It was late and I was hungry and tired of German food so I decided to try this place out. Wow truly excellent meal. I had three starters and a glass of Bordeaux , the house wine. A balsamic salad with warm goat cheese on toast.....excellent! Escargot, you either like it or not. For those that do these were great not just a garlic butter that overpowers everything but with interesting spices. And a homemade duck pate, also very tasty. Maybe I've been away too long but I would almost come back to Berlin just to eat there again. Service great, small so not too loud. A classic and superb brasserie. Just go!

We opted for the entrecote with frites and foil-baked halibut, preceded by pork terrine.

No idea if he owned the place at one time or if this is just a love letter. ??? Service was fine, but not extremely attentive. Thankfully the place is small and we could flag them down if we needed something. Wines by the glass are limited but the one red was good. Honestly, however, feel like at least three or four options should be available. Food was a bit mixed. They do a nice table-side presentation for tartare and chateaubriand. We had a special foie gras ravoli that was loaded with black truffle, but was way too al dente and ultimately a disappointment. French Onion Soup was stellar. Tartare was good and accompanied by crispy onions. Steak was good, but chef really over-zealous with the salt. Portions were generous. Overall, it's good, but in our opinion, too pricey for return. Glad we tried it, but would look elsewhere in a future visit to Berlin.

Note that there is nothing very fancy here as they don't do haute cuisine just good French country fare. Atmosphere is a little staid, but not unpleasant. There is a good and not too overpriced wine list which includes some pretty decent claret. Service is calm, polite and quite good. You should head here with business partners or friends to sample probably one of the better French country restaurants in Berlin.

Filled with vegetables but bacon was definitely present. The sardine app was also nice, combined fried and marinated though I thought the pickled vegetables that came with it were too vinegary. If you like beef tartar you'll love their plat- delicious, sizable patty with a raw egg yoke on top, the way it should be. Comes with potatoes lyonnaise, roasted wedges with caramelized onions: addictive, crunchy and rich. The pork confit main was just a good - again quite rich, with a blood sausage, apple tart and plum mouse - an amazing sweet-savory combination. The lemon meringue ice cream is nice, creamy and smooth - I would have liked it a bit tangier but still good. The espresso was excellent as were the lemon madeleines- delicate and scrumptious. The wines are all French and if you don't know French wine it's hard to choose. The waitress recommended a rose that was half frizante, which was ok but wouldn't order it again. The service was good. Prices are more for a special occasion, though definitely worth it.

The goose was so overcooked it was like goose jerky. The venison goulash was decent, but by no means exceptional. Service: rather mechanical and simply checking boxes instead of actually paying attention to customers. For example, we told her waiter we were ready to order. But instead of taking our order, he said wait I must first bring you bread. He disappeared, brought us bread, and then allowed us to order. Ambience: classy ands classic. I asked the waiter goose or wiener and before I finished the word, he said the goose for sure. I ordered the goose. The plate was lovely to look at. The goose was overcooked and so dry that it was so tough to cut it and eat, thank goodness for the sauce or it would have been inedible. The cabbage was the best part of the dish. The kale was overcooked mush. The puff of dough was interesting texture to the topping. Worse goose I have ever eaten. Bathroom: downstairs. Cool staircase. Clean until you went into the stall. The stall had toilet paper all over the floor. Restaurant: very clean
