We weren't disappointed. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival even though the place looked quite busy. After a short time, our waiter came over and we ordered old style Margaritas which were superb. They came with an orchid which still to this day I can't eat. We ordered our food and I had the Enchiladas Suizas. Flavorful and yummy with a mild taste. My hubby had the tacos which came out quite well. Service was definitely good. And overall, We had an excellent dinner. My only irritant was with the waitstaff breaks. They seemed to use a side exit foyer as their brake room. With loud enough laughter as to be annoying. My husband and I have been getting take out or dining in at least once a month for the past 8 years at this location. I don't know what has happened over the past 12 months, but their food has gone down hill. Their enchiladas, which used to be some of my favorite in Manchester, now contain an unbearable amount of chunky tomatoes and long string onions, and much less chicken. My whole order from Grubhub was bad. I ordered a taco, there was only about 1 tsp of beef in the taco, ordered a cheese quesadilla very little cheese in it and the cheese wasn't even melted. i LOVE la carreta! i come here 1-2 times a month with my family for dinner. their staff is so nice, they are quick with their service and barely ever forget to bring you your orders. the inside is super well decorated and the wall tiles are super pretty. i love their chips and salsa that they give for free they are so delicious. my usual order is a passion fruit jarrito and 2 ground beef enchiladas with a double order of refried beans (the 2 item 2 side meal) i highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!! read more

The food was so good! Got this delivered for the first time last night. I got the fajita quesadilla w/ shrimp and OMG! Fantastic. It was a cheesy quesadilla filled with all this good grilled veggies and shrimp, yum! It came with a giant helping of lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, rice, and tomato. We also got the shredded beef tacos and the steak burrito which I got a bite of and so good! The order came with a big bag of chips and a container of salsa. The salsa was good and flavorful, but could've done with some more heat. But, that didn't stop me from eating until I had a stomach ache. Had to send the grilled steak tacos back due to a plethora of grease sitting at the bottom of each flour tortilla. I've ordered this same dinner here for years and it's never been served this way. I gave my credit card to pay the bill however it came back an added charge of $16.50. When I asked about it he said the manager had him told him to add it on. What the hell happened to this place? My family and I had been customers for over 5 years. During that timeframe the service, food, and drink was always 4-5 stars! However in the last 12 months this place has slowly gotten worse and worse. In fact 2-weeks ago we literally walked out. We went in to request a seat and nobody was up front, there was like 20 people standing in the doorway complaining...the waiters and waitresses would walk by and nobody did a thing. Figured we'd try it. Got there at around 5pm on a Friday. They had a very good waiting area and system (you can monitor your wait time and place in line.) We only had to wait about 15 minutes which was good since it was busy. I ordered the steak carne asada. It was well done, tough to chew/eat, and it just tasted like a grill. There's no way this was marinated or treated with the usual spices. The 2 slices of beef included fat and had gristle. I was shocked. The meat was inedible. The tale of my life once favorite restaurant now one of my least. I've been frequenting the La Carreta restaurants for the past 15 years and I've always been happy with their food. Until COVID hit. Now everything I get at both Manchester locations is bland, chewy or overcooked. Shredded chicken is dry, steak is rubbery. The seasoning on their meats used to be spot on for actual Mexican food like Mexico City Mexican. But now it's a former husk of its self. La Carreta is now open inside the former Uno Chicago Grill on South Willow Street near the Mall of NH. This is the second former Uno's in this area I've dined at in the past two days, which has been transformed into a "Restaurante Mexicano." Plaza Azteca just opened up inside the former Uno Chicago Grill in nearby Methuen, MA. At the time of this review, no alcohol was served at this location pending the issuance of their liquor license, which should be by the end of the week according to a staff member. Oh, how I so miss eating at this location when it was an Uno's? It was very convenient for me to grab dinner before and after my workout at the nearby gym. As a member of the Uno Insider's Club, I was very bummed out when this Uno Chicago Grill closed its doors a year ago. I still enjoy Uno's deep dish pizza, but now at their Concord location on Fort Eddy Rd. I was pretty excited to see La Carreta moving into this space and I've been driving by the place each day. The inside of the restaurant was redone slightly with the same layout and seating arrangements as before when it was an Uno's including the center bar area with TVs minus the old signs. I did notice some new decorative floor tiles. The atmosphere still feels like an Uno's with the open face brick walls, lacking the festive and colorful atmosphere of the other La Carreta locations including Derry, Nashua, and Manchester (Hooksett Rd). It does feel less cramped than the other Manchester location, which is what I like! Anyways, I stopped at the new La Carreta for dinner after I got out of work late. The place was pretty quiet when I arrived here just before 8PM, mostly staff present here. I was seated immediately and my server was waiting on me within seconds bringing out a basket of crunchy chips and a glass bottle of medium salsa. I knew what I wanted and ordered the Fried Beef Chimichangas ($10.25) served with refried beans, which came out piping hot and tasted very good! The two rolled chimichangas were crunchy outside, stuffed with the shredded beef tips inside were very tender and moist, topped with a spicy red sauce. The side of refried beans were soft and topped with cheese, tasted just right, not too salty. For dessert, I had some Fried Ice Cream ($3.85) which was a big scoop of vanilla ice cream coated with corn flakes, topped with a big tower light whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and cherry on top. I was very full and barely finished the dessert. The service was very good and attentive. My server refilled my ice water and offered me more chips and salsa, which I declined to save room for dessert. Though the place lacks the very festive and colorful atmosphere of a typical Mexican restaurant, the food was very good here, a better experience than past visits to other La Carreta locations. When we got here the bartender informed us that it is his decision and he didn't want to watch it. He said people are eating and don't need to see a bunch of blood. Never going to go to La Carata Mexican restaurant again! They didn't have Sams Boston Lager like they usually do so I ordered a stone face IPA. Tall (32oz). Expect it to be a little more expensive. We recently moved here from California and were really missing good Mexican food. We also have trouble finding food that is spicy enough for our tastes. A friend suggested La Carreta in Manchester and we are glad he did. The house salsa is very tasty and they have a couple hotter versions that we tried as well. The medium roasted salsa is delicious and their version of "hot" salsa is seriously wicked hot! Hubby ordered a combo that came with a chicken enchilada, a wet steak burrito and a tostada. I had chilaquiles. All our food was really good and very reasonably priced. The service was great. Next time we will try the margaritas! I definitely recommend this place. read more

Decided to check out La Caretta on a whim and opted to share a couple items instead of ordering meals. Complementary chips and salsa kicked it off, followed by a chicken quesadilla, a shredded beef quesadilla, wings and beef tacos. The quesadillas were pretty good. They didn't skimp on meat, but that was all that came with it- no garnishments or sauces. The tacos were good as well- met the expectation. The wings were terrible and we let the manager know. As a chef- Kevin asked about the wings, how they were prepared, etc. The manager was very friendly and forthcoming- explaining the restaurant had recently changed the way the wings were prepared and, with Kevin and the manager both being chefs, discussed how to improve the wings. The service was very efficient- we were seated quickly, the server greeted us quickly and food came out in a timely manner. The server and manager both did a great job of handling the issue with the wings. We will definitely go back and look forward to trying the wings again. read more
