This was my first visit and it will definitely not be my last. Ashley's years of color expertise and careful listening skills left me with the most gorgeous hair I have had in years. The salon is small and private and looks out upon a beautiful courtyard with orchids and other lovely plants. Because it is a small salon there is no noise or chitter chatter going on in the background from other stylists or customers which led to a very calm and relaxing experience. It has body it has never had AND I now know I have CURLS! I'm 42! The whole back of my head, when it is cut correctly is covered in the cutest curls that just makes me happy. This salon is easily $100-$125 more expensive just because of the area it's in, keep that in mind. Overall, I would give my hair a 6 out of 10 and my experience a 4 out of 10. I got a partial "balayage" and hair cut, and at this point I know that some salons don't do actual hair painting, it's basically sporadically placed color, and while the color itself is fine, I don't anticipate this growing out as well as it has other times I've gotten my hair done - I can tell because I've been getting my hair done for 20+ years at this point so that's a little unfortunate. But aside from this, I would have appreciated if she let me know she was charging me for more color - other salons haven't done this as often, but they do let me know when they do. Even with full "balayage" at other places, I haven't always been charged for more color so this was unexpected. Even if she just gave me a heads up though, I would have appreciated it. The haircut was very basic and simple even though I asked for long layers. The blow dry was also "okay" - I ended up going home and adding more volume into it myself. Most importantly though - the stylist was not engaging at all. I'm a new customer, she didn't ask anything about me. Made no effort to put in conversation with me. It is so unlike any experience I've had at a hair salon. I even asked her questions to get the ball rolling and there was barely anything back. 3-4 hours in a salon chair is a long time for such lack of conversation, it's very disappointing. Like I said - my experience wasn't "bad" or "horrible" but I am not going back and I would not recommend the salon.

When I arrived, I was the only customer there. It was strange, as Saturdays are usually busy for hair salons. I was warmly greeted and seated for my consultation with Ginger, an older lady/master colorist/stylist. We decided on a shoulder length cut with layers, and I trusted her to do a good job, as I had heard nothing but good things. She had her assistant shampoo me. The assistant was rough with the shampooing and conditioning, the water temperature varied between too hot and too cold (never asked me how it felt) and the whole time she was talking to Ginger about her schedule/life. She also had these bangle bracelets that were jingling very loudly during my lathering. Not a pleasant experience. The cut was alright, but Ginger had to go back and snip several pieces that she left behind at the end. The cut was not what I had asked for (I wanted a piecey lob that hit at the collarbone with bangs, and I got a shoulder length cut with minimal layers and no bangs), and I felt that she was too sick (with allergies-tissues everywhere!) to try. So sad, I wish I could get it fixed, as i'ts my birthday weekend. :(

I had been a returning client of Alchemist Hair Studio and previously saw another stylist there who…read moredid my blonde successfully for over a year and serviced my hair overall since April 2025, but she moved, so I booked with Khammy. During my consultation, I explained that I wanted to maintain the cohesive blonde I already had, bring the same neutral tone underneath, and bring the blonde closer to my root. At first, with my hair freshly blown out, I thought something looked a little off but assumed I was just adjusting to the blonde being higher. Once I got home, looked more closely, and later washed and styled it myself, I could see the actual result: patchy, non-cohesive color with warm and cool tones throughout that did not blend together. It honestly looked more like an at-home color job than a professional salon service. When I initially reached out to Khammy, I was upfront that I did not want her doing my hair again based on how it turned out compared with what we had discussed. I had previously told her I planned to return for a haircut since there had not been enough time to do both services that day, so I wanted to be transparent about why I would not be coming back. I also contacted the salon separately through Instagram asking whether another stylist could correct my color and provided clear photos. I did not initially ask for a refund because I respected the time spent and product used. I then went days without a response from Khammy, and when she did respond, she repeatedly said she needed time to "process" the situation. The salon's Instagram never responded at all. Instead, I was blocked from their Booksy booking platform while their social media account continued actively posting. I ultimately decided to have my hair corrected elsewhere at my own expense. That is when I requested a refund. Khammy then pushed for a FaceTime or in-person appointment despite the documentation I had already provided. I declined and said I wanted to keep communication in writing. After I declined the FaceTime, Khammy maintained that the color looked fine, attributed the result to the state of my hair, and then said the photos I provided were "heavily filtered" and at that point, all she saw was me trying to "get free service" out of her. The photos I provided were Live Photos of my actual hair. I found those accusations insulting and unnecessary. Her response only reinforced why I did not want her working on my hair again. The blonde I was asking for had been achieved successfully on my hair before. If she felt during our consultation that the condition of my hair, the time available, or her ability to achieve what I wanted would be an issue, I would have preferred that she decline the appointment. I genuinely tried to be reasonable throughout this process, but the dismissive communication, lack of professionalism, and accusations made an already disappointing service significantly worse. I have the full history of the communication, including where there was no response, and I'm attaching before (with the wine glass) and after of my hair so people can see the result for themselves.
