you also have the privilege of swapping chicken for 4-5 pieces of shrimp. Green curry was okay but not balanced, way too much sugar and salt. Eating more than a sip at a time did not sit well. There are no other curry options like red, panang, massaman. Great decor and ambiance, very cute interior. Seats and tables were cozy but small. I have fond memories of regularly ordering great local Thai takeout at reasonable cost in my university days. Unfortunately for McGill students, this won't be it for them.

This place is really exceptional! I had an amazing time dining here the other day, truly a 5 star experience! The restaurant is super cozy and you get real Thai vibes upon entering. The interior is super cool and modern, yet also reminiscent of restaurants in Thailand. We arrived just before 6 on a Saturday night and we're seated immediately. The servers explained that we had to order at the counter and they'd bring the food to our table one it's ready. All the people working there were super kind and sweet! I ordered the Thai Hainan chicken and my party ordered some noodle soups. The Hainan chicken was awesome. The rice was fragrant and flavorful, chicken was silky and the soup was delicious. I particularly loved the spicy sauce that made a perfect sweet, spicy compliment to the chicken and rice. This was a great dish! The seafood noodle soup was also excellent. Filled with large shrimp and generous amounts of other fillings, the broth was flavorful, a bit sweet, tangy, and savory. I'd definitely recommend this. We also ordered some spring rolls and a papaya salad for the table which were enjoyed by everyone. One person in my party told a server that her soup was very spicy and she was so sweet, she brought her a Thai iced tea to help with the spice. This was such a thoughtful touch, we were blown away by the attentiveness of the service. Also, upon hearing it was one of our birthdays also brought us the tapioca coconut dessert with a little candle in it. Amazing service here. Really top notch! Overall, this place is awesome. Amazing food, kind service, prices are super reasonable. If I lived in Montreal, this would be a regular spot for me! I will be coming back upon my next trip!

The food was good! A lil expensive for what it was and the portions in my opinion but that's ok I'm on vacation. It's a self serve counter and they were kind. The inside was a little small but trendy

Super chic Thai restaurant spot in Montreal;) halfway self-service, we scan the menu then go order food at the cashier. They serve us at the table with friendly vibe and all style and decoration is Northern Thailand style. Honestly, my personal opinion the menu and advertised looks like they get an authentic lists but the taste is not quite actually like food in Thailand. Less spicy even I order Thai spicy, all noodles soup we get the soup quite watery, the way they make Rad Na noodles is weird, I mean the taste is not terrible but the way they make food is still like when foreigner makes Thai food Overall this place is pretty busy and I'm glad , my friends and I go early so we got the table right away. Food taste good and service is friendly.

I saw this restaurant on tiktok and i really wanted to try it. So my bestie and I went the following weekend we tried their soup and drinks. I tried the hibiscus drink and it was bomb. My soup was also good! We also ordered spring rolls where my bff and I shared together. It was a cozy restaurant. We looked on the menu then we ordered on the counter then not long after they serve us our delicious food!

Mae Sri is a small neighborhood Thai restaurant in Milton Park just several blocks from downtown Montreal. Here's what's to love about it: 1) Food: It's among the best food we've had in the city. It's a hybrid of fast-casual and a sit-down restaurant. They seat you when you enter, but you order at the front when you're ready. They have a wide variety of options from all the usual Thai suspects (green curry, pad Thai, papaya salad, etc) and a few more unique items. I ordered the veggie green curry and the coconut sauce was perfect as were the noodles. My wife ordered a delicious pad Thai and papaya salad. 2) Service: Compared to other restaurants in the city, the service is faster and more friendly. They also have a booster seat for kids. 3) Space: It's beautiful with tables and wood stools. There's window seating as well. 4) Wifi: It's free and strong. The password as of August 2019 is "maesrithai." One thing to note: 1) The Thai iced tea was not my favorite. It came out in a small silver bowl with too much ice and WAY too sweet. I almost didn't finish it. Overall, if you want good Thai food, go to Mae Sri!

Food was delicious here!!! We tried their noodles, curry, boat noodle soup, appetizers, they all tasted wonderful and according to my friend, it's not common in Montréal to have delicious Asian food! They opened not long ago but has already been busy because we saw people still coming in as late as 10pm. The service was great and friendly. The food came out pretty quickly too. The dining room had stool chairs so it's not the most comfortable seating but it's OK. The air circulation could be better. We hanged our coats on the rack and came out smelling like grease haha. Good French pâtisseries and restaurants might be everywhere in Montréal, but it isn't easy to find an authentic and delicious Thai restaurant. It's wonderful to see such a restaurant in the city.

Didn't expect to find Thai food this great in Montreal! We purposely made a stop here due to the raving reviews, and Mae Sri definitely impressed. The concept is fast casual - you line up, and they don't take your order until there are available seats. After paying, you're then directed to an empty table to sit and eat. We ordered a papaya salad to share; I then got the Kuai Tiao Tom Yum, my sister the Thai Hainan steamed chicken, my Dad the Pad Kra Pao, and my Mom the Crispy Pork Belly. I sampled all, and they were all so delicious! Papaya salad This appetizer was a pretty solid and generous portion - and quite spicy too! The spice added a pleasant kick to the raw papaya, with the lime balancing things out with a tangy sourness. Thai Hainan steamed chicken For those who love the original Hainanese steamed chicken, you must try this out! My sister loves her Hainanese chicken, and we were blown away by this dish. The chicken was so silky smooth and flavourful! The rice was also delicious, having absorbed all the chicken oil / essence. Pad Kra Pao I only had a small bite of this, but it didn't taste vastly different from those from other places. By this, I mean it met expectations and was quite good nevertheless. Crispy Pork Belly This was an interesting dish, and very delicious! The pork belly highly resembles the ones from Chinese cuisine, but are fried to be a great crisp and offer an amazing bite! Kuai Tiao Tom Yum This dish was the least exceptional, though the tom yum broth was still quite flavourful. It was the ultimate comfort meal, however. The rice noodles readily absorbed the broth, and offered a taste of home with each bite. I particularly enjoyed the many shrimps and the soft-boiled egg, though the meatballs were mediocre and not my favourite. Overall, the meal was amazing. The service was also quite friendly; the staff were all smiles and super accommodating. Would highly recommend!

    Covid-19 takeout!

We consulted the covid-19 yelp takeout list and decided to try Mae Sri. I had previously tried their sister restaurant Pamika and had been wanting to try Mae Sri ever since. Takeout experience was great. It's easy to order on their website, you a select a pick up time or delivery (Uber and skip the dishes). When I went to pick up my order was ready, they handed me my bag and that was it. Food was delicious and thankfully we ordered extra to have leftovers (delicious leftovers btw!). Fried chicken salad and the papaya salad were my favorite. I loved the marinades and the crunch of the salads. The green curry was also delicious and just the right level of spice. Baa Mee Haeng Moo Dang was also really good. It's essentially noodles, dumplings and what seemed like beets? It also comes in a soup form which is like to try next time. We also ordered the pad Thai, which was good but nothing special. Their other dishes are much more interesting and flavorful. Keep supporting your local businesses like Mae Sri, if you can!

Move over Thai Express, hello Mae Sri! Are you looking to satisfy your mid-morning munchies while catching up with friends over over brunch or leisurely dinner without the complications of a lengthy sit down experience? Then you should take a look at this wonderful lunch counter who specializes in noodle soup bowls for mouth watering selection of healthy, tasty and quickly delivered dishes - there's surely something to tickle your fancies! Admittedly, the menu has been adapted to the local taste, but it doesn't take anything away from the fact that everything is homemade, recipes are authentic, not all are spicy, you chose what you want at the counter and they bring it to you and it's fast! Last weekend, I had the pleasure of satisfying my Thai food cravings over Brunch with a longtime childhood buddy and news friends... and oh did we fill our bellies with wonderful and tasty dishes. Items marked with a star (*) are must haves! Lab Kai Thod: Fried Chicken Salad* Po Pia Tod: Fried Spring Rolls Set Tum Tad: Papaya Salad Special* Kuai Tiao Neua Tun: Thai Braised Beef Soup* Kuai Tiao Kai Tun Ma Rah: Bitter Gourd Soup Kuai Tiao Ruea Ayuthaya: Boat Noodle Soup Yen Ta Fo: Seafood Soup* Ba Mee Moo Dang: Ba Mee Moo Soup* ... and some Thai Iced Tea with condensed milk. In speaking with owners, Pamika and Pascal, I was informed that another Mae Sri will open in the Plateau area on Mont-Royal street and possibly in Europe too! One more thing, if you are looking for a different type of dining experience, beautifully decorated space and access to a more elaborate menu, I invite you to try their other Thai restaurant called Pamika. P.S. Best time to get fast service is at 1pm on weekends or early evening around 5:30.

I've tried Pamika Brasserie Thai before, and I had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was great, and the restaurant's decor was gorgeous. So, when I found out that the same chef, Pamika Sukla, was behind Mae Sri, I was super excited. Mae Sri, compared to Pamika, is more of a fast-serving "street food" style experience. You order from the counter and pay in advance, and then your food is brought to your table. The decor is simple and practical, yet also culturally inspired. There is great natural light (for the pictures!!), and their location is super convenient if you are a McGill student (like me ). We started off our meal with a Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee with condensed milk. Both drinks were extremely good and came in really cute bowls. I highly recommend the Thai iced coffee with condensed milk!! For the appetizers, we tried the papaya salad, the fried chicken salad and the Mae Sri fried rolls. The papaya salad is one of their most popular dishes, and for a reason. It is full of flavor and completely different from anything I've ever tried before. The rolls were also delicious, and are fried fresh upon ordering!! For our main meals, we tried the Mae Sri Pad Thai, the Baa Mee Moo, the Seafood Rad Na, the Green Curry and the Stir Fry with Thai Holy Basil. The green curry, like the one I tried at Pamika, was delicious. It also contained a lot of meat for the serving size, so we were very satisfied!! The Stir Fry with Thai Holy Basil was my favorite dish. It was really spicy, but so so good. It's packed with a lot of flavor and the portion size is really big. My sister, who I went with, was obsessed with the Pad Thai, for good reason too!! They also have to-go dessert packages: mango pudding or tapioca. The mango pudding was addictive!! I would buy half a dozen next time I go to bring them home with me Overall, really good experience. Definitely recommend for a casual lunch or dinner experience. This location is especially convenient for McGill students, so I'm so happy that I found out about it!!

Working in Montreal for the week and it's dinner time! I did my usual Yelp'ing and landed on Pamika…read moreThai! Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the street in downtown is this gem. It's got a small footprint on the outside, but inside is a different story! It's so beautiful and intimate in here. The floors and the ceilings are darker colors giving a more intimate vibe. The decor is AMAZING and transports you to an entirely different country. The vibes were very intimate, romantic and definitely a place you want to be. Service: Glenn was my bartender as I sat at the bar and he was awesome. He was funny, witty and made sure I had the best time possible. I also would like to shout out Benjamin as well. He's the director of the restaurant and also made sure I had a good time. Food/Drinks: I started off with the Le Vieux Cajou, which is Buffalo Trace whiskey infused with cashews, spicy coriander syrup then a few dashes of both Angostura and chocolate bitter. This drink sounds so out there, but it was so smooth, oaky, a bit nutty, mildly sweet, very tasty, robust, woody. I really liked it. I saw so many things on the menu that I wanted to try that I couldn't make up my mind so I opted for the tasting menu! Here's how it went! Out first was the Fried papaya salad which consists of deep-fried green papaya and carrots, fried shrimp, fresh chilies, tomatoes, long beans and peanuts. This was very tasty with that good spicy sauce on top. I loved the sweetness with the salt and the heaviness of the fried batter. Absolutely delicious. Never had anything like it before. My only complaint is that the shrimp didn't pull all the way out of their shells like I'm used to. Lol. Next up was the Khao Soi which is a dish comprised of egg noodles, chicken drumsticks, a quail egg, pickled choy, limes, coriander, red onions and khao soy sauce. This dish was a bit spicy, with flavors just all over the place in a great way. LOVED the rich curry flavor, super aromatic. Lastly was the Set Tum Thai which is That BBQ pork shoulder served with sticky rice and a papaya salad. It was SUPER flavorful pork and an amazing spicy sauce. Rice was nice and sticky to calm the flavors down. Well-balanced. Value: It's more upscale and "modern" Thai cusine so you have to pay for it. Lol. All prices are in $CAD. My first drink was $14.00. The tasting menu was $85.00. Absolutely worth it. In conclusion, I loved this place, what it represented and how everything was executed. I highly encourage you to check this place out! Thank you for reading.

The servers seemed busy but it took a while for every step of the way so I think they could use a bit more help. The other thing that was a bit unfortunant was the amount of fruit flies that were around. One or two isnt an issue but we were having to swipe away one pretty consistantly. That being said, the food itself was pretty decent overall. Ill go over the so-so stuff first. We were trying to get the vegiterian papaya salad but apparently there is fish sauce in it that cant be removed so I am not sure why they label it as vegiterian optional. (Thats a bit of a pet peeve of mine since people probably dont even ask if it is labeled as vegiterian). The phad thai was decent with strechy noodles and fried tofu which is something we look for but the peanuts were all clumpped together as if they had been stored for a while. Not nessasarily a bad thing but califlour was also one of the vegtables which is an interesting choice. On the good end, the bak egg roles were crisp and had good flavores especially when adding the sauce. They gave us the chicken one on accident at first but figured out their mistake before we had any. The drink was also very refreshing. The egg wash was smooth and sweet which complimented the tart and fruity drink. The atmosphere itself was interesting. The long marbel X shaped table that centered the room was something I hadnt seen anywhere else. It seemed a bit akward at first but the lights and bar made it work more. The lamps seemed like a nice touch that added depth and a warm lighting to the room. I always like when lights are hung together at a different hights to give that depth. Overall probably not one I would go back to.

It had a welcoming feel and a great cooking smell upon entry. I was seated promptly at a table near the front windows. The water had a metallic taste but was better with a squeeze of lime. After some debate and a few questions to my server Luig, I decided upon the vegan Pad Thai. While waiting for my meal I noticed a group being seated an explained the menu. Soon after my meal arrived well presented and served with thicker than average chopsticks which were easier to use than some. Interestingly, they eat pad thai with a fork in Thailand, so that was a bit of a faux pas in my opinion. The portion was reasonable, but not large by any stretch. The plate contained al dente broccoli and cauliflower, rectangle shaped fried tofu chunks, crushed peanuts, bean sprouts, green onions and semi-wide noodles with good chew. Notably the dish was not too spicy which seems to be what proper Pad Thai should be. Also notable was the reasonable (for these crazy times) $14 menu price for my sit down meal. Nice to see there are Thai restaurants that give options for more authenticity than the quick serve ones.

I would say that the best was the Chicken Pad Thai and the salad then the vegetable curry and then the Beef Basil.
