What can I say about a restaurant and its staff whose motto is "the customer is king"?
To start, as you approach the entrance at Casa de Leo, the door opens outward (not automatically), and then you see someone holding it, smiling and welcoming you with the word, "Bienvenidos"!
From this point, you know that you'll be treated as a VIP. As you approach your table, the chair seems to retract on its own. And then, it snuggles close to your bottom as you sit on it.
Your gastronomical fantasy begins with a small glass of bubbly and a seafood tostada - on the house, BYW.
I ordered a seasonal dish called Mediterranean Shrimp. As a full-time cook, I asked details about the preparation method. I was told it had butter and olive oil. Marcelo, the head waiter/manager, kindly stated the shrimp could be tailored to my taste, so I opted for olive oil.
It was excellent and the oversized shrimp were actually prawns. In one bite, the prawn was crunchy - this means it was super fresh. It was also sweet - a sure sign that I was enjoying wild prawns. It was all impressive!
I opted for a green salad which consisted of super fresh lettuces with olive oil and fresh lemon. Sadly, I had no room for dessert.
This restaurant features a variety of fish, seafood, meats (including Tomahawk) and a great wine list. Most of the wine comes from Valle de Guadalupe (a mini Napa Valley), Ensenada, Baja, Mexico.
Finally, besides the excellent food and service at Casa de Leo Restaurant in TIjuana, Baja California, Mexico, the staff remembered me (it was only my second time there). How do I know this? They asked how my culinary courses and art tours are going. Imagine that!
Javier, Marcelo and the entire staff are wonderful. Im definitely going back to Casa de Leo Restaurant TIjuana - and so should you! read more
