    Vegetarian Taco with Cheese

The food is 5/5!! Service 0/5. Friend lives in area and we were in the mood for Mexican. He warned their service is awful and long wait times. I looked at the previous Yelp reviews and they were all positive. On other ratings places, complaints. I thought to do a Grubhub pick up. He lives 7 minutes away. Got there and waited until order said was ready. Went in to grab happiness. Dine in service is not being offered. There was about 9 people waiting in line or had placed orders. I could see my food sitting out on the counter, yay!!! But I had to wait in line for 15 minutes. Poor worker, he was responsible for taking orders, getting them from the back, and drinks. Yes some food items came wrapped in tin foil which was weird..but the food was beyond awesome. Negatives: paid 3.35 for 4oz of rice. Rice would have had more flavor if could add some salsa on top. They give the smallest salsa I have ever seen... no way I was waiting on that line again. Next time I'll pay to get a large side of it. Vegetarian taco, bean tostada, bean and cheese burrito, cheese enchilada (loved the sauce), and friend got beef enchilada lunch special. I'd you have the patience, which I will, in the future go! Just be prepared to wait

I can't believe I'm updating this review, but here I am doing just that. Wow, some things have definitely changed here- and for the better! Despite hesitations and prior experiences with La Azteca Taco House, I decided to give this little neighborhood dive another shot recently and I was blown away by the positive changes. They've pretty much done a 180 since I was there the last time. To begin with, the food is really good- homemade recipes made with fresh ingredients and generous toppings. The food is spicy, more like authentic Mexican food. Right now, I'd say it's probably one of the closest to authentic Mexican cuisine that I've ever had and I've been to Mexico before! I was completely shocked- this was not the old La Azteca that I not so fondly remembered. This was the new and improved La Azteca. The cheese quesadillas are good, not soggy or swathed in grease. No, they are delicious, made with zesty cheeses and not at all like those oily things that I remembered from before. They don't have traditional nachos on the menu these days, but they do have a terrific taco salad that is similar to loaded nachos. It's so good, probably the best taco salad that I've ever had in Michigan. All of the vegetables were fresh and it was loaded with sour cream and the hottest hot sauce ( both served on the side, of course) you can find anywhere. They seem to have pared down the menu selections a bit and that's probably a good thing. I think they are able to focus on special dishes a little better now instead of trying to do a lot of things and not well. They still don't have a soda fountain dispenser, but they do have bottled drinks (Coca Cola products), which is just fine with me, and they use reverse osmosis filtration systems for the water, so it's safe to drink. They've never had a liquor license that I know of, but that's not a problem, especially if you are doing takeout. As far as the ambiance goes, it's still a dive, but it's very clean and while they still have a small dining room, it seems like carryout is the ticket these days. While the service was always on the rude side before, the people behind the counter and the waitresses seemed pretty friendly this time. While the line to pick up food was long, the wait was not too bad considering how many people were lined up to grab takeout. Everyone was pleasant and cheery, making conversation with the neighborhood locals. Prices are still the best in town. I think we paid under $20 for the two of us, which is really hard to do in today's economy. Heck, Burger King costs about that for two people now! I'm glad I gave La Azteca another chance!

TACO SALAD!!!!!!!! Really inexpensive taco salad, plenty of grease, totally basic - meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, tortilla chips, and GREASE. all of the delicious grease. I don't care. Their house made salsa completes this meal which should only be considered a way to give you digestive system some likely needed exercise. Whenever I'm in Michigan, this is on my list of places to go to. Some things are just comforting, and this is high up there. The sode fountain has never worked here, but when I was here in May, it was up and running! Hallelujah!

Taco Supreme! (Some already eaten- I couldn't wait!)

One of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. I have been eating here for more than 25 years and have never been disappointed.

Home-style Mexican food!…read more This is good, authentic Mexican food, made with love and infused with a little bit of flair. It's so nice to have good Mexican food at the Flint Farmer's Market. Their chips are homemade and the salsa is awesome. Vegetarian loaded nachos are ridiculously good, made to order, with super fresh ingredients. Whichever veggies you want on your nachos, you'll get and whichever ones you don't want, they'll leave off for you. The tortilla chips are a bit greasy, but not overly so. It's not like you'll double over in GI distress afterwards! Besides, I like my chips a little oily, with just the right amount of salt. These aren't of the dry and flat ilk, but have a little zest to them instead. They also sell my husband's favorite line of seltzer water, which he can't find anywhere else around town, so that's a big plus in my book. He's always going on about that specific type of seltzer water, so even if I'm not stopping in for food, I still need to grab some of that seltzer water just to appease him. The price is right, too, with two people easily dining together for just $10. There's also a small line of grocery items, featuring rices, seasonings, spices, tortilla chips, salsa, and more available as well, with decent prices on most everything.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever had a taco with radishes before and it seems an unlikely choice for a taco, but it was surprisingly good . Their loaded nachos are very tasty and the chips have the right balance of oil and salt, without being either too much or not quite enough. Very affordable prices and extremely good service. I will be back!
