My girlfriend and I were driving through this town and decided to stop by this Mexican place because we love great authentic Mexican food. Honestly this place was just not good. Surprised there were so many people inside maybe they've never been exposed to actual good mexican food but damn this food was pretty bad. I got the Asada tacos that were extremely dry but whatever. My girlfriend got fucked over way worse though. She ordered a beef quesadilla and a chicken quesadilla and just look at the photo lol. They forgot the tomatoes, guac on the side, and the CHEESE on a QUESADILLA and there was almost no beef either. When we asked for all of that stuff they gave us queso instead of cheese and gave us tomato slices instead of tomatoes chopped into squares that are meant for quesadillas. They also didn't fry the quesadilla, it was just a wet folded tortilla. On top of that it just didn't taste that good. The food selection is extensive. Something for everyone. The food came out fast and on hot plates that kept the food hot until the last bite. Amazing flavors and generous portions make this a go to place for the locals and a go back to place for road warriors. Went there today for lunch. Wife had nachos and I had la cabana tacos with two unsweet teas. Salsa was quite spicy and the meet in my tacos was a little chewy. Tea was very flavorsome. People come from nearby larger towns to eat at this family friendly restaurant. Highly recommended. It does fill up pretty quickly on Friday & Saturday nights. Not sure if this LaCabana is connected with others in neighboring towns (and are much better), or order was mediocre. I ordered the #7 combo, enchilada and Chile relleno with rice and refried beans as sides. My husband ordered a chimichanga from the lunch menu which came with a side of beans. Although the waiter did not ask what type of enchilada I wanted (beef or chicken), I got beef (ok) but was rather bland. There didn't seem to be any seasoning or sauteed onions or green pepper in the meat. I found out where the green pepper went. Apparently they didn't know what a chili relleno was or how to cook it. There was a lump on my plate to the left of the enchilada covered with melted cheese. I surmised this was the chile relleno since the other items on the plate were easily identifiable. As I disected the chile relleno, I found only a mound of the same unflavored ground beef with a small square of green pepper on top (then covered by the melted cheese). Photo is shown. As a side note, also rather bland was the chimichanga. When the waiter came back to collect the dishes, I told him that I wasn't given a chile relleno. He mumbled something about tried to cook it but it didn't work. I would not recommend these particular dishes but maybe the orders on the table nearby (possibly fajitas?) were much better since the onions, green pepper, and seasonings smelled nice. read more

We finally tried this place after living in the area for 2+ years. So glad we did! Wish we had tried it sooner. Our food was very good. Our 7 year old loved his food also. The other locals must agree because they were pretty busy with barely a parking spot available. Don't forget to ask for their hot sauce. They'll bring it in an unsuspecting ketchup bottle but it's house-made and delicious!! Overall highly recommended! read more

Loved it! I had the poblano peppers, loaded with cheese and topped with Mole and cheese. Rice and beans were great, the chips and salsa were perfect- salsa just right with warm chips. A little out of the way for me, but certainly well worth the trip! read more

My parents retired to the small town of Washington several years ago. This is one of their favorite restaurants. The staff is very friendly, and whenever I visit, we make at least one trip there. This Christmas it was rainy, windy, and chilly, and my mom suggested a trip to La Cabana for a bowl of their chicken and avocado soup. Apparently, a local internist recommends it to his patients. The soup is amazing! Coming from a South Florida resort town, the price amazed me too. A large bowl of freshly prepared soup comes at a very, very reasonable price. read more

I've eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants, and I have to say that even as the only option in a small town, La Cabaña can keep up with some of the best Mexican places around. I never turn down a trip to La Cabaña, and every time I come home from college, I make sure my parents have takeout waiting for me when I arrive! The atmosphere is a little lacking (that building used to be a KFC), but they redid the interior a few years ago and it looks much better than it used to. The food is good and the service is fairly quick, and prices are reasonable. Their margaritas aren't the best, but they do have a pretty good selection of beers. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out--it's one of the better casual dining options around, and it's cheaper than the places on the square. read more
