Sliced pork and onions
Tim P.

We had a nice meal here on a Sunday night. Place had a lot of character. We started with drinks. I had a very good local beer and others had a very good mojitos. We ordered the beef empanadas that we shared. Very good with an excellent sauce. Three of us ordered the chicken in a Cuban creole sauce with beans and rice. Another got the sliced pork with onions and beans and rice mixed. The chicken with the sauce was delicious and the black beans very good. The sliced pork was very good but the beans and rice mixed was kind of dry. Our waiter was great and they had salsa music which was nice. They also sold Cuban cigars for a good price. Good dining experience.

Celebrated aunts 36th birthday. A lovely cumpleaños certificate with her name and restaurant name was gifted. Unique, and cultural atmosphere. Although we only ordered a few starters- they were very filling and delicious. Recommend the mojito and modelo negra chelada.

Let me start off by saying that this review is solely for their drinks, and I did not have any food. We were walking around in the Condesa area of Mexico City, and happened to stumble upon this place. You walk in and you're instantly transported to Cuba. They have lots of seating available inside. We were able to find a place at the bar and I ordered a strawberry Mojito, which had fresh strawberries. You see them grinding the ingredients and it was delicious my brother got the original Mojito. It was his first time trying it and he really liked it. My favorite part was that they had a live band inside playing, which really set the mood. The band played really well and just made you feel good. The place was pretty packed for it being around 6 PM and it looked like everyone was having a good time. The other thing that I liked was that on the receipt they also gave you a conversion and let you know how much your total was in US dollars if you wanted to pay in dollars, which I thought was very useful. I would definitely love to come back and try out their food as I really loved the vibes of the place. Check them out if you're in Mexico City.

Food is very good. We came here twice in one week. Mojitos are good as well. Definitely one of the better restaurants in MXCD.

This place has a very authentic feel to it, and the Cuban atmosphere is so vibrant. Our waitress was very helpful with the menu and bilingual. We experienced live entertainment with singers and a guitarist. The food was delicious, I ordered the steak and shrimp and it was cooked correctly. I'll always be back to visit when in CDMX and I recommend to anyone in the Condesa neighborhood

Incredible flan with chocolate drizzle, orange liqueur, and toasted almonds.

Rating only for ambience and drinks, since we didn't get the food. Loved my mango mojito and the cool grafiti vibe of this place.

My girlfriend ordered a more common and safe platter called espagueti Alfredo. I also ordered the te manzanilla. All of our food was made to order including the manzanilla tea. The restaurant is more like an open space cafeteria and it seemed like the place was nearly full. Its a very interesting place and you can tell by some of the antique furniture and old style coffee grinder. I would bet that this restaurant was even more popular fifty years ago. Our server was very attentive even though she seemed very over-worked. She came by more than three times to make sure everything was good for us.

Apparently this is once where Guevara and Castro met before, to plan their return to Cuba. Didn't know that before walking in. Also it was a journalist hotspot back then because it is near newspaper offices. Big open space inside, doesn't look like anything have change over the years and stay the same since 1950s. Very unique, nice to sit down and enjoy breakfast in this time capsule. Menu is full of Mexican classic breakfast. Food comes out quick and hot and very delicious. I did walk in at an odd time and there were no one there.

Cornmeal Gold in Polanco…read more Órale Arepa offers a polished setting in Mexico City's high-end Polanco district, and with that comes a matching price tag--nearly $50 USD for a late lunch for two. Expected for the neighborhood, but steep for what is, at heart, elevated Venezuelan street food. We ordered the arepa tasting: six warm, griddled half-arepas served like DIY fajitas, with two meats, three cheeses, and three house-made sauces (chipotle, garlic, and avocado). The format encouraged creativity, but 60% of the offerings leaned on cheeses--mostly mild, forgettable, and largely untouched on our plates. The grilled and pulled meats were solid, as were the arepa bases: crisp-edged, warm, and fragrant. The sauces helped pull it all together, though often had to do too much of the flavor work. A side of avocado and underripe tomato did little to elevate the meal. Service was attentive and kind--our server's advice not to over-order was spot on. But while the experience was pleasant, the food fell short of memorable. For the price, there simply wasn't enough depth or distinction. A generous 3 stars.

For appetizers, we ordered the tostones con guacamole (green fried plantain slices with guacamole) and tequeños de cachapa (sweet corn cheese sticks) & I am so glad about that choice!! As someone who detests bananas and plantains, the tostones were actually delicious! Not a strong banana/plantain taste and the little coleslaw + guacamole were a great touch. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the fried cheese sticks. The mix of sweet and savory was perfection! Now, onto the star of the show: the arepa llanera. WOW. Just absolutely incredible. The arepa itself was delicious and crispy, the cheese was so good, and the beef was marinated and perfectly tender. This place is a must go in CDMX!

I say seated with parenthesis because most people end up standing here but we got lucky that a couple was leaving as we were right next to them after being asked our drink orders. It's kind of a weird system that they have and I think the staff didn't realize we didn't have our drink orders taken yet and asked the people behind us for theirs which was slightly annoying. It was a bit chaotic so I can see why it happened, but I do think they need a slightly better system. Anyways, the drinks were excellent and I love that they gave us a little small snack that included crickets (which I hadn't tried before yet). The vibes in here are really nice too. I love the dim lighting and the almost rock/clay atmosphere. The bathroom area is smaller than I was expecting but it was ok. I'd definitely return!

There are no seats, this is a standing bar except a few uncomfortable bar stools. Drinks were good, but I expected more. I got the colada and it was good, not too sweet. Almost clarified colada.
