We chose this restaurant based on the 1 review already listed. I agree with everything said. We liked the location, in that it was right at the beach across from a few monuments.
We were unsure if a reservation was required, so we called and made one for 45 minutes later. We showed up on time and were seated immediately by (whom I assume) was the owner. Very welcoming and friendly, and spoke in English once he detected we were English speakers. We were seated right at the front of the restaurant, and the owner brought in the chalkboard specials for use to read, and even translated them for us.
The waiter and waitress, I assume, were his son and daughter, with his wife either running the bar or cooking. All were friendly and helpful, and seemed to appreciate it when we tried to pronounce things in French. I had the onion soup as mentioned in the other review, and it was wonderful. I ordered the Salmon "a la planche," and it was outstanding. Perfectly cooked and moist, with great flavor. It was covered with a caper/onion sauce, which was tart, but perfectly complimented the fish. Most entrees come with a choice of vegetable or fries. I had the fries, which were excellent, but I assume the vegetables would be just as outstanding.
My parents were with me, and one had the veal and the other cider sauce ham, which both also were well received.
Moving on to dessert, I had the plate with selection of local cheese, with butter, a little salad - excellent.
A basket of bread was provided with the meal.
As far as drinks, the wine selection was good, but I had a coke zero, served in larger glass bottles - much larger than the usual tiny European coke bottles, and ice cold.
Far superior to what one expect for a touristy place like directly at Omaha Beach.
I asked if a reservation was required, and was told "not usually," for dinner, but that for lunch, you most likely wouldn't get a table unless you had a reservation.
