But the surf was all walls all day so i didn't put the board in the water. Its cold water has to be worth it. And right next door is Jake's dining. We went there for an early dinner.

I love that the park is raised higher up and some walkways built so it made it accessible to everyone. I sat down on a bench to enjoy the ocean views and was able to share my bench with a family and one person was in a wheelchair. I liked the thoughtfulness of this park. Everyone was just enjoying the beautiful weather, some having a picnic, others sunbathing, some reading. There were also plenty of people on the beach but not crowded. Lots of surfers and just everybody getting their dose of the best medicine in the world: sunshine, nature and water!! Many flowers already in bloom, so saw fields of purples and yellows and it made my heart sing! Also lots of birds here, little ones and big ones too. The gulls are very beautiful and totally not afraid of humans. Parking I could see could be a disaster here but I did find easy free 2 hour parking on the street. There are also lots and metered parking available too. I didnt get in the water today but Im preparing and when it gets just a tad bit warmer, I am definitely headed into the ocean! I loved coming here today and you probably find me here a lot moving forward!

We…read morehave many happy memories of walking here with the daughters when they were little, playing with them at the playground up top, swinging on the swings down low, playing frisbee on the grass. Today we walked a whole loop (my daughter, her college friend, and I to get some exercise before going out to brunch. We admired the view from the Osuna Overlook, walked past workers weeding and trimming the new garden area between the upper and lower parks up top with river rock bordered paths. Looks super nice! My daughter commented that they ought to let local youth paint the rocks--that'd be a cool community event! We proceeded down the paved street that passes by the Scout House, crossed over by the pollinator garden where a kind person pointed out the bat house they placed there (I learned bats are good pollinators and that they need to be protected from raccoons!) Onward to the butterfly garden where I saw a monarch butterfly! We continued to the duck pond at the lowest part of the park where there are picnic areas to be reserved for birthday parties and picnics. We saw a pair of mallard ducks and a solo heron. Spring has sprung! Everything is blooming and the wild creatures are atwitter. Truly a marvelous community park. They even host an annual half marathon here. My brother-in-law and I ran it together in 2012 and it was challenging! Perhaps the biggest challenge being the walk uphill after the race to get to the beer garden lol. I think we ended up not going there and just walking home. Anyway, if you're in the area, check it out! There are several different hiking trails and lots of flora and fauna to admire.

It's rare to find a park that feels this expansive yet so welcoming and well cared for. What made our visit especially memorable was Ranger Alejandro. He took the time to introduce himself to our group during a park day with our kids and dogs, offered to lead a ranger-guided doodle-and-toddler hike, and even shared his contact information. That level of kindness and community care says so much. This park is a beautiful example of our tax dollars at work, and it makes me incredibly proud to call this city home. We absolutely can't wait to go back.

There's a play structure for little ones & a separate one for big kids. Love that! They even have a small sand area with cool little gadgets for the kids to stay busy with. There is a huge grass area to play games, sports, or just run free. I saw lots of people walking around getting their steps in. If you walk deeper into the park, there's a small basketball court & some bars to do pull ups or exercises on. My kids loved climbing on this & then we went back to the structures. Plenty of tables & benches for parents to sit. We even had a picnic together on one of the tables. Park seems pretty clean. My only complaint is I couldn't find a bathroom!! Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't see a bathroom anywhere on sight. Luckily the park is 2 blocks away from some stores, so make sure to have a potty break before coming here. It's a beautiful park in a nice neighborhood.

The park is very well maintained and I liked that it has a walkway that finds it way around the perimeter of the park. The grass is well kept, the playground equipment is in good working order, and the exercise station are great additions. There plenty of picnic tables scattered about and strategically placed in clusters near shaded trees. There are a couple of drinking fountains, hot coal disposal containers, and trash cans. Nice park.
