Seagrove Park on Coast Bl is a wonderful small park with rolling knolls of grass, some bench seating and pathways with spectacular ocean views. This is the park you can to post a meal from a couple of beachfront restaurant closeby: Jake's and Poseidon. Some limited meter and free street parking or park across the metered lot from Jake's. And the parking enforcement crew are quick to ticket, so stay alert. This park is separated from the beach by the railroad track. After the recent 5.2 earthquake that shook the San Diego area, geologists temporarily closed this park due to concerns of ground/soil stabilization. This is one of the areas subject to erosion due to natural, habitat and environmental factors. Currently the park is open to the public and is vital to the community. The municipal council should make decisions and plans to ensure safety because the ocean views and seascapes are spectacular at this loved mini park...Seagrove Park. Parking can be a bit tricky and gone are the free street parking Sundays, but if you can snag a spot, it's well with the visit. There is a really small playground suitable for 5-12 year olds. It can get sandy and with dropped snacks or trash because it's so high trafficked. I did feel like I had to tag close behind my toddlers because the play structure was not as friendly for 2-3 year olds with large drops. The main thing is the great beach setting and the railroad tracks right there, which served as entertainment for the toddlers read more

Amazing park. They keep up with maintenance very well. From cutting trees, bushes, and the grass to putting down new wood chips/mulch and watering the grass. And taking full trash bags away and putting new ones in. I see them do this every Friday early in the morning. The park always looks green and vibrant. Clean and beautiful. It's great to walk your dog around here, on leash of course. You'll have a few outliers who don't leash their dog though so be wary of that. There's trees for shade and also benches along the path. You can look out over the tracks to see the ocean. It's very peaceful. If you walk a little further down you'll see a playground for kids. Overall, this is a great place for people to come to. We found parking on the street that is good for two hours! Just make sure you make it back before then because the parking officers mark your tire and hand out tickets. We saw a few cars get ticketed. We had beautiful weather over the weekend and had a picnic in the afternoon with our pup. The park overlooks the ocean and there is always a nice breeze that blows through. The trees give some shade but many people opt to sunbathe in the open because it was such a nice day. We appreciate that everyone is respectful - the park is clean, people clean up after themselves, and everyone looks to be having a great time. You can walk alongside the trail down to Powerhouse Park and the Main Beach. We chose to stay at this park since it is a less populated area and quieter compared to latter. read more

Seagrove Park is in Del Mar right on 15th street on the ocean. Plenty of grass and picnic spaces to enjoy the ocean breeze. It's also right next door to Powerhouse Park which has evening concerts in the summer. It gets packed but it's worth it. read more

This is such a clean and beautiful park that overlooks the ocean. There are a good number of large trees where you can have a nice picnic under the shade. It is located close to many great restaurants within walking distance, so it's perfect for a nice stroll before or after a meal. Accessibility: a beautiful park with paved sidewalks that travel all throughout the park, and have a close up overlook of the ocean. There are also tons of wooden benches available to sit on, and shady as well as sunny spots. Experience: this park is absolutely beautiful! Wednesday afternoon about 2pm we stopped to sit in the sun, the park was mostly ours. Aside from a couple of locals walking their dogs, some tourist couples with their toddlers and some surfer dudes passing by to surf down the hill at the beach, the hour spent at the park was relaxing with with sun and sound of the surf. read more

In the last couple of months, we visited seagrove park for catch up picnics with friends - and it has not disappoint. Views for days, tons of grassy space, nice walkways and benches, BYOF friendly [ and pick up after yourself of course ] - parking can be a hit or miss... come ready to pay and do set those phone alarms reminders. depending on when you go, if going around midday - it can get warm, there is a little bit of shade - and the park tends to be less busy earlier/midday rather than in the afternoon, when there are lots and lots of families and kids around - also the occasional train noise, which is actually not bad. great place to picnic, sunset and just have a nice outdoor conversation w/ friends, we even saw a falcon... I've made it a point to try and come down to Del Mar more often in the last few months. When I was a kid, I used to come down here all the time, with a father that lived in the area, his friends with places near the beach, and a love for food even back then that has driven me to come back and find old stomping grounds and eateries. I remember going to work with my father, just up the street from this park at the Del Mar Plaza, eating 'Del Martian' sandwiches at the deli next door, and sneaking down tot he beach on occasion to play near the surf. It's a cute, little park with fantastic views of the water, plenty of grass to toss a ball around or have a picnic, and a healthy amount of greenery surrounding it all. But, the main bit of interest for me, or more importantly, my son, was the fenced playground that looks down on the surf. Clean, well-maintained, and with equipment that is in good shape for its age, it is a great place for kids to play. While it isn't the biggest, it is enough for a good 15-20 kids to run around. There's a swing set, three of those wobble horses, a good-sized play set, and a soft ground that is surrounded by a sturdy fence that keeps children safe from falling to the beach below, a good distance away from traffic, and away from the nearby train tracks. Speaking of those tracks, there's a plaque to read as you watch the Coaster or Amtrak roll by, giving kids something to marvel at while jumping excitedly at the horns and lights of those trains. I know my son loved and waved at both that went by us during our stay in the park. So, small, but very enjoyable with a great view and a clean place to play, it's easy to want to come back to this park. I know in the multiple visits to Del Mar I plan in the future, we'll likely come back here again and again. read more

Well First I was thinking of another park to go to and I seem to always check Yelp and this park was almost a perfect 5 stars !! So I thought to myself why not go and give it a try !! And off I went to this beautiful park !! As I drove up there are parking spaces for you to park but it gets filled up pretty quickly and I drove around but I was lucky once again and there was a spot for me to park !! There are meters for you to park also but it is 3 Dollars an hour for that !! Where I parked it was free 2 hours of parking and those spaces fill up quickly !! Now as I look around I could see beautiful Waters and Sandy Beach with Waves hitting the white sand !! There are Lots of green grass also !! As you walk around you will notice there is a Train Track also and plus there is a short Trail for you to walk also !! This Park is a must see and do for anyone loving the outdoors and also anyone who loves beaches !! It is really cool and Beautiful Park !! Perfect for Families and Kids or who ever loves to exercise !! Just a couple steps down is the beautiful beach !! I say put this on your bucket list of must dos !! Overall Satisfaction: Fun Factor : 4 out of 5 Lots of areas for you to do things and the beach is amazing !! Cleanliness: 3 out of 5 stars but this is well kept Park and it is nice to see how it is kept up and lots to do here Parking: 3 out of 5 stars fills up quick but get here early and you can park in the free 2 hours Parking !! It's such a nice park.. A lot of people that goes to this park are mostly locals which makes this place more pleasant than Torrey Pines. Yes I said it! Tourists are really terrible most of time. We stumbled across this beautiful park after having lunch in Del Mar. The views are stunning from this little neighborhood park. There is lots of grass for the kids to run and play, picnic tables for a nice lunch, and some benches to relax and look out at those amazing views. This park, located above a really wonderful spot of beach, is the perfect place to take a leisurely walk or let the kids play at the nearby playground. Although the parking is a bit challenging here, this wonderful piece of paradise is worth the drive or walk to get here. I can imagine that the sunsets from here are definitely worth the wait. read more

We're pretty limited on safe activities we can participate in with everything going on so we've been grateful for this park over the past few months. We have a 9-month old it doesn't take much to amaze him. Between the beautiful green grass, ocean sounds, and amazing sunsets here, this is excellent entertainment for the right price. After grabbing a bite to eat, we walked down a small hill and came across this cute little park. This isn't a huge park, but has a playground for the kids and several benches placed throughout for people to just sit and enjoy. Parking is not the best in this area, so you'll need to drive around in search of free parking or pay at the closest lot. This park overlooks the beach/ocean. Beautiful views. Fresh ocean breeze. Makes a great place to watch the sunset. Also, the park is set right above the train tracks, so don't be too alarmed when one comes zooming by. Leashed dogs are allowed at this park. If you're one of those dog walkers, please clean up after your pets... And for those of you who are not, be careful as not everyone is considerate enough to do so. I love this park. Its relatively small, but I love the small town community feel you get when you are here on a nice sunny San Diego afternoon. Sand can be annoying. Here I can just lay on a patch of nice cool grass and look out over the ocean at the surfers and swimmers. Anytime I am in Del Mar to get a bite to eat I will take an extra 20 minutes to walk down and lounge at the park. Things to know before you go: If you cant find street parking, there are meters under Inn L'Auberge (enter from 15th Street). They are usually 50 cents per hour, and there is a change machine nearby. read more

This was a fabulous scenic park we saw during our time in Del Mar. It was not that crowded but people would walk by and sit down to enjoy the magnificent views. :) The AMTRAK train passes right by the bottom of this park (right over the cliff), so be careful! I freaked out when I heard the train, didn't know it would go by so close. Views on a sunny day were out of this world. :) So happy we got to spend some time here to relax and sit at the benches. You can walk right over to Del Mar Beach as well, or take a stroll down Orange Ave to visit shops and local eateries. Dogs allowed. Would have easily been 5 Stars but my Achilles heel was aggravated when I tried to park at this lovely, scenic Park in Del Mar. The parking enforcement in the city Of Del Mar is top notch, unfortunately-which means you can count on getting a ticket, if your time in the meter runs out. Nevertheless-a picnic or wedding on the lush green grass lawn-surrounded by fragrant pine trees and the blue Pacific Ocean over yonder beyond the Cliffs is a treat! I was reminded of San Carlos Beach in Monterrey-right by the Aquarium- a lovely hilltop oasis of greenery over-looking pure ocean beauty. The playground at Seagrove cannot rival the wonderful Dennis the Menace playground in Monterrey-which is probably the best kid's hang-out bar none other than Chuckie Cheese-anywhere, but it is equally in as awesome a location. I attended a picnic at Seagrove and was struck by how clean and well-maintained the Park is. Hardly any dog poop; plenty of trash cans, Beautifully pruned pine trees that overlap and form an almost canopy of pine needles. I was admiring one pine tree that had keeled over but looked to be bonsai-trimmed into a tree sculpture-it was so Del Mar uber-cool! The 2 miles of Del Mar's sandy beaches stretches out before and in front of you as you gaze in admiration at the ocean's immense beauty. Love the multiple areas of park benches and particularly the benches put in some kind of semi-circular pattern among boulders and rocks just above the cliff's edge. To me Del Mar is reminiscent of Malibu-in that it's chi-chi image is well justified for being a rustic beach town, but a step above most other beach towns. The Parks seem cleaner; the beach-a lit bit more upscale; the nearby Starbuck's outdoor area-a posh caffeine retreat. I hadn't been up to the area to hang since I was a student at UCSD and I realize how much I missed it. . Not as snobby as La Jolla or as pristine as La Jolla Shores but still up in the top beach and park tier as far as I'm concerned. When the trains go by, it's such a treat! If not for the abysmal lack of free parking, I would say this is prima facie the best overall park in San Diego! read more

This park is located in a prime location right off of 15th in Del Mar and a good place to allow the kids to toss the ball around, run and be kids. We will often come down here, grab a pizza from Del Mar Pizza and enjoy the sunset with an occasional view of dolphins. It is also a great place to sit back and people watch and there are many interesting people passing through. There are two downsides to this park. One is the fact that the parking here can be difficult and many times you will find weddings occurring in the park which makes parking more difficult. The second annoyance is the fact that it overlooks the train tracks and the noise can be a nuisance. Once you can overlook these items, it is a wonderful park! read more

This is a lovely little park that I checked out after an amazing lunch in the area. It was a short walk from the restaurant, but I was rewarded with a great view of the water, beach, railroad tracks, and lots of people surfing. It's a pretty small park but there is a path you can walk along on top of the bluff. I didn't see where you could get to the beach, but it was overcast so I wasn't really interested in going to the beach that day. It was super peaceful and calming to be by the water and there are benches all around the park to sit and meditate or be thoughtful (or Instagram beautiful photos of the area to your friends back at home). I really enjoyed the beautiful foliage along the pathways. The park was immaculate and the grass looked like perfect turf. I saw a girl reading on a blanket and a few couples walking their dogs around the area. I would definitely recommend seeking out this place to get some great views (even when it was a little hazy and overcast) and just relax for a minute. read more

This is a super cool park! The playground is best for younger kids but there is also a large grass area for older ones to run around before heading to the actual beach area. I like that the park mainly overlooks the beach so you can still get the picturesque views without having to get sandy. Parking is decent but could be a real nightmare on the busy summer days. It's also close to shopping and restaurants, so it's a great addition to your visit to Del Mar! read more

Can't beat the view, beach access and general location of this park! Right off of 15th st in del mar you will find this little jewel. This park has a small but complete playground with a view that takes your breath away. Best part? The train rolls through quite often and the appearance of a Choo Choo is a huge treat for the little ones. There is also benches & picnic tables in the immediate vicinity, small grassy area with trees and more picnic tables, a huge grassy area for playing, a bathroom just across the grass, SuCH yummy places to eat very close by (Sbicca!, Stratford, Prepkitchen) and hmm did i mention the clean and gorgeous del mar sandy beaches right in front of you? Heaven. Amazeballs: As a local I have been able to enjoy this park through all the years. Playing in the grass, eating lunch at the tables, tanning on the sand, and now bringing my baby girl to runamuck at the playground while I watch my hubby surf from the top of the slide :) Bummer: Playground itself can get crowded and at unexpected times since the weather is always good here. The waster was very nice and if you head all the way down to the end, you are at the part of the beach that allows dogs. This park is a beautiful stretch of a grass-covered cliff complete with one of the finest views around. Overlooking the Pacific blue, this park is most often used by soon-to-be married couples to turn into married couples. L'Auberge Spa and Resort hosts all of their out-door ceremonies at this site. The park also has a great children's play ground that is always filled with happy kids and some not-so-happy kids that have to wait too long to use the swings. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of parking and the fact that the city of Del Mar will not allow the Coaster to stop at the train station right across the street from the park. We would take the Coaster from our house in Carlsbad. That said, we do drive from Carlsbad to this park at least once a month. It is so beautiful and great for kids to run around. They have a jungle gym, with slides and swings. If you want a swing with a view, this is the park for you! There are hiking trails that start here and go all the way to the bridge to Torrey Pines. I suggest going at sunset (or after 5pm) and find parking for free or only pay for an hour and then it's free after that. read more
