I made a reservation here for my sister's and my first night in Saint Tropez, since it was close to our hotel and seemed to have healthy(ish)/meatless options on the menu.
The location is nice, located on a quieter street--it definitely has a quaint atmosphere. The outdoor seats are perfect for relaxing and people watching, which I did with my generous glass of champagne, la piscine ($11). They served the champagne over ice (different from what I'm used to in the states), but it was very refreshing on a hot summer evening. The place filled up quick so do make a reservation if you'd like to dine here... several groups/couples were turned away.
I ordered the Nicoise salad (sans anchovies) since I needed some protein (minus meat) but it was a little disappointing/underwhelming. The portion was on the smaller end of the spectrum and the salad contained less than what I'm used to... I had a delicious Nicoise salad in Nice a handful of years back. This version contained mixed greens (which could have been fresher), vine tomato, sliced red onion, hard boiled egg, and a couple spoonfuls of canned tuna. I remembered that the french like to overcook their hardboiled eggs, why? The salad definitely had potential if it were a little fresher and more satisfying. However, it was only $13 so nothing crazy considering it is Saint Tropez.
My sister ordered pasta in a tomato sauce which was also just okay.
Service was decent, we were served pretty quickly for European standards. But I wouldn't have minded either way. I would recommend coming here and ordering some champagne to sip, if they allow. Perhaps the meat dishes are tastier--there are better dining options for plant-based folks. read more
