La Colombe is a longstanding coffee provider and had a lot of early success in the growing coffee scene. It's been a long time since I've been back to try their coffee, and I will say that as industrialized as it's become, it's still solid. There's a lot better coffee scattered throughout NYC, but for as unanimous as they've become the coffee isn't bad at all. This particular location is attached to the whole foods and serves as a bit of cafe/watering hole for shoppers. There's a moderate amount of space to sit, no bathrooms (i don't think) and no wifi. The music was kind of loud but I think it just depends on the day you come; good place to maybe get some reading done or get a quick coffee on your way to your next adventure. As far as coffee rankings go, it's not a place I feel the need to return to but it's not bad by any means. They of course also sell a variety of their beans there.

Staff was super friendly and were pushing out drinks quickly. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and it was delightful. Hubs needed a spot to sit down and enjoy his Russ & Daughters bagel. This shop was spacious and had plenty of seating for him to eat and enjoy some coffee as well.

Very creamy and well priced coffee. Staff is friendly and efficient. Nice local spot.

Nice place that's conveniently on a corner in the LES. It was pretty empty on a Sunday afternoon, so there was plenty of seating available. Not as aesthetic as their other locations, but still nice and clean. Pumpkin Spice Draft (~$8) - pretty expensive for a cup of coffee, but I have to admit it is good. It's draft so it's ready immediately. It's smooth and creamy, but not too much of a pumpkin flavor. Pretty light on the coffee flavor though, so don't think it has too much caffeine.

Very good location, right next to the Whole Foods. Coffee is good, chai is quite sweet. Service was friendly and simple. Haven't tried their pastries as they did not look the freshest. Interior decor is way too simple and quite frankly lacks any design. But this cafe is spacious, and wasn't crowded at all on an early Saturday morning. Definitely a good spot for a very casual coffee drink.

My favorite coffee in all of Manhattan! Always consistent and always great! This new location opened on the corner on Houston and Chrystie and on normal days will be open from 7-7 daily. Very cool to have a La Colombe open so early in the morning! This location is their first actual roastery in Manhattan. They even have their own Bowery blend beans!!! How cool is that?! They are serving up their tasty pastries and have a great sitting area if you have time to chill. If you like coffee or espresso...give this place a shot! It's truly my fav and what I brew at home!!

La Colombe always delivers the best fast service for a drink or pastry. The drinks never disappoint and had me visiting everyday. The quality of the espresso shines through each beverage, and you can't beat their draft lattes!

This location is connected to the Whole Foods next door - we popped in during the afternoon after walking around the city all day. Clean menu, without paralysis from having too many options. Staff was friendly as our big group ordered. I can see myself coming by again!

Coffee was good but not too special. Spacious place to sit and chat but not the most clean or comfortable. I'd say it's an easy place to stop for a while!

Classic la colombe coffee. It's nothing special but it's decent and reliable. The best thing about this location is lots of seating.

I got the market salad with grilled chicken which was very filling and packed with flavor. The grilled chicken was an add on so cost a little bit more than $25 but still an amazing deal. 10/10 recommend!

Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

After a weekend of rich, indulgent meals, we were looking for something a little more…read morestraightforward and comforting. We also wanted to try a classic pastrami on rye--but without committing to the long lines at Katz's Delicatessen. Sarge's ended up being the perfect alternative, just a quick five-minute walk from our hotel. We arrived around 5:00 pm on a Sunday and were seated right away, which already felt like a win. The meal started with coleslaw and both a half sour and full sour pickle--such a classic deli touch, and a great way to kick things off. I ordered the half sandwich with matzah ball soup, and the portion sizes were no joke. The soup alone could have been a full meal: a huge bowl with an equally massive matzah ball. The broth was warm and soothing, and the matzah ball was incredibly light with a perfect texture. The half pastrami on rye was just as impressive. Even "half" was stacked high with flavorful, tender pastrami. Adding a bit of mustard from the table brought everything together--it was simple, classic, and exactly what I was hoping for. Not only was it one of the more reasonably priced meals of the trip, but it was also genuinely satisfying. If you're looking for a no-fuss, traditional deli experience without the wait, Sarge's is a great option.

Service was so bad she deserved no tip whatsoever. On top of that, the food was overpriced and nowhere near worth the attitude. If you want REAL deli quality, good portions, and professional service, save yourself the frustration and go to Katz's instead. Night and day difference in both food and customer service.
