    Palisades Park

Palisades Park is one of the best spots in San Diego and my favorite place in PB to catch a sunset. Bring a blanket to lay down in the grass or enjoy sitting on one of the benches with a breathtaking view of the entire area.

A slice of green grass heaven overlooking the pacific coast. I found this spot while attending a yoga class. Bring a blanket to create your perfect spot as there are limited benches. Add a little stroll on the shore and you will find restrooms northward. A residential area with free street parking.

Did Yoga on the beach here and it was so cute!! They have it every Saturday and Sunday at 10am and it looks right over the beach. Highly rec :)

My favorite place in San Diego! It's the perfect spot for a picnic, yoga, reading, or hanging out with friends. If you're riding your bike or going on a walk along the boardwalk this is the perfect end location. I love watching the surfers during sunset!

This is another nice, little park in a neighborhood along the Pacific Ocean that's easily accessible from the highway. Just outside downtown San Diego, on the way to LaJolla, it's worth a stop. Plenty of onstreet parking and beautiful scenery!

Ocean Beach is one of my least favorite places in San Diego -- the energy is overwhelming. But the nearby Palisades Park turns out to be among my favorites. Stepping upon the park, you find an expansive, grassy bluff where you can sit and enjoy the ocean views and sounds. You can also take the paved path down to the ocean, or choose any number of meandering dirt/sand trails down to the water. The trails are lovely -- full of beautiful vegetation. Meandering around the park is the Coast Walk, which is popular among bikers, joggers and folks walking. Great place to bring your pup for a stroll. Because of the views and the excellent grassy area, it is common to see people out doing their yoga and stretches. It's also a haven for picnics.

Eat pizza, drink wine, and drive to the beach and take in the ocean. 25 yrs of friendship.

SUNSETS AND HEART-TO-HEARTS ... and stinky bundles of seaweed with 100s of flies on it. I love sitting at the beach and having deep conversations. Something about the atmosphere seems open and peaceful at the same time. Didn't need to be in a bikini, still too cold for that, but it's nice to be the the still, then laugh out loud, then be serious. The ocean brings me clarity and calmness. The people you enjoy the view with brings comfort. when you just want to scream your lungs out This may be the place.

Palisades Park overlooks Tourmaline surf park and pacific beach a little green area and walking area. Good place to watch the surfers and the sunset.

My favorite place to read with a cuppa tea (:

My absolute favorite place in PB. I used to live down the street (spoiled) so I would have my ritual Saturday morning coffee & book here. Grassy cliffs with sweeping views of the Pacific in a secluded North PB neighborhood & plenty of street parking. Technically you can't have your dog on the boardwalk or beach during certain hrs, but this is a park so your pooch can enjoy! There isn't room for a huge party, but this is definitely a chill spot to relax/tan/read/do push-ups/picnic/whatever your heart desires. On weekends between 10-1130am there is a MASSIVE yoga class (led by the amazing Namasteve from Spirit Yoga!) so unless you want to join in, the small park will be a bit overcrowded!

Have family who lives right here on Law St. and it's a great place to stay. The views are spectacular, whether it is of the ocean, wildlife, surfers, sunsets, or various people passing through. Yoga on Sundays draws in hundreds of people, and there's even a local pot belly pig who is sometimes seen grazing around. Quick access to the beach and the PB boardwalk. Definitely a great place to stop by and relax.

We paid for parking right in front of the Spanish Art Village and paid $10 for 4 hours. Spanish Art Village was beautiful. If you buy something, it goes directly to the artist whose studio you're in. The artists were sitting quietly and would talk to you about their art pieces and tell you a little about themselves. Everything in there was so cool. I was especially intrigued by the artist in Studio 21, he had these incredible three part paintings he does by hand and I've never felt so much emotion before by an art piece. I really wish I had the money for them because I really would've taken them home with me ;( The botanical building was stunning, it wasn't as big as I thought it would be but definitely beautiful! We also ended up visiting the Timken Art museum and the PostSecrets and Cannibalism exhibits within the last 15 minutes of them being open. Wish we got there earlier so we didn't have to speed through them, but staff was still really nice and everything was so interesting to look at! We went to Panama 66 for a quick drink and bite afterward. We didn't even get to explore the rest of it because the entire park is so expansive, but we will definitely be coming back to visit the rest. It's definitely a must for tourists, but I just know I'd be here every day lying in the grass and reading if I lived here!

Our driver was nice enough to give us a short tour on the way, which was a nice touch. We ended up seeing the Botanical Building and lily pond area, and both were lovely and picturesque. I honestly felt like I was in Europe with the architecture of the buildings. Next, we made our way to the Spanish Village Art Center, and it felt like I had stepped into a movie set, very surreal and colorful. I would highly recommend Balboa Park for any first-time visitors to San Diego!

It's super accessible with ample parking, and I love that there are multiple entry points and routes you can take depending on how long of a walk you're in the mood for. This park truly has something for everyone. There's a splash pad, basketball courts, a great playground for kids, and even a giant chess game, which is such a fun and unique touch. It's also an amazing place to walk your dog--I bring mine here all the time, and he absolutely loves all the open grass and the variety of paths we can explore. One of my favorite features is the set of stairs that lead up toward the residential areas and the dog park. If you take them all the way up, you're rewarded with really pretty views at the top, which makes the little climb totally worth it. Lately, with temperatures 10 to 19° above "normal average" - or maybe it's just the new normal - it's hard to recall the last time we got to experience a cool day. But here, the way the gazebos, tables, and benches are set up reflects a pretty severe case of denial that this is Southern California, and not quite within walking distance from the beach. It WILL get hot whenever it damn pleases, with or without notice. It did so in February already, in case you missed it. We came a few times for the farmers market. Both days were unfortunately " 80°F" her weather report, which in reality feels like 92°F, and we had to scramble to find a little bit of shade, so that we could eat our street food without passing out from heat stroke. We huddled awkwardly on the curb under a small tree. Other people passing by with food in their hands looked at us with envy. NOT A SINGLE PERSON sat on the readily available benches with tables, because they were in the blazing sun, yet lacked any shade. Never mind an umbrella, not even holes to put one in!! Denial much?? It's really sad, because it's a beautiful place. It just DESPERATELY needs more shade for the visitors to feel comfortable without clinging to trees or the bathroom walls.
