This was, by far, the prettiest meal I've eaten in months. Fresh flowers, fresh herbs and the striking colors of the food, make for a picture perfect meal. We ate outside on the covered patio -- beautiful, with the olive trees outside and a perfect outside temperature. All the tables are set with festive, colorful glasses and dining ware. We were immediately greeted by the hostess who seated us and explained the extensive menu. There are multiple menu options at differing price points and choices. My wife started with a fresh chilled pea velouté. I had the perfect egg on cream green peas. Simply beautiful and very tasty. For the main plat a Roasted saddle of lamb served pink, with a potato pancake, and fresh vegetables, was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. How the chef put together a mosaic of Red Candied Salmon, with Nori leaves and squid ink, with citrus and avocado mayonnaise was another work of art, in flavor, composition and taste. Dessert was a candied nut and honey with creme Anglaise and fresh candied strawberries with sorbet. Satisfying, beautiful and exceptional way to end the meal. The wine list is extensive featuring wines from the local Cote du Rhone area. To add to a memorable meal, we met the man at the next table and shared our thoughts on each course. Turns out he is from Switzerland and said for the last 14 years he has been coming back to La Charette Bleue at least once every year because it is the best food around. That is quite a complement. I wish I was him and could go back here again and again. read more
