    Lamb gyro
    Haley L.

The best Gyro I've ever had. Ordered a lamb gyro with extra sauce and it did not disappoint. Very juice and flavorful. My grandmother ordered the chicken gyro and she loved hers as well. Highly recommend. I wish that we had this place in vegas. Can't wait to go back.

Its surprisingly near to find a cart that offers paella. There's not too many of them in town that I am aware of that has this offering. I decided to give it a try and ordered the chicken paella. I am super glad I did as the dish came out tasting wonderful. The chicken itself was most and had lots of great flavor and went really well with the dish. The person in the cart was very nice and friendly and gave me an extra plate and utensil so I could share it with the others.

Flavor overload! If you are wandering through cartlandia you may walk by La Camel without giving it second thought. The small menu may not have the same wow factor as the many other carts plastered with huge menus on the front. But what the menu lacks in length is made up ten fold in flavor. I tried the vegan lentil soup and the vegan paella and was delighted by both. The soup was hearty and had a rich flavor deep with spices that had clearly simmered for a long time. A great start to a meal that will warm you up if it is a chilly night. The star of the meal is the paella! It is clear that the proprietor of the cart is passionate about his craft as everything about the paella was great. There was a nice layer of rice that had a little crunch, the veggies were thick chopped and not over cooked, the seasoning was not overpowering the flavor of the veggies, and the dollop of what tasted like veganaise really added some richness to the very bright flavoured dish. The portion size was big enough to split if you are only after a light meal and it was a good value.

Kafta kebab gyro and eggplant feta gyro = $16
    Amanda M.

The food was delicious. After ordering, the food came out a few minutes later, but the flavor depth felt like it was cooking for hours. My son got the Kafta kebab gyro and told me it's a nice combination of spicy and savory. Also noted how the meat felt homemade and high quality. I ordered the eggplant feta gyro and it was equally delicious. Very filling, flavorful and loved the vinegar punch that made me sweat a bit. The pita is perfectly chewy and not too dense. You can tell the owner and chef takes pride in his cooking and representing morocan flavors. We will be back.

    So delicious!

Paella(rice dish) was on my list of foods to try. I'm so glad I walked past this cart and saw they have seafood paella! I've wanted to try paella at a few restaurants, but they don't come in single servings. So I am happy that Portland has a few foodcarts that makes delicious paellas! I really liked it, it was what I expect from a paella. It tasted as good at it looked. Fluffy flavorful rice! The flavors were new to me, and I liked it a lot. It was so delicious and satisfying.

I wanted flavor... and I GOT IT! Bonus for the variety in my seafood paella. Will be coming back to try the chicken paella and gyros.

Unbelievable great food and value! Defintely try the paella fishes, either the seafood r the chicken. Add the fresh hummus as an appetizer. There is agreat variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian and each dish will be perfectly seasoned. You can text orders to 503 778 0604.

    Chicken and couscous

I love working near the carts - There are so many great food options! Welcome to the pod, La Camel. I'm very happy you're here serving up delicious, comforting, looks relatively healthy Moroccan dishes! I started to feel a cold coming on today and I was in need of some comforting food. I was on my way to do some damage at 808 Grinds when I stopped to check out the options at La Camel. I went with the Chicken and Couscous ($8.75)... Delicious! I really did think about licking my foil container after. The chicken was baked and the couscous accompanied it perfectly. The little bits of cranberry gave me little bits of surprised sweetness. The broth was light and flavorful and honestly tasted like a home cooked meal. It was perfect! I will definitely be returning to work my way through this menu. The forbidden rice dish and paella caught my eye while I was waiting for my food and about gave me buyers remorse. Until next time!

*LOW SEAT CHAIR. DON'T WEAR SKIRT OR ANYTHING TIGHT* 4 stars…read morefor food but I don't think I want to do it again. The restaurant offers 5-course meal that includes soup, salad, b'stilla, a choice of main dish (we got lamb, chicken , fish) and dessert. Charge by person even kids. They have à la carte menu but we were not offered that on the day. Food is good. Super big portion. I doubt anyone will be able to finish it. You can easily eat 2-3 meals out of it. Chicken with lemon/olive is wonderful. Soft and easy to pull off the meat. Lamb is tender, love the carrots on the side. Fish is cooked beautifully, didn't like the sauce that much tho, a bit sweet for me. The bread, appetizer, the soup are all big portion and literally fill me up. I was trying my best not to eat much so I could have my entree. The seating really throw me off. It's low cushion chair. My outfit of that day was definitely not for that. I had such an issue eating the entire meal. And because i was crunched over, all the food was kinda stuck at my stomach. Decor is exotic. You feel you are in a different country. But again the seats I just can't.

What a fun experience. Moroccan food, unique atmosphere, a belly dancer…read more I loved the carved door upon entry. We were asked when we arrived if we had a Groupon. We did not. But it looks like there was a prefixed dinner deal on Groupon. I would not recommend this restaurant for people who would not be comfortable sitting in very low seats with very low tables. Most of the seating is backless Moroccan poufs (Americans may consider them footstools). There are no alternative options to sit more upright. It was really tough for my 76-year-old dad to be comfortable in his seat but we still had a blast. The server was extraordinary and very patient with us, not knowing anything. She guided us and we enjoyed the experience very much. Starting with a beautiful metal pot where she poured warm water over our hands to cleanse them, Moroccan beer and Moroccan wine, a cold eggplant salad, nice bread, and lentil soup to start, followed by a unique meat pastry. We ordered the chicken with preserved lemons and olives as well as marinated hare. Our dinner was followed with a dessert and lovely mint tea. The belly dancer was a nice surprise for us. I loved it, but would really make sure that you're comfortable sitting in extra low seating.

Tusk was 2nd on our schedule of PDX Dining and it was EXCEPTIONAL…read more The ambiance is casual and lovely - our waiter was really fantastic and friendly. We were there to try the PDX Dining set menu, but my friend wanted to add the flatbread with hummus and some olives. Both were so delicious - the bread came out piping hot. The falafel came out sitting in Tahini with a side of pickled onions. That was some of the best falafel I've had - beautifully crispy outside, and not greasy. Very flavorful - especially with the Zoug sauce that was set on the table. Then they brought out the crudité with green tahini...WOW. I'm not usually excited about crudité but this was really delicious and it was lovely to have it after the falafel. Fennel and radishes were probably my favorites but I loved the cauliflower and broccoli and the red peppers as well - which almost the whole thing. The entree came and it was harissa chicken on a skewer with a farro salad - all of it was so tasty. I got to try the mushroom skewer as well which was rich with flavor. The dessert was a semolina cake with a kumquat marmalade and coconut whipped cream. I managed to eat a few bites of it before I had to call it quits. We took quite a bit of food home because it was so much and we couldn't let any of it go to waste. I'm so impressed with Tusk.

Walking in after dark, Tusk had a warm, welcoming, luxe ambiance. We did the Portland Dining Month…read morespecial. It was $50 per person. First served was a simple plate of vegetables with dip. Fresh but pretty standard. Then came the falafel. Nice and crunchy on the outside, not super flavorful on the inside. It was pretty salty overall. I noticed they sprinkled them with salt, and it was a bit too much. Next up, the hummus and flatbread, probably the only thing I enjoyed this evening. The green dip served with the flatbread was delicious, the yellow one... not my favorite. The flatbread itself was good and tasted freshly made. For the entrée, if you will, it was underwhelming. A chicken skewer on a bed of rice, it was really flavorful but didn't quite hit the mark. I was expecting something more substantial after a simple plate of vegetables and a piece of bread. The sweet pickles really threw off the balance of the dish for me. I don't have a picture, but we were also served a dessert that we were pretty excited for, since dinner did not meet our expectations. It came out stale, old, and partially burnt. I honestly don't know why they served it to us. This was my first time trying Middle Eastern food, which is one of the reasons we chose to do the special. I assumed it would showcase some of their (Tusk's) popular dishes, something that would bring me back. I can't imagine it did. There was also a mandatory 20% service charge added to the bill, which stood out to me given the overall experience. I would love to give Middle Eastern food another go, but it will not be at Tusk.
