We stopped in here for authentic Mexican food whenever we are passing through the area. It's not much to look at, but the food is so good. I feel like I'm down south of the border. I usually get the shrimp fajitas. Fast, flavorful, and delicious. read more

Found this place on Yelp and glad I did! It's a restaurant, store and they sell boots. We had tacos and soup. So fresh and very attentive staff and the service was great. Real home cooking. I recommend this place to anyone in the area you will thank me! read more

Great food and great service. Food was excellent! Conviently located on route 60 in lake wales.

So Good! Brilliant idea today asking my husband to pick up the Beef Stew soup to go. It was delicious & exactly all we wanted and more! The service was quick too. Nice big pieces of meat to break down into the tacos and still have plenty in the soup. Super tender meat. The place is fine to eat inside and kept clean but enjoying this at home today was perfect. Will definitely be doing this more often! Price is great for the amount of food you get and the authentic taste. read more

Not much ambiance. Have been here several times. Order at a window in back of store. Find a seat and they'll bring you your food which is authentic Mexican with generous portions. Refried beans are phenomenal. Rice is average. Breakfast burrito was as big as your head and loaded. Flavors of sauces and sides are great. My only complaint was the enchilada chicken filling was very dry and stringy. My friend's marinated pork burrito was great. Overall I would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food. Just be prepared for the experience. read more

This was the most unusual but delightful place we ate en route to Palm Harbor from West Palm Beach. A mint green building with cars parked everywhere. Once inside, we thought it was just a grocery store and after walking through the aisles of food, we found the restaurant. Look through the typical Mexican menu, where we decided on carne asada burrito for hubby and pollo for me and one drink. Great Caesar's ghost! Each burrito could have fed four people easily! And delicious is an understatement! You pay at the main register in front, tell her what you had and pay for it there. Don't forget to leave a nice tip in the jar by the kitchen! read more

I am a Marine. Been to 14 countries and 24 states. Been around the world twice. LITERALLY. Was stationed in Southern California for many years. Trust me when I say this place is the best Mexican food this side of the Mississippi!!! Everything on the menu is AMAZING!!! Even what is not on the menu. I usually just walk up to the counter and say " surprise me " and they make me food that they make their families. Like I have sat down at their table. I have been coming here for YEARS and have never had a bad experience. FYI it is not your normal restaurant. You walk in and it's a convenience store. In the back is the kitchen. You order at the window and have a seat after you get your drink from the choices in the refrigerators all over the store. They bring you the food and when you are done you show them what you drank and pay cash at the kitchen or CC at the counter on your way out. Try the beef stew!! Take the beef out of the stew and shred it and put it back in. Use the tortillas rolled up to dip into the hot sauce and eat it at your leisure read more

Twenty-two four and five-star reviews without a single negative review for this tiny place! Yelpers love this privately-owned Mexican joint and I agree! Atmosphere- You enter by going through a store that focuses on Hispanic items. Walk on through and the very clean restaurant is in the back. Walk up to the window to place your order. While you are waiting, scan the huge number of coolers for something to drink. In addition to soft drinks, if you look carefully, there is a small selection of beer. Payment is the honor system and you won't receive a check. Just walk up to the cashier and tell them what you enjoyed. Food- The menu board above the order window does not display the full range of food available. Ask for a menu and all the usual Mexican items are available. Much has been said about the Asada Burritos, so I choose he steak version for a little over six bucks. Man, oh man was it good! One of the best I have ever had. The wonderful grill flavor hit me first and there was tons of steak! Much to my surprise and delight there were some nice big chunks of avocado included. It was very heavy with great ingredients and I was stuffed. If you are tired of the chains and want great casual and authentic Mexican, this is the place for you! read more

Food is ok. Guac is very sour and tacos are dripping wet. Friendly staff but not great food.

Location seemed clean, tables were wiped down & no bad smells. Ordered enchiladas & steak tacos. Took a little over 30 minutes for to go order. Tacos were good, needed some salsa, but still good. I ordered- leguna tacos, pork tamales, and meundo. Leguna tacos could a tad more seasoning but salsa verde made up for that. The pork tamales were good but it was first time I had salsa verde for pork. Nice touch. The disappointing item was the meundo. The style of the meundo was way my ex cook it no hominy. The tripe was unevenly cooked due to different sizes of cuts and thickness, so the bigger pieces were chewy. Needed more seasoning The service was good. read more

Great authentic Mexican food. We visited La Botana had great tacos and even bought a great hat.

Best hidden Mexican restaurant I've ever encountered. I've been to many Mexican border towns had authentic local cuisine. I've eaten Mexican food in about 22 states and this little hole in the wall is the best I've ever had. The chimichanga is second to none! The beef soup is to die for and the people are friendly courtiers and accommodating. Take it from a traveling fool like me this is defiantly a place you want to visit. read more

Food is alwaysss good, i definitely recommend! The wait can be slow sometimes but it's not too bad. The store has everything you need too!

Ok, so I had my doubts when I read all these 5 star reviews and then saw the outside of the restaurant. It looked like a sketchy gas station and I thought they maybe had friends provide reviews. Decided to give it a try... When you enter, it is a small bodega with everything from Mexican spices to cowboy boots and the best Mexican food I've had. Hands down. You order from the counter and they bring you made from scratch fresh tacos, burritos, and all sorts of items. Eat in or take it to go. Casual, but if you go here on a first date, and your date doesn't love it, time to get a new date. Reasonable prices are the icing on the cake. read more

[Location] 3/5 - On main road, a bit strange being inside a supermarket and you order at the restaurant and pay at the supermarket. [Decór] 2/5 - Truck stop style interior. Not the cleanest place I have been. Get in and get out. [Service] 2/5 - ...... [Quality] 3/5 - Considering that it was also a supermarket the quality of the ingredients could have been better. [Food] 3/5 - Tacos were good, hot sauce which was made fresh was good but spicy. Guacamole was ok. [Overall] 3/5 - It was ok for the location and the price. If you are hungry on a road trip and need a quick bite stop on in for a taco. read more

So I came here solely on the Yelp reviews. I've been to Norby's next door which is outstanding. But this place I drove by multiple times with no intention of stopping. It just doesn't look like the kind of place I'd like to stop. My wife, however, having been a Mexican in a previous life, asked me to stop. I said no. She then proceeded to read me the outstanding Yelp reviews. Ok, I'll bite. The place is in the back of a small market. You won't even see it when you walk in. Just keep walking to the back. Don't become discouraged by the look. It's the food that counts. The have soups, tacos, burritos, tortas (which is Mexican for sandwiches) and three "plates". Prices are low. The kitchen is not much to look at. I am certain the Health Department would take issue with this place. And these are precisely the kind of place I love to eat. The pork burrito was outstanding. It was huge. It was delicious. I ordered pork, and it had pork and rice and beans and lettuce and sour cream. It was man sized. And the flavor was outstanding. This place is really authentic. If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, limited as the menu is, you came to the right place. The burrito is not sitting well in my stomach right now. The right burrito will do that to you. This is not for the faint hearted. The place is not much to look at but the food is outstanding. I'll be back. read more

Try their COVID Tacos!! No flavor at all!!!! Also make sure you get your side of meat with their cilantro tacos.

This is a tiny but tasty spot off highway 60 opposite an orange grove. We ordered a chicken and steak burritos, beef cheek and beef tongue tacos and their homemade guacamole with fried flour tortilla chips. Everything was very good and fresh. Only downside is the grocery store was a little dirty but the food made up for it. Great quick stop if you are craving Mexican food. read more

Stopped by La Botanica today for the first time and, yes, believe the hype, it really is that good. I had the breakfast burrito (I'm vegetarian) and a cup of the horchata. You can taste how homemade everything is, nothing like burritos you get elsewhere. Plus, the staff making it, I believe it's a family joint, are super nice and friendly. While you're waiting for your food the store has many aisles of Mexican ingredients to check out as well as an aisle of badass western boots. It was telling to see the mix of local kids, golfers, and laborers all drawn in by the food. read more
