The Arc de Triomphe (pron Tree omph) is a nice monument. It is in a pretty crowded area, I'm assuming it is because it's next to the Champ Elysees. I did not get close to the Arc as there are lanes of traffic between the side walk and the structure. Many people felt the same. It was pretty crowded at the corner sidewalk where everyone took pictures as opposed to risking crossing a very busy street. If I had planned to go to the top, I would of thought otherwise. After visiting the structure and seeing it in person, I found that it wasn't really worth going across the way. Actually, a similar arc, Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel outside the Louvre, I found to be more intriguing, beautiful, and easily accessible. I am actually confused why the Arc at the Carrousel is not more renowned. It actually looks like it has better reviews, perhaps cause you can't go to the top? Also, getting a view of a famous shopping street, is not necessarily enough motivation for me to climb. However, I did hear you can get great view of the Eiffel Tower. I can check this famous structure off the bucket list but I think with the many many things to do and see in Paris, it would be more than okay to pass this one up. read more

Ever since I ever dreamed of having a wedding this was my number one spot. It gives the perfect view of my favorite city and although I am always in awe of the tower when I see it up close and personal the Arc always gives me chills. I love that they have the underpass (something that I missed on my first visit and can still feel the terror my friends and I felt as we navigated the roundabout ) as well as a section of the street on the Champs for tourists to stop and get a perfect shot. The line is long but moved and I like how they let small groups of people go up at a time so that slow and out of shape people like myself won't cause congestion when we have to stop for a break. I like the statues that they have inside before heading up the last flight. Kind of gives people a chance to catch their breath so that they're not dying when faced with the most perfect view. read more

AAAh, Francophiles unite. Set the stage, c'etait deux mille trois. I was a senior in high school and our club francophone spent the week of spring break in Paris, France. This was one of our stops. I love how you can stare at the Arc while you are standing on the Champs Elysee. I love the view from the top, you can see the Sacre Coeur in Monmartre and you can see the financial district and pretty much everything else! Chouette! I recall it did move slowly to get up to the top and it's kinda tight but who cares, can't remember how much it cost but I know it was worth it. A group of kids from our class had the tradition to play hackey sack (this was big in the early 00's I guess don't know if it still is) at famous land marks like the Louvre and at Versailles. So American. I love how the Arc was in my favorite film of all time, 'French Kiss.' Paris, je t'aime to be sure! read more

The inside up the stairs (so many stairs in Paris) is a very interesting and kind of hidden museum. I think I would have enjoyed this more if I wasn't to tired from traveling. If I'm back in Paris I'll be returning to the Louvre, but not here. For me there is an uncomfortable feeling about this location. read more

Arc De Triomphe is a massive monumental statue meticulously made, and crafted out of intricate precious stone. Visual representation of Arc De Triomphe varies dramatically in exact reference depending on vantage point. In the least strategic advantageous views, it might seem mediocre. However, on the contrary, in the best, highest quality views, there is ultra magnificent, striking prominent reflection of a landmark surrounding periphery area zone of attention. This particular landmark is part of a quintessential Paris France experience. Although, I feel the Arc De Triomphe became too stereotypical in association, so maybe less attention towards proper identification is a future imperative. read more

A must see when visiting Paris. surrounded by a roundabout - so if you are on foot take advantage of the underground crossways. During the day people are permitted to climb to the top and take in the beautiful views. And in the evening the monument is lit with gorgeous warm lighting. read more

The Arc de Triumph is a great monument. We visited on foot and spent about 20 minutes checking it out from the ground level. We did not buy tickets to enter the monument. It was difficult to get to due to its location in the middle of a major roundabout. There is a stairwell on the sidewalk that leads to a tunnel you have to use to access it. read more

Arc of Triomphe is breath taking. The sculptures in Paris never fail to amaze me. They look so alive and, honestly, I wish I paid more attention during history class in school. It's definitely a place which makes me want to be more enlightened. I miss it, already. read more

Standing here, one feels at the heart of Paris, the heart of france. Upon the names of those who had fallen for france and even the tomb of the soldier unknown, it is here history has taken the front. Amazingly being in the middle of what i seem to think as the largest traffic circle known to man, this is indeed a serene place. Parked on top of Avenue de Champ Elysee, one can go down the avenue after. But don't forget to visit the tomb of the Unknown soldier. It is indeed a sight, and if you're american, you may recognize that it is that very flame that inspired the eternal flame over JFK's grave read more

I was walking down a street and then all of a sudden I see it peaking from the trees and I just got that much more excited about walking around on a hot summer day. the Arc de Triomphe is huge! It's so detailed and such a significant Paris landmark. You stand right under it and you just feel inspired. Not to mention it's practically a landmark for where the Avenue des Champs-Élysées start. Such good memories! read more

This was one of my favorite spots to sit and be inspired. To read the names on the arc and to think about what those soldiers went through. What were their last thoughts? Did they have a family that was waiting for them to return? The Arc de Triomphe is right in the middle of an intersection, but when your sitting underneath the Arc, all seems quiet. It has a sense of peace to it, that can only be explained by experiencing it for yourself. Get lost in the tunnels underneath, see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Afterwards, get lost walking down Avenue de Champs Elysees. It's touristy, but fun, none-the-less. If you're in Paris for only a couple of days, make this one of the priority sites to see. read more

SO MANY STEPS. So be prepared. We decided to go up right after we walked up the steps of the Eiffel Tower. It said 283 steps as a warning. Ok no problem, we just walked up the Eiffel Tower. Well you can't stop and take a breath! People are right in front of you and behind you pushing you forward up some tiny circling stairs. This woman pushed ahead of me and then started getting out of breath not even a third of the way up. Maybe you shouldn't push people then! However, it is such a cool view to look down the Champs Elysees and to see down to La Defense. I never even knew you could go up it, but I highly recommend it. It's also just beautiful down below so if you don't want to pay, just go and check it out from below. It's well worth it. read more

Great place to visit on non windy days. I unfortunately went here on a windy day. We got the Museum Pass at the airport and it was TOTALLY worth it if you are visiting monuments like this. We got to cut a 15-20min line. My bf and I walked up with no one in our way. It's a great place for a 360 view of Paris. You'll probably spend about 30-40min at most to the top. Maybe about 15 mins of walking up many steps. Definitely go in the late evening or late morning before all the tourist come. it gets pretty crowded on the ground level. It's also nice to relax to sit on the monument and watch the cars drive by and the people walk by. Bring water if you think you are going on a HOT day. read more

I do love the Arc de Triomphe, and I think I love it even more than the Eiffel Tour (sorry, M. Eiffel) -- it's gorgeous and breathtaking, and the roundabout round about it adds to the sense of rush and wonder. You can climb the stairs to the top, which will give you a fantastic view of the city. (Although if you are not prepared for a strenuous climb, tend toward claustrophobia, or have an unnatural loathing for stairs, I would recommend enjoying the view from beneath.) A must-see for anyone passing through this city. Ticket prices are minimal, EUR9 for adults, and free for anyone under 18. read more

The Arc de Triomphe offers the best views of this area of Paris. At first I was confused as how to get to this memorial for war soldiers. There is an underpass that one can access. I paid to take the elevator to the top. I could not handle walking up 200+ steps. read more

A must visit on any Parisian stop. Take some time to walk around this landmark and look at the carvings and imagine the stories behind it. I booked this Cultival through isangoo.com - STAY AWAY. we were one minute late (tour began at 11:30) and after 7 minutes of asking around called the emergency number, only to find an answering machine, I left a voicemail with my name, number and hopes of catching up with the tour. isangoo! tried on my behalf (I had proof of making the call to them at 11:38 and a dated/timed photo) and Cultival REFUSED to reschedule or refund. No need to worry about the pick pockets - just book Cultival and they definitely will steal your money. There was NOTHING listed on any of my 3 pages of paperwork on their convenient "No Show" policy which is why they refused to reschedule or refund our money. "Arc de Triomphe is a must visit when at Champs Elysees", whic is exactly what we did when we visited back in summer of 2016. Didn't have intentions to visit on the day we did, but as we were visiting and shopping @ Champs Elysees, and came right up to the Arc de Triomphe where on top people were looking down on us... so we decided to visit Arc de Triomphe. When walking there's a couple of areas to enter, which both go underground.... Ticket price about 9.50 Euro which is very reasonable...there is a bit of stair climbing... but it's no sweat even for the middle age up.....It's a pretty cool monument and when you get to the top, the view is great... Everyone on top took tons of pics... Don't waste your time with buying a tour at about $50 pp, Get there yourself and buy the tickets for and save yourself tons of $. Wait was on about 10 minutes for tix. read more

I think it's best to go at night because there is less traffic and it's so beautiful all lit up. Arc de Triomphe is one of Paris' most famous sights to see. It's in the heart of all the action too. It's a place you see in movies and the like. Paris is a wonderful city, and I still remember it vividly despite visiting in 2010. read more

A must see for any one visiting Paris, though since it is at the top of the Champs-Elysees it is hard to miss when doing the grand tour of the city. It's on the other side of the avenue from the Place de la Concorde. Below the monument is the tomb of the unknown soldier with a flame to commemorate the dead soldiers of WWI. Above the monument is a great view of Paris, especially when the Champs are decorated and illuminated. read more

If the queues for the Eiffel Tower are a bit too much (which they often are!) and you're looking for a cracking view of Paris from high, then give the Arc' a go. Don't be put off by the 283 steps to the top signs that are outside. The climb is broken up by various (excellent) exhibitions on the way; by the time you get to the top you don't feel as though you've done nearly 300 steps to get there. And don't forget the tomb of the unknown soldier at the bottom, either. All in all, the whole thing is great value. read more

Quite a cool monument and well worth a visit. Best to visit using the Museum card. A couple of points from a tourist: 1. The toilet's are often crowded and on the middle floor. Hold on. 2. There's loads of stairs. 3. It's great to see the city, as well as the crazy French drivers on the roundabout below. read more

Despite being overshadowed by the fairly nearby Eiffel Tower the Arc de Triomphe is still an impressive landmark within Paris and is a must visit. This huge monument is in the middle of a retail and business area of Paris and is at the centre of one the busiest (and some say most dangerous) roundabouts in the world. It is worth a visit just to watch the traffic struggling with the complex situation. The Arc itself is magnificent and reminds you of France's military past. There are subways to the Arc and it is free to look around from the ground but will cost 9 Euros if you want to go to the top. read more

My favourite place in Paris isn't the Eifel tower, or the Louvre, or the Notre Dame cathedral. Yes, you heard me right. What I j'adore the most in the French capital is the Arc de Triomphe! It is so massive, so respectful and beautiful. But don't just stare at it from the outside! Climbing on the top of it is a must - spectacular overview of Paris, with the Eifel Tower, Champs-Élysées avenue, the Louvre in the background... and as a bonus you get to "stalk" some of the lovely residential buildings around. Located at the Charles de Gaulle square (aka Place de l'Etoile) it is a crossing point of the 12 streets that all end (or begin?) at the Arc, including the famous Champs-Elysees. Vibrant place, lively, beautiful - both at day and night. read more

Cool and Moving It is an iconic structure and the views are indeed amazing. One surprisingly fun thing to do at the top is watch the traffic below. This magnificent landmark gives you a better view of Paris: 360 view of the whole city PLUS Eiffel! Don't forget to witness the exploding Eiffel every hour.
