This humble little restaurant, walking distance from Hotel Corona! The food & service was as if you were at home with this family, great homemade food, with hospitality of old fashioned family values. And we saw Abuela & Abuelito- I think(?). Grandson welcoming, seating, serving & cleaning up. The food again was delicious and homemade. The restaurant is not very large, however very accommodating. They had boxing on when we went and they serve micheladas among beer & other drinks. Those complaining about it being overpriced, really how then should they earn to live on offering cheaper prices? We thought the prices were reasonable & maybe appropriate for being a full service restaurant & not a typical taco stand out on the side of the road. And if you find cheaper like this LA, highly doubt it's a full service restaurant unless it's a size of a closet like those deep in LA. I can't wait to come back and have their breakfast:) they have the typical soups like caldo de res and menudo!

Love this little spot in the corner. Food is amazing, service is attentive, and in a great area. I ordered chilaquiles enmolados (mole sauce), + egg + chicken + side order of Mexican rice. Drink: Horchata. Let meee tell you, grandma was definitely back there cooking. Tasted like home. This place knows authenticity. Flour tortillas and food, freshly made. Side note I tend to be disappointed with how some restaurants cook mex rice but as soon as I tried their chilaquiles I knew I'd hit jackpot. A new fav. Feel like this place deserves more credit.

Saw this place as we drove toward the downtown area when we arrived to Rosarito. I think it was the name that made me feel like we had to check it out, after all, abuelas usually cook bomb! So, the next day we had breakfast here and I'm glad I went with my instinct! I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados (green and red salsa) with carne asada (chopped up) and sunny side eggs. Comes with a side of refried beans and a potato patty. Oooooh weeee!!! ONLY con is I asked if their coffee was café de olla, was told it was, but it was NOT. No cinnamon flavor, nor was it sweetened. As a matter of fact, it tasted like watered down instant coffee.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Grandma actually cooked our food. Every member of the staff was very kind to us and patient with our next to no knowledge of Spanish. I can say with certainty this was THE best meal we had in Rosarito and I am so glad we stopped in. Every part of the meal from the chips and salsa to the main orders was absolutely delicious. I only wish we had saved room for dessert. Definitely a must-stop on my Mexican Food List now! Definitely stop in. You won't be disappointed!

It's a nice homey place. The food is authentic and the service is prompt. Our orders didn't blow us away at all. We've had better breakfast at home. But it was a nice little place. The coffee was the highlight of this trip. Café de la olla is coffee with a hint of cinnamon. The tortilla chips were stale. The salsa was good. Everything else was mediocre.

Super delicious. If you're looking for real Mexican cooking made by somebody's Abuelita in the back then you found it, it's right here.

Yummy food! A little higher priced in my opinion. $20 with tip. 2 breakfast, 2 coffee, 2 water. But delicious and clean. Great service.

Food is delicious! Order my chilaquiles rojos. Just don't order machaca or Carne Asada they have no flavor.

I always get the mushrooms with a side of tortillas and just make my own little mushroom burrito. Do it as an appetizer, you won't regret it. My only tip is that if you are in a large group to get separate bills and request it from the beginning. Every time we're in a group, it never comes out right with the split - everyone is charged more.

We went for Mother's Day and it was beyond the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Our server Blanco was fine and did his best, but the food was absolutely terrible. Dry meat, dry and flavorless chicken, thick chewy machaca, and a salmon that was supposed to be grilled came out drowning in grease. Even the dishes looked dirty. We spoke to the manager Oscar, hoping something would be done, but he was completely dismissive. Just the typical apology and nothing else. This place used to mean something to our family and we even had a close relationship with the owners, but ever since the previous manager passed away, this restaurant has turned into a tourist trap. The quality has completely fallen apart while the prices keep going up. Extremely expensive for mediocre food and poor management. There are so many better places to spend your money now. Sadly, El Nido is not what it used to be, and after this experience we will never return or recommend it to friends or visitors again
