I've been going here for a few years. Food is always good, service is always good. They did some upgrades last year and added windows and have been trying to make it more modern looking... Low and behold, like every place...Covid hit and changed everything. And now that restaurants can open with outdoor seating....they've completely taken advantage of it and have done a phenomenal job of putting together a patio area in the back. They put a new fence, hung lights, rocks and plants, the dirt gravel even looks clean. Tables were spread out nicely. They did a great job. Glad we decided to go instead.of bringing it home. This place was definitely an eye opener. I honestly had NO idea this place was here. Granted I don't always drive past this area all the time, but I am pretty familiar. This is hidden in a corner slot of a plaza. Not quite sure how big the inside is but we had an amazing dining experience out in the front. I had the chicken enchiladas and beef quesadilla dinner plate which I have to add, was very very tasty. Mucho Gusto!! And we washed it all down with Cadillacs. Yes. Plural. With an "S". The owner was really friendly and always kept coming back to see how we were doing. I have to thank my friend for bringing us here. I know for a fact I will be making a return to this place for sure and I hope that it helps someone reading this to come on over as well!!! Then kept bringing food out to others and gave her food to other people and then kept saying oh someone took it, someone took it. You can see why La Cabaña has been open decades. Classic California style Mexican food. Hearty, flavorful, fresh food with great service. They even carry Voodoo Ranger IPA on draft which is my favorite IPA. Loved it. Will be back. read more

We visited on father's day. We had a party of 7. There were 2 other large groups & maybe 2 tables of 2-3 people. We ordered drinks & appetizers. It was taking very long. one appetizer finally came out we had been there 45min maybe even an hour. Still waiting for our food, the owner walks up to one of our guest at the table & tells him he needs to lower his voice. Shocked & confused because we weren't talking any louder than other parties. There are large groups & music playing. We asked did someone complain? did we offend anyone? He said no, I'm just saying you're talking to loud. This made us uncomfortable & said we were going to leave. We paid for all the drinks & appetizers that we received. We were given a receipt, in which we signed & acknowledged that amount. (we NEVER received our food order) The next day my bank account shows 2 charges. The one we signed for & another large amount which we never received or signed giving authorization to pay that amount. The owner was rude, disrespectful & also a crook! It should never take that long to receive our order. And if he wants the restaurant to be quiet he should lower the music, but also shouldn't pick & choose what tables can talk & not talk. Only adding one star because it makes you. I'd give the 1 star to the waiter. read more

This is 1 of our go-to birthday spots. My family and I love this place. The food is really good and the service is good. I'll admit, they're a bit slow bringing out more chips and salsa but they are always very nice and kind. Every time my husband orders something here he hates it but it might be just him. All restaurants are under Pandemic guide lines. And it really sucks that we can not eat inside. HOWEVER. We ordered take-out twice. And both times we were not disappointed. The Chicken Soup was very flavorable and tasty. Chicken in a tomato broth along with vegetables. On the following day we ordered Albondigas ( aka meat ball soup). Very , very tasty and again in a tomato broth and veggies. I believe in supporting our local (non big chain) stores. And we will be ordering from this lovely restaurant from now on. Really beautiful location don't let the door fool you. Once you walk in, you can breathe in the authenticity of this restaurant. The menu is extensive and very affordable for what they are offering. Great a la carte options in case you need to fill up a tad bit more than you thought you would. Yes...family friendly. Also, they have a nice little bar cutout as well. What else is left? This was our first time back eating inside the restaurant since covid last year! We r thankful that they were able to survive the crisis. The new owners have done an outstanding job at remodeling the place. We had two margaritas before we ate. The owner was the bartender. He did a phenomenal job at making the margaritas. I came here for brunch with my family and I got the Morisqueta, it was delicious! I would've personally liked it a bit spicier, but nothing that took away from its deliciousness. Two weeks later and we saw them on doordash, we ordered: menudo, la cabaña special plate, enchiladas rancheras and caldo de pollo. I am new to the area, so didn't know where to order. Boy, did I get it right. Luscious, slightly tangy mole and LOTS of it for dipping chips. Chicken was falling off the bone. I do not like Spanish rice, I ate it, it was great and added the right fluffiness to the chicken and beans when in a tortilla. The tortillas had comal-burnt edges. Sandwiched between an Adult Bookstore and a Christian Fellowship Hall, the thought of dining here would have never crossed my mind. The location is definitely a bit odd, but don't let the ghetto surroundings discourage you from experiencing the deliciousness at this family owned hole in the wall. We started off sharing a plate of super carne asada nachos in addition to the free chips & salsa. Big plus for crunchy tortilla chips holding it down buried underneath the mass of guac, sour cream, jalapenos, carne, and cheese. I hate soggy nachos, so La Cabana did not disappoint. Though, after seeing how ginormous our entrees were, we could have done without the nachos. Not sure what it's called in Spanish, but my dish was a mound of shrimp, crab meat, avocado, & pepper jack cheese accompanied by a side of rice, beans, & flour tortillas. The seafood combo was delightful, but a tad on the heavy side. I barely even touched the beans and rice. Next time, I'll probably go for something smaller like a taco or enchilada. Wasn't too big a fan of the horchata either. I was practically sipping on grains of cinnamon the entire time. After using the restaurant.com certificate, all 4 of us each paid about $12-15, which was a steal! The portions are huge, so don't hesitate to share. I'll probably come back to try the other savory dishes on the menu, but it's definitely not a local hot spot for me. I would've given 4 stars, except the service was extremely slow and we were starving like no other. PS: I felt a bit claustrophobic after realizing they had no windows. This is the first post I've ever done but I was so disappointed I felt I had to worn others. Worst Mexican food I've ever had. No flavor, small portions and extremely high prices. Taco Bell is far better. I had a crunchy taco which the shell was old had a little meat and lettuce. The enchilada was a small flour shell with sauce. Rice and beans were cold. For $16.50 ridiculous.
