The line did move quickly. I came here today because they were having an import car show. I wasn't sure what to expect. I haven't been to a car show in a long time. The last really awesome show I went to was San Diego, and it was massive! This car show was much much smaller. But doesn't mean it was lacking. Most cars were Supra's, which are sexy, no question about it. Type R, couple BMW, Mustang, Volkswagen, even Lexus. Obvious these owners put a lot of love in their cars. The paint, the upgrades, the engines, the stereo system, and all the extra bells and whistles with interior lights, racing seats, and exhaust and rims. If you don't think cars have a personality, you wouldn't understand this car show. The line to get in was extremely long. But moved pretty quickly. I had my ticket on my phone in an email. But I also printed it out just incase. I checked in and got a wrist band. Once inside, you can roam around freely. They do have bathrooms inside and some food. I saw people walking around with popcorn and big warmed pretzels. Also you can buy drinks. And I think I saw liquor too. I wasn't sure where this center was, but if you're trying to picture where it is, it's across for Terry Blacks BBQ.

It is surprising large, aesthetically pleasing space. One of the first things that strikes you is the size breath and depth of square footage. Extremely high ceilings makes the space look even larger. The projection monitors were large and easy to see, which made you felt like there was no bad viewing vantage point. In addition, our conference received flat rate parking of $12, which was excellent. In so garages, you can easily pay $25 upwards. Also, we used their concessions for breakfast and lunch. Having concessions near our meeting hall was super convenient. Surprisingly, concession items were reasonably priced and tasted very good.

The Norris Conference Center is on Anderson Lane nestled next to the Walmart shopping center (somewhat hidden.) The reception was in the main ballroom with food served in a side room. The conference center appears to be ideal for corporate events, special occasions, and meetings. It is spacious with all the amenities you would expect at conference center, i.e., tables with linens, audio visuals, DJ section, spacious room, etc. The ballroom had a large screen projector, space for a DJ, raised stage and an audio-visual (AV) system. The food was a hit and miss. The chicken piccata was delicious. The vegetables and rice were a bit bland. The staff was very attentive, removing plates and utensils quickly. There were several times when the microphone was not working. I was not able to tell if the right AV folks were present or if this is a pervasive issue. Because the conference center is in a shopping center, there is ample free parking. I have been to Norris Conference many times over the years and find it to be a well-maintained facility.

There were lots of food vendors all around which was a nice but they're mostly unhealthy food (pizza, burgers, fries, nachos). The only downside was that the sound system was not that great. Drinks are overpriced as expected at a venue like this and food prices are also on the higher side, though not as bad as the drinks. Hoop Tea ($14.75): A lightly spiked iced tea but it was enough to hold us through the entire concert. We went to Chick-fil-A one time and Stubb's Bar-B-Q another. At Stubb's we split the ATX Burger ($16) and onion rings ($8) and both were pretty darn good. The burger came with crispy chips but the onion rings were the real winner.

The food options are surprisingly solid for a venue, and of course the champagne selection is amazing every time. Always a fun experience and definitely one of the best places in Austin to catch live music.

The convention center is located in a prime location that's accessible and walkable for all. Though the convention center tries its best to be easily navigational, some of the smaller room signs could be more noticeable. Would suggest putting on comfortable shoes at the Austin Convention Center, as it has two wings and three floors. In order to get to the other side, you'll have to walk all the way from point A to point B.

The garden itself is small (you'll likely spend an hour here, at most) but very pleasant to stroll around. The trees were bare when we visited but I can see it being even lovelier in spring/summer. Very reasonable admission fee ($8 per adult). Children 0-4 are free. Super friendly staff. The woman working the front desk was very kind to us and made our family feel so welcome (we brought our two small children). Small parking area but it wasn't crowded when we came (despite it being a weekend afternoon). If you're visiting Austin and you like classical and figurative sculptural work, make sure you add this spot to your itinerary.

This celebration of life ceremony was a deeply moving and beautifully planned tribute to her life well-lived. The ceremony took place in UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum. The grounds are serene and peaceful with art sculptures sprinkled throughout the garden. UMLAUF is strategically hidden behind Zilker Park in Austin, TX. The garden was a perfect place for my friend's celebration of life. She would have loved the tree canopy, small ponds, and the bronze and stone works in the garden. My friends passing caused me to think about life, death and the dash in between the two. The commentary today came from her younger brother, two friends and her aunt. Their glowing remarks intertwined with snippets of humor helped to soften the moment. One of the comments from her brother is that you need to keep in touch with family and friends, tell them you love them and do not miss those very important moments. Those thoughts resonated with me. Sometimes in this microwaveable society, we do not make time to be intentional and spend uninterrupted time with family and friends. I committed today to be more intentional from this day forward. When my mom and sister passed, I was selected by our family to do the eulogy, which is one the hardest things you can possibly do in life. How can you capture one's life in 15-20 minutes? What topics are most salient to discuss? Inevitably, my mind drifted to gratitude. I am so grateful for my family who loves me unconditionally. I am grateful to all my friends and especially those friends who have been riding with me for 25+ years. As soon as we got off we walked toward the entrance, but some weird guy was walking behind us with tatoos all over(he scared the eff out of us)so we started to walk faster. "Why you walking so fast?" He said. We ignored and continued. "Whats the rush?" So we finally got to a group of "Church people" (they were handing out flyers)really outside a club? (But thank god to them), we let the weirdo pass us! I was almost shaking, so when I got to the entrance I was lost, I showed the guy my ID and since im 20 he had to mark my hands, so he marked one, I was about to go in and hes like "Are you ok?" I replied "yes" but really no, (not with the experience I just had outside), so he marks my other hand, and in I go, I swear he thought I was druged or drunk, because of the way he was looking at me, but no I was just afraid of the unkown! So we get in, and I see all these girls with dresses showing everything(leave something to the imagination), most guys were dressed what I thought was really funny, pointy boots(i swear I keept triping on them). Do they take them off to drive? So they play all types of latin music. I get on the dance floor and its small, crowded(my poor toes), every guy is trying to get you to dance with them, even if you say no they wanna start a conversation no means NO, leave me the fuck alone, so we had to be moving from place to place to be in peace. Besides that I would say we had a good time. I saw no fights, but heard two girls got into a fight (those losers, I would say drama, drama, drama)! I would only say to put more security outside, becauase I saw a lot inside, but very little outside which made my first experience a little intimidating. At closing time I would say to be careful because there are a lot of drunks, and mini car accidents in the parking lot (thank god nothing happend to me). Just be careful with the weirdos, and dont trip on those boots! ;) Im definetly going again sometime, when im a little more BRAVE!
