My sister and I sat inside this cute little place and were helped by one of the friendliest guys who didn't mind explaining the menu to us or making suggestions on what to eat. We started with the spinach buñuelos and ordered the chicken with a gravy sauce as well as a pumpkin and cheese empanada. The buñuelos were honestly one of the best things I have ever eaten. They were very lightly fried but the spinach mix was amazing and so unique that it's hard to describe it. They didn't taste like gross spinach, but they were delicious and soft. The empanada was also a hit. Even though the menu says "pumpkin and cheese," the empanada was more pumpkin than cheese which was nice because I really love pumpkin. The bread wasn't too doughy and it was a good size to split between me and my sister. The chicken dish, which we ordered as our main meal, was amazing. Now, Spain is full of jamón so finding chicken anywhere is a daunting task, and finding chicken that's actually good is even more difficult. However, the chicken at Casa Federica was amazing. The gravy-like sauce on top of it was perfect and not too salty but just savory enough to satisfy. The combination of friendly service, ambiance and food gives this place five stars. It was a welcome reprieve from the standard Spanish fare and an experience I enjoyed a lot.

That would have been better (the wine was good, but it was hot, and we could have used something lighter.) But I won't take points for that. All told, the Knife was perfect! 5 smokey grilled stars!

I was at the place at 1:15 when they open on Sunday. I walked in and there was 2 guys sitting at the bar. I saw several workers in back at a table. One came to me saying they don't open until 1:30, He was a young guy with British accent. I told him the web site said 1:15 and he said well I could come back later but it is fully booked for lunch and I said it looks fully booked with no one in the place. I ask him if he wanted my business and he gave me a stupid look. I ended up going to Taberna El Sur witch was fantastic. I hope the owner fires the asshole with the British accent because no restaurant needs workers pushing customers off. What a shame. read more

Cómo buena argentina que soy, la carne me pierde. Soy clienta de La Cabaña desde que lo descubrí en Madrid, hace 15 años. La carne que se come aquí es excelente, y ni en Argentina la encuentras así muchas veces. Lo mejor se lo traen aquí. Además de eso también soy fanática del vino tinto, y siempre tengo qwue volver para probar unos nuevo porque tienen una bodega inmensa!! Además el local es muy bonito. Lo renovaron en el 2013 y si ya me gustaba antes, ahora es que me encanta. Mantiene la tradición pero se han modernizado un montón. Larga vida a La Cabaña, por muchos años más! read more

The subterranean walls kept the room at the perfect dining temperature, even though it was 33º (92ºF) outside. I started with the "Una de Veneno" that is, the Jamón Ibérico. It was the first time this trip I had it, and it absolutely blew me away. Although I ate this meal alone, I nonetheless ate the whole appetizer... Wisest decision? Maybe not, but it was so good I couldn't stop. Each piece of jamón was an explosion of flavor and left me wanting to eat more and more. If the rest of the meal was like this, I wouldn't leave! Next up was the "Secreto de Bellota 100% Ibérico a la Parrilla de Carbón". Definitely a mouthful, but hopefully, with a name like that, it would be good. This was the plate that floored me. The pork was perfect, with enough salt to complement the fat and bring out more flavor. The pimientos de padrón (the green Spanish peppers) were seasoned perfectly as well, and the potatoes were just as good. Perfectly cooked and with incredible flavor. At this point, the meal was already the best meal I had in a VERY long time. Not that I haven't eaten good food in a while. No, this good was just that good. I decided to end it off with a dessert, the "Torrija de Toffe con Helado de Vainilla". In comparison to the other food, it wasn't as good, in my opinion. But I will also admit that, thanks to growing up in the USA, my sweet tooth is naturally much more elevated than most Europeans. Even so, it was very, very tasty. My one complaint about the restaurant would be the service. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. But I will admit that it was not on par with the level of the food. A little slow at times, especially when I wanted to pay. Overall, definitely my favorite meal I've had in Spain and in Europe. Maybe even in my life. I'm giving it 4 stars because one of the starters didn't quite live up to the rest of the meal, but the atmosphere, service, and quality of the steak more than made up for it.
