The pho was a standout only because of the sheer amount of meat they gave us. We got the three beef pho (so brisket, steak, AND meatballs). I was happy to patronize a restaurant with such longtime art associations. We arrived somewhat early for dinner because we'd skipped lunch and were hungry but also thought it might be best to visit before the regular evening dining rush arrived. Unfortunately, upon opening the door and greeting the host, we were told that the kitchen was about to close at 5:00 and they could not seat us. This was a Wednesday night. They are open from noon until 1 AM. There were open tables everywhere inside and outside with perhaps a couple of seated guests. I tried to clarify that we were wanting to eat, and while I can speak some German, it's not 100%, and I thought perhaps I was understanding the opposite - that the kitchen OPENED at 5:00. But no, he was telling me that we couldn't get a meal, that the kitchen was closing. It was very apparent that we were not wanted there as patrons, so we left and had a fabulous multi-course sushi dinner next door. As we left, I could see they had patrons seated at the outside tables, and there were other guests entering and exiting. They were open, they just weren't open for us. I will NEVER go back there and don't recommend other people patronize them if this is their attitude to potential clientele.
