I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I give this shawarma a 3/5 stars only because of the sauce! The meat is seasoned well and has great veggies inside but let's be real. What is a shawarma with out delicious sauce! The white sauce can use a bit more garlic as well as the spicy sauce which wasn't even spicy AT ALL. Literally just salty, unfortunately. I've traveled to other countries with some amazing sauce for example the shawarmas in St. maarten Dutch side by the movie theaters is to die for. But I do love their authenticity and the fact that they use a mix of lamb and turkey. The meat is fresh but I know that a Better sauce would force you to finish your shawarma even when you're full. I actually didn't even eat 1/4th but I did eat the falafel and that was perfect on its own. But once again let's imagine if it had a kick ass sauce. Anywho definitely worthy of a stop. I am Caribbean and my palate is just accustom to spices and flavor. So for the average person this might be outstanding. Considering how many reviews it has. Bonne chance a tous ! read more

Ouais alors chuuuuuut! Je tenterais les falafeleur d'à côté la prochaine fois... Même s'ils sont vide à cause de l'as du falafel! Je serais au moins traité comme je le mérite! read more

Alright let's sum this up - one of the greatest meals I have ever had. Remembering my falafel sandwich brings me to a happy place, and I have already resolved to return to Paris so I can eat this again. If you just want the falafel sandwich, make sure you get in the right line! There's a line to get inside the restaurant, a line for the general takeaway window, and literally a separate line just for falafel. I can't write more, it makes me too sad every time I remember how far I am from L'as du Fallafel read more

Delicious. I fell for the first falafel place on that alley (it has the green awning and this one has the red one) thinking it was L'As so I had to come back and actually have L'As! Everyone recommends this from friends who have lived in Paris to Rick Steves. I walked mine over to Place du Vosges (sp?) and finished it on a bench there. Funny to think you come to Paris and have a falafel when I'm from LA and there's plenty falafel there. It was a nice break from traditional French cuisine I suppose. Definitely a break for my wallet. BTW no place to sit. They speak English so it's not a problem. read more

Not a huge fan of eating non-French food in France...but., when you've overdosed on macaroons, cheese and baguette...a little falafel is exactly what's needed. Best I've had. Much better than anything you can find in the U.S. or even Israel. read more

I was absolutely impressed by the food here. We ordered the falafel with pita bread (of course). One of the best fallafels I have ever had! When visiting Paris, this is the place to go for a bite to eat. Good quality of ingredients and the service is speed! read more

Good falafel. Good price. Went on a weekday at lunch in January and had almost no wait. Doesn't really live up to the level of hype there is around this place though. Would come back however. read more

If you're in the Marais area looking for a good shawarma this is the place. Simple, quick and great!

YUM YUM YUM!!!!!!!! I would go back every single day if I could. Probably the best falafel I have ever had.

This is the best fallafel have ever had and I have been to Israel. Do yourself a favor and eat here. :)

I mean it's good. The falafels and all the ingredients are really great and they have vegetarian options but I don't understand the hype of the place. Idk a lot of the servers didn't really care, it was just one kid that was doing most of the work. Also the French fries kind didn't taste like they were freshly made. The hype doesn't really live up to it. I wouldn't come back here. Nothing special. read more

Food: I got a mixed meat plate dish and my wife got the falafel plate. I have to say, the food here is pretty good. The mixed came with chicken, liver, and I think either pork or beef. The mixed meat to me, sorta tasted a similar Korean dish I had in the past. Food rating: 4.5/5 Service: This place gets really pack, so it's hard to provide good service. Service rating: 3.5/5 Price: Expect to pay about $13+ for the main entree dishes. Overall: IMO, it is worth the wait if there is a line. Food is good that is pretty reasonably priced. read more

Best falafel sandwich ever !i am totally going back ! There's no regret standing in long line. Totally worth it . Btw the line might seem long but they don't take long ..... read more

Amazing falafel and so cheap. People are friendly too!

Excellent falafel, priced right. I only wish they had a location near where I live, so I could eat falafel while watching my favorite team... L'As du Oakland. read more

Best falafel I ever had. Very quick service and even though the place is small it fits in a lot of people. A little tight but it's all worth it. Very clean place. Lots of varieties and they even have Israeli beer. Menu in English and French. read more

This place is world famous, and deservedly so. Sure, there's always a long line, but these guys have been doing this for a while, and have perfected the art of getting the line moving quickly and efficiently. Your order is taken just as you get in line, though if you'd like to add to it after you've had some time to think about it, it's perfectly possible. I'd had falafel from two other places in London since returning from Paris and L'As du Falafel beats them both hands down. After receiving my falafel, I noticed a sign in the cafe window stating that this place was endorsed by Lenny Kravitz, along with a photo of said musician with the guy who'd just given me my falafel. I'm not sure if that in itself is an indicator of the quality of the falafel here, but I just thought it was an interesting, funny bit of trivia to throw in. While this place is open throughout the week, I'd recommend coming here on a Sunday, getting a falafel and then exploring the rest of Le Marais, given it's one of the few quarters in Paris which is open and active on a Sunday. read more

A true gem in the Marais, their falafel sandwiches lived up to the hype- Moist and hot on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was quick and family friendly. If you like it spicy, be sure to get the hot sauce. And get a drink because, wow, was it salty. I must say it was the saltiest falafel I've had in 25 years- Otherwise I'd give them 5 stars. Stop here for lunch and then get dessert at one of the Jewish bakeries. Bon appétit! read more

English: This is my favorite Falafel place. Hands down. I've probably eaten here more than all the other restaurants I've been to in Paris combined. When I lived in Paris I went here at least once a week. And now every time I go to Paris I stop here for lunch, unless it's a Saturday when the restaurant i closed. Amazing falafel. Amazing toppings. And... I just discovered when I went there to sit down for the first time in ages, that Monday through Thursday you can get schug ("piment vert") there on top of/instead of the harissa, which is much spicier and more delicious. The schawarma is also very good. Your options are waiting outside in line (which goes very fast) and just eating as you walk through le Marais, or eating in. 95% of the time I just get it to go. The line can be a bit intimidating and sometimes it gets hectic, but don't be discouraged, because it's well worth the 5 euros for one of the most delicious falafels ever.

saw this place on a bunch of food blogs so I decided I had to try it. There was a long line but it moved pretty fast. we ordered the falafel and schwarma. both were delicious! Order it with everything and both sauces. It was so good we had to go back again before we left Paris! read more

Deep in the Marais, I finally returned to L'As du Fallafel, often imitated (there's another one across the street) but never beaten. The quirk here is that you actually have to go inside to buy your meal, before heading back outside to hand it to the vendor. Many a tourist has queued up, finally reaching the window before being sent inside and subsequently to the back of the queue. Not this guy though! Instead of the standard fallafel, I opted for the meat, both chicken and lamb, grilling slowly on the spit, it had fantastic flavour, and the pitta was stuffed full of it, along with chili sauce, fried aubergines, lettuce and hummus. I wish I had more napkins, towards the end the combination of the sauce and the drippings for the meat lead to a little puddle in the bottom of the wrapper and it did get everywhere when the paper finally let go. One mark off for that and the fact that they could make it clearer for tourists to go inside and pay, it isn't that hard to figure it out, but you kinda assume that if you line up, then you can do everything in one go. Of course it is more hygenic to do it that way! read more

Crisp hot falafel, inexpensive and a line/money collecting system outside that actually worked. This was a home run when hungry and didn't want to spend too many euro. Great tasting falafel too. read more

The best falafel around. Skip going to any other place around and go straight to this one! Authentic

Finally, something outside of a boulangerie in Paris where someone can get a budget bite on the run. My friends and I had just spent the past 4 hours in doing the Louvre. We were exhausted and I warned them of the long walk to this place. The journey was filled with complaining and my constant soothing, "We're almost there!" In the middle of the day, the wait was about 10-15 minutes. A man walked up to us while we were waiting on line and took our money and order. By that point, we were so jaded from the walk that we realized that we could have almost gotten scammed. American tourists must always be wary when traveling Europe. Don't worry though, the guy actually does work for the falafel shop. The sandwich was not the best falafel I've best, but definitely up there. Filled with many ingredients, a spicy red sauce, and well cooked falafel balls, I would recommend this for a cheap eat and something different from Parisian baguettes and bistros. read more

This is by far, the best falafel I have ever had. It's an interesting, hectic little street full of twists and turns, but we were definitely there for a reason so we were not distracted.. You can dine inside or order with the guy outside and take it to go. We took it to go and ate on a hydrant, along with a box of fresh strawberries, as to not feel like complete fat asses. The shwarma and the falafel were massive. The veggies and sauces were falling out, and it was really difficult to eat with both hands. Definitely wish we had a table. It lives up to the name and it's just truly delicious. read more

There are two other falafel places near this one, and I don't know how they stay in business. L'as du Falafel is always jam packed with people, but there is always an option for take away and sitting on a sidewalk nearby! The guys who work here make falafels like magic: swift, sharp movements... a few slices of eggplant here, some lettuce, topped with crispy falafels, quickly layered with some sauce, then another few falafels thrown on top. There is nothing for me to complain about here. Even the prices are cheap, at €6.00 a pop for their vegetarian falafel option. read more

This review is overdue. just wanted to give this place some more props. Nothing new can be added to the existing reviews. Perfect falafel heaven. Haven't had anything close to this in the states or anywhere in Europe. A must do while in Paris. read more

I had mega expectations after very bloated Yelp reviews. Being from the Middle East, I know falafel. So got in line, waited 15-20 mins, it's a lively street so the atmosphere is great and makes the wait go by fast. So the sandwich. The bread, is absolutely lovely. It's very soft and just absorbs all the flavor! The sandwich, as an idea is great. Delicious, big, saucy, messy. A good sandwich is messy. But I think in the hype they've gotten, they slipped a bit. At least the night I went. It was salty. The salad was salty and the falafel was salty. I could tell the sandwich would have been epic if not for that part. I couldn't finish it. The salt killed me. Maybe it was an off night, idk. Long story short: it was yummy but don't trouble yourself to make a trip. If you're in the area, then go, but it's not a must have read more

L'As du Fallafel - Falafel with all the fixings - Kosher Near Me - Paris, 75

When you see locals walking around carrying this you must become certain that this place is pretty good. My husband and I decided to stop here for an early light dinner and we are very pleased we did. The atmosphere is like any other Parisian cafe with cramped seating and people engrossed in conversation. We made our way to the back and got to sit by the wall which was fine because I rather not feel any more enclosed than I already was. The food was served pretty quick to us after we ordered two falafel sandwiches and coke zeros. The food was a bit drier than we were used to. However the combination of the salad and falafel made the palate interesting yet dry. Overall I gave the food and the restaurant a solid 4. read more

Wowza! 5euros for a whole falafel wrap!? This was by far the biggest surprise for me in Paris. What a great little joint. You know its going to be good when the line not only wraps around the plaza and but the place in front of you is selling the exact same stuff and there are only 2 people. The falafel was cooked to perfection. It had fresh satziki with purple cabagge and oh so amazing flavorful soft eggplant pieces. The bread was amazing and just melted perfectly with the whole dish. read more

My husband and I sought out this window of greek goodness after our visit to the Picasso Museum and were not at all disappointed by what we found. The Fallafel and Shawarma were INCREDIBLE. So many layers of flavor and texture packed into those delicious pitas. And so cheap! Definitely worth the few blocks it took to walk there and we lucked out on a bench nearby to stop and enjoy our meal (very little seating avail). There was a line of about 10 people in front of us (tourists and locals) and staff were walking down the line taking orders and accepting payment which made the wait go super fast. Beware though, double check you are receiving correct change as I noticed we were 2 euros short and I heard a couple others in line wondering the same. Other than that, totally recommend this place for authentic greek and a quick/cheap meal! read more

We ordered two falafel specials and a chicken sandwich. Both were delicious! We went around 8PM and there was a line but they took our order ahead of time and only waited about 15 minutes. Service was friendly and ingredients were fresh. read more

Believe the hype. We tried another falafel place down the street, and there's no comparison - this is the genuine article, right here. There's a reason a line forms down the block every day. This place has the best falafel in the city, and maybe even the damn planet. It's easily the best my wife and I have ever had, and for five euros, it's an incredible bargain you can't miss. Also, let's not leave out the shawarma, which is just as good, and only a couple euros more. Forget the haute cuisine and Michelin stars of Paris - if you want a truly unique eating experience in this city, this is the place to go. I miss my lunches here dearly, and can't wait to return for more. read more

I've eaten a lot of falafel in my life - around the US, in Israel, in France - and this is the best falafel I've had HANDS DOWN. Don't be deterred by the line, it moves quickly and is well worth the wait. Just thinking about that pita stuffed with falafel, eggplant, and other goodness is making me hungry. It's just SO GOOD. You really can't get any better for 5 euro. read more

Totally agree with other rave reviews for the awesome falafel. Would just like to add an extra "Merci beaucoup!" to the restaurant for waving me and my baby to the front of the line so that we didn't burn to a crisp and/or have a total meltdown while standing in a very long line on a very hot summer day. Pretty funny that this is the most-reviewed restaurant on Yelp in all of Paris, but it may in fact be one of your best meals there. read more

Two different friends suggested I go here and shortly before I left Seattle and headed to Paris. It was even mentioned locally in the Seattle Times! I have never seen a bigger fallafel sandwich! It is stuffed full of veggies including eggplant and cucumbers and more falafel than I thought a pita could hold. This is traditional Jewish falafel and the restaurant is Kosher. It's in the Marais and there are a handful of other falafel places a Jewish bakery and lots of cool boutiques near by. When you walk up to L'as a nice gentleman asks you if its for here or to go, takes your money and gives you a slip. You get in line and wait for them to build your delicious sandwich. I'm not a huge tahini fan and they even gave me a dollop of hummus for my sandwich which was either 7 or 8 euros. One of the best lunches I had during my 3 weeks in Europe. I highly recommend a stop if you head to Paris. read more

Imagine wandering through the streets trying to find this Falafel place and it's freezing cold. After numerous wrong turns, we finally stumble upon this gem. Don't be fooled by the numerous other falafel places that you have to pass to get to this one. You'll know it's the right one when you see the long line for take out. I highly recommend just getting take out so you don't have to pay double the price for the same thing. We decided to get the falafel and the lamb one. I haven't had many falafel's in my life, but this was pretty good. I'm not sure if it's worth the trek there since it's pretty far from the metro.. read more
