I really wanted to like this place. I came in after the lunch rush at about 1:15pm. I sat at the bar and the manager had a server make my drink and then I was given chips. I had to get up and walk around the bar to get napkins. I wasn't spoken to again for another 25 minutes when I was asked if I was ready to order. I told the server that I never even got a menu. He apologized and gave me a menu and I immediately ordered flautas from the lunch menu. About 15 minutes later I was given my food. I then had to get up and walk to the front to find a server to give my utensils. The server could tell that I was not happy and came and made me another drink and told me that the drinks were on the house and that they were short staffed. This action is the only reason why they aren't getting a one star review. The flautas were not great, the rice was absolutely terrible and had peas and carrots in it for some reason. I wanted to like this place since the ambiance was nice and the place looks great. I really hope that they get it together. read more

They really need some help here. The rice is good but other then that most items come out sloppy and or not fresh tasting . They don't answer the phones for to go orders anymore and when they do your order WILL be missing something or wrong every time. They must not train their staff bc typically the ppl who answer the phone if they ever do are not taking orders correctly and are not friendly at all. Googled places to eat in Amite and this restaurant popped up along with not much else. We initially called Boston's but there was an hour wait so we decided to stop here. (Honey doesn't like to wait.) the place was pretty full. We were scooped up and out in 45 mins. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was super attentive which made it a sunny rainy day. She took our drink order and brought out chips and dip. Brought our drinks and took our food order. Food was out in no time. We had a watermelon margarita, a strawberry mango margarita, steak and chicken fajitas and ribeye with chicken tortilla soup and enchiladas. The enchiladas were a bit funny tasting but everything else made it yum yum fiesta time. The watermelon margarita was really good and should be on the menu. I also asked for additional cilantro for my dip. There's a birthday sombrero complete with song for those celebrating birthdays. That is always fun. Thumbs up! read more

Absolutely terrible service, waitress was a ditz with no accountability nor the management. Poorly managed restaurant, came as a party of five, on a Thurs night about 6:15 for dinner. 3 entrees were served and we had to wait what seemed to be a long time for the other 2 entrees. The waitress did not come by to inform us when the other two entrees would arrive to our table. She said "they dropped your platter" but did not even offer a drink in between wait time as a courtesy. When the entrees arrived, the cheese on top was lumpy and half melted, obviously kitchen rushed it, chunks of cheese thrown on top to hide what was under neath? we wondered if they "dropped " this platter also. The first 3 entrees served were fine but the evening was badly managed by waitress and staff. We told the manager that it was wrong to be served half of the party and have to wait extra long for the others. The manager replied , "we are human" and did not offer to comp an entree or round of drinks or anything. A simple apology would of been professional but we did not even receive that. The large tubby man who told us he was the "owner" of the restaurant walked past us as we were leaving and did not properly say goodbye, WOW! Does the Mr Tubby, the owner only serve friends or potential girl friends? One guest in our party said the manager needs some personal development classes to manage la Carreta. read more

We LOVE La Carreta's! Every time we go, the food is great, and we get excellent service. If you go on Thursday nights during the warmer months, they usually have a band out on the patio. Taco salads, steaks, burrito wraps, chipotle shrimp, and their house margaritas on the rocks. So good!!!! read more

The server was terrible and then we got the bill and they charged us a gratuity for 4 people. We ask to speak with the manager. His name was Oscar he came to our table with the worst attitude ever! We asked when did they start charging a gratuity for 4 people he told us that the baby counts as a person! Ummm what??? They charged us 8 dollars in gratuity for some crappy service and maybe one round of refills!!!! It will be awhile before this place gets our business again.
