The place is very pretty (watch out for the garage though, it gets super, super tight--I'd park on the street if I were you), especially the gardens (and if you eat outside, or close to the doors, be ready to have kids running by your table most of the day time, which doesn't make for a very relaxing time).
The staff has obvious ups and downs (I've been here a couple of times), so you should cross your fingers to get one who's in a good mood.
The food is decent, nothing spectacular, though the prices are not modest (then again, someone's gotta pay for all those koi). You should have a lot of time on your hands to come here, as the service can take a lot of time (unless you take their buffet).
I frankly would have given them 3 stars, except that it's twice now that I've ended up with a piece of metal in my food. The first time happened when I was eating at the restaurant (the waiter actually didn't believe me at first and had to check with the kitchen staff before he begrudgingly admitted to their having issues with their metallic washing scrungy thingy), and the second time with takeout (there's unfortunately a lack of Chinese restaurants in this neighborhood). So one star per occurrence. And that's just too many strike outs for me. I was lucky I only bit on it--definitely was not a pleasant experience--and didn't swallow it!
In any case, I won't be patronizing this place anymore, and will contend myself with the Thai places in the area, which are very tasty and certainly don't leave a metallic taste in my mouth! read more
