THE BEST POUTINE! I…read moregrew up around Quebecois family and now that I live out of the country, when I get the opp to have poutine, I can only wish it is within La Belle Province, and especially from this little gem of a resto! The portions are immense, so either make sure you're super hungry or sharing with someone else. The fries are spot-on cooked to perfection, the gravy is just right (not too salty, not too liquidy) and of course the best part is the fresh squeaky cheese curds! And they are not shy about how much of this yummy white cheese they put on the portions. If you have never had a real poutine made with real squeaky cheese curds, then you're just plain missing out. We opted for the original creation, altho this location does offer alllllll kinds of poutine creations. My brother is a big guy (6'4") and a big eater, but he could barely finish his large order. He lives in Western Canada and stated that "they don't know what they're doing out there!" after eating this traditional Quebecoise poutine! I had a small and it was just right for my appetite. The eat-in space is small but cozy and not meant for a lengthy stay. The area is kept clean and tidy. Parking is okay, but can be sparse since the adjoined parking lot is small-ish. Good thing they offer drive-thru service, which our family use and prefer. Their feedback is that this mode of take away is always fast, friendly and delicious. Wheelchair accessible spaces. Bathroom is clean. Kudos to the VERY kind and VERY efficient team members who were working when we popped into the resto. They were willing to try their best at speaking English with my brother. He appreciated that! Merci! Thank you! This is the best of 4 poutine places we've tried in during our visits to Quebec, and it is ranked as number 1 in our experience!

On est allé vendredi soir et la fille qui nous a servi nous a très bien conseillé! Numéro unread more

English: Chocolat Favoris is better. While the soft serve here has a better consistency and is more luscious, the chocolate at Chocolat Favoris is so much richer and thicker. I do LOVE Aux Bienfaits, though, and they have incredible incredible cakes/desserts as well. They're usually pretty nice, but can get annoyed with you if you take too long to order or get confused. I have to give HIGH honors to their maple soft serve and their milk chocolate AND salted caramel chocolate coatings. Also here's a tip to get more chocolate: ask for your soft serve in a bowl, but ask for the size ice cream you want in a cup one size UP. This allows the soft serve to be fully coated with chocolate. If you don't want to ask for a cup, you can also ask for your cone double dipped.

The kitchen is a bit slow, but dishes are well prepared and seasoned perfectly. Our table loved Moules Frites, Magret of Duck and a fine seafood stew. The salads were delicious with beets, cheese and greens as were the salmon three ways and fromage pate. Best of all, the atmosphere was gentle and welcoming with good service.

After a walk along the boardwalk, we had room for dessert. My husband's key lime pie was sour and sublime. I know because I got the dessert tasting plate that normally comes with the table d'hote and it included a taste of the pie. The macarons were crunchy and soft and everything that macarons should be. The chocolate mousse cake had me moaning (the waitress laughed at me just a little). There was some kind of little ice cream sandwich and a mousse that was just delicious. It's a good thing the kitchen was closed and I couldn't order an appetizer instead of dessert like I had been planning. (Go to dinner at a North American time; this was 9:30 p.m. and the chef had gone home already). Next time we pass through Rimouski we'll definitely come for supper too.

All three times, the service was lackluster,…read moreand something in our order was incorrect. 2 out of 3 times, we ordered in-person, and the last time was drive thru. The staff were all seemingly annoyed with me and my dad. I am fully bilingual, he is not at all, speaks only English. It was a weird vibe when I went in with my dad who did his best to order en francais, and it was not all in our minds. It was too bad that the young staff put forth the kind of unfriendly vibes that they did instead of putting customer service and kindness to the front of our interactions. It is worth mentioning that there were ample staff members working and not unusually busy. The restaurant area was not very tidy or well-stocked. When I asked about getting 2 bags of ground coffee, no one seemed to have any idea what I was asking about, and just pointed me in the general directly of the empty shelves (bags of ground coffee MIA). I ended up buying 2 bags of beans instead. Atmosphere gets 3 stars thanks to the very friendly patrons who both tried to assist my dad with his order, and who smiled, wished up a great day and held the door for my dad. We appreciated this. Bathroom was not clean. Our orders, in no particular order, over the 2 weeks were sandwiches, toasted bagel w/cream cheese, a few donuts and of course, Timmy's coffee. Our sandwich was not made as requested by me, in French. The bagel did not have cream cheese when ordered by dad, and had butter only but we were charged for cheese. The donuts were good/those orders were correct. The coffees were the wrong size, and had the wrong add-ins (all were double-double instead of one black). These many errors, the crappy attitude just leaves a bad taste and feeling in one's mind about this location. Parking is on-site/private and wheelchair accessibility is good. I'd go out of my way to go to a different location (which we did for the rest of this visit to la belle province, and our subsequent one months later).

For example, I've mostly gotten pasta here, and it's all been good. The Alfredo is good, pesto is good, rosé sauce, etc. You can also get it "gratinée" which means added cheese broiled on top... and who's mad at that?! Beware that if it is busy, service might be fairly slow. Also - their central cafe chocolate cake is decadent and AMAZING.

In the room in which we sat decorated was a bunch of bird feeders on the wall. A bit odd but provided a homey old fashioned feel. I was thinking..... either the guy who owns this has a big fascination for birds or birdhouses! I started the meal off with a carrot and ginger soup which I felt was a bit overly salted. Then I chose the seafood pizza. This came out somewhat disappointing as it had a few specs of seafood. I do understand for the price $15 they can't load it. Charge me more and give me a better serving! After eating at the maison Spag their pizza here left much to be desired. Service was pleasant, warm and nice! Maybe my food was a poor menu choice. Price was reasonable and decent.
