Get the specialty of the house- the bouillabaisse. And the house rose. A table on the terrace and those items are all you need for happiness following morning at the amazing Arles market. Although the floating island is a nice conclusion too! Note: they are kind to children and speak sufficient English.

The food was fantastic!! Sat in a little alleyway area that had nice romantic vibes...though it was just me. I think it was my favorite meal during my 2 week visit up and down Provence, Coté D'zur, and Italian Riviera. I think it was the vibe, the staff, and the food that made it an overall amazing experience!!!

We had delicious dining event sampling the soup of the day made with fresh local veggies and the octopus salad. For entree we sampled the fish of the day and the lamb chops. All wonderfully prepared and so tasty. Of course u must add a bit of fleur de sel to the dishes if u like. Great meal - dessert look fab but we couldn't eat anymore.

This is another wonderful cozy getaway from the strong winds of Arles. Run by a family, we found that the place was packed even during the off season - so be sure to get a reservation in! My husband had the fish soup while I had the local bull stew - something neither of us would normally have back home but a must while in Provence! You can't go wrong when the food is made this well! We would definitely come back to eat here again if I'm town.

Loved this little jewel of a restaurant. A beautiful example of a simple French bistro. The menu isn't large but it has plenty to offer for everyone. We were seated upstairs in a cozy room. Service was very good and they were able to accommodate our very limited French. The menu as well has English so we could easily decipher it. Hubby started with the Fish soup. It comes with some toasts on the side that you first rub the garlic provided and then top with shredded Parmesan cheese and an aoli. Don't be surprised but this is more like a fish broth as it doesn't have large chunks of fish in it. Hubby loved it and he had fun building the the floating croutons. It was a bit on the briny side for my taste. I had the appetizer of the day - a cheese ravioli in a pesto cream sauce. It was really delicious but very rich. The portion was very large for something that rich. I couldn't resist though and ate every bite. For our mains, I had the lamb chops and hubby the fish of the day, a cod and octopus dish. He really enjoyed his fish and especially liked how light and simple the flavors were. The lamb chops were outstanding. They were cooked to perfection. There were two double rib chops, a square of scalloped potatoes, a ring of camponata, and a carrot puree and a celery puree on the plate. Everything was wonderful. the lamb benefited from a few grains of fleur de sel being added. For dessert we split the chocolate mousse. It was just as a chocolate mousse should be, chocolaty, sweet (but not too) and creamy. Our waitress steered us to a nice bottle of red wine. We found the price for both the wine and the meal to be reasonable. There are some deals for ordering multiple courses. We able to mix the two course price for one and the three course price for the other by splitting our dessert. Highly recommend.

Popped into Le Criquet to have dinner after a day of sightseeing in Arles. It was highly recommended on Trip Adviser. It's a charming little 2 story restaurant with great food and great service. There's both indoor and outdoor seating too. They begin dinner service at 7pm but if you arrive a bit early there's a great beer bar right across the street which serves some awesome Belgian beers. Odd thing about France, ~MOST~ restaurants only serve Heineken, which is complete piss water. You'll find that it's quite advantageous to order from the prix fix menus when in France. My meal at Le Criquet featured octopus salad, lamb shank and chocolate mousse. Everything was beautifully prepared and very nice. If I were to return to Arles I would make a point to return to Le Criquet too. A worthy place for any traveler to recharge.

    Menu of the day!

Charming restaurant with an AC dining room and a side shaded terrace. Fresh seafood and incredible home made fish soup. 3 services (entre, main and desert) is 33 Euros!

She seemed to be on a first name basis with whomever it was on the other end of the line. It was warm enough to sit outside, and we were given the last table on the patio out front. The starters were a mixed bag. I ordered the octopus salad, which was bland and uneventful. My wife ordered an incredibly tasty leek salad with sardines and hazelnuts, which she happily devoured. But the highlight was the mains. I ordered what was basically a New York strip cooked medium rare in a morel mushroom sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection - and on the rarer side - while the sauce was very subtle, but you could still get a bit of that earthy, mushroomy flavor. I'd been craving a dish like this for several days, and it totally hit the spot. My wife's dish may have been even better: cornish hen bathed in a creamy, herb-infused sauce with freshly sautéed shitake mushrooms. My god this was delicious. The hen was amazingly juicy and tender, and generous amounts of rosemary and flat-leaf parsley made this dish explosively flavorful. The potent shitakes were rich and earthy, and perfectly suited/melded with everything else. For dessert, I had this chocolate thing with nougat inside and a nice caramel sauce, while my wife had this thing that was a pile of whipped cream and broken pieces of meringue with raspberries, raspberry coulis, and red currants. I liked mine better, but the wife's was light and refreshing, which suited the summer-like weather. And before we were halfway through our meal, the place was full. We saw the hostess turn away at least a dozen people, so good call on the reservation.

We got inside and there were a few other people dining. At the entrance, they display their aged meats.... I personally think it's kind of weird to put decaying meat on display with fluorescent/mirrored lighting. The workers here don't speak English very well. Even when we were seated, the waiter guy was like "no English menu". Thank you, google translate for saving the day. We tried to order pizza, the guy points to where the pizza oven is... and says "no pizza today" like we were idiots for not noticing that the lights were off in the pizza oven gallery. I ended up getting steak with mashed potatoes. My dad got a salad. My mom got the tapas. The salad and tapas were pretty big. The steak was 3 pieces of pretty rare steak (I ordered medium) with felicitous mashed potatoes and raspberry sauce? Yeah, I've never had steak with raspberry sauce, but I like raspberries so what the heck. The service was pretty non existent. No one checked on us. We finished our bottle of still water and no one brought us another one. I'd think it was a French thing to have bad service like this, but we had lunch at a cafe (not even a restaurant) in the old part of town and had phenomenal service compared to this place.

We sat for the longest time before the waiter came to take our order, and when my husband ordered in French he made a face and told him to speak English. We asked for more water - that took 20 minutes. Other parties were seated 30 minutes after us and had their food before us. When our food did arrive is was consistently bad. Two items were OK - the two items that are hard to mess up: tagliatelle with butter and a ham & cheese sandwich. We ordered fish for one of our sons, and it was awful. My salad, chicken with artichoke, was cold and a horrible combination of flavors. My husband's coffee never came, but it was on the bill. Do yourself a favor - grab a sandwich or crepe and ice cream from a small take-out stand before stopping here.

I'm comfortable with paced French service. This was never paced - it was simply erratic and unprofessional. But the food was remarkable. Each dish combined way too many favors and did them to perfection. Each flavor came through yet none dominated. Serving sizes were large enough to allow one to enjoy the dish fully. Every dish was presented picture perfect, looking like a magazine cover. I've never seen seven courses so well presented. So it was a remarkable meal, one I really enjoyed, yet I have absolutely no desire to ever return.
