Great. Great monument to soldiers. If you like to monumentalize people who fight and kill then this is great. Not my cup of tea though.

Definitely worth the effort and time to visit. To access the Arc de Triomphe, you walk thru an underground tunnel (under no circumstances should you try to access on the street level). You have to pay to go to the top; visitors are offered access via stairs, but if you ask for the elevator, it will be provided (likely a wait). Views from the top are wonderful and it's really cool to see the streets all join like the spoke on a wheel, and that is really visible from a higher perspective. read more

Amazing view. Need to buy your ticket down in the tunnel first then go online, just reminding as we did not know. Go up a bunch of stairs so if you're not in shape, it will be a breather. Go up during sunset. You will not regret it. When turns to nigh' you'll see all the lights turn up at the other places and such, the Effie tower too. read more

It's a beautiful vantage point to see the city from center out. The views are gorgeous, especially when it's dark and you can see all the lights. The hike up to the top can be a little longer than expected but when you get up top and see all of Paris spread around you, it's well worth it. read more

A lot bigger than I expected. Tunnels are great and keep people from crossing the road. It is beautiful and impressive.

My favorite thing about this monument as a monument is 'La tombe du soldat inconnu' just below it. Now when you are on top of l'arc, it's not so much the view of the Champs élysées that's impressive but actually the view looking straight below into the chaos of cars and motorbikes, scooters, buses and vans going into the rond point de l'étoile... How there are no collisions in that mess is purely miraculous, maybe that unknown soldier is watching over the drivers. read more

I've only went up the Arc De Triomphe three times in my life, but the climb was hellish for me ;) 7000 twirling steps to the top hellish. Wear your plats, tennis shoes. This is a no joke climb. It's like the step master times 10,000. Your buttocks will thank you at the top, tight buns is always a good thing. 1000 calories lost for sure. Bring a bottle water before you master this climb, which is well worth the views and boasting/complaining about it afterwards ;) In all, do not miss this sight. You will get the most picturesque view, memorable sights, and a laughable time watching all the crazy cars circle the monument. I hope to visit this place a 4th time but more prepared. I love the Arc de Triomphe. It feels like such a central point of Paris. My most recent trip was the first time I climbed to the top. It was well worth it though i certainly got dizzy on the way up... and on the way down. The view from the top is spectacular, brilliant views out to the Eiffel Tower. Love it! I feel like all roads lead to the arc... it's great to see. read more

An icon of Parisian history. Definitely pay the €9.50 to go the top. It's a great view of Paris plus of the Eiffel Tower as well. The steps to get to the top are not so great. They could use the elevator if you ask me, but it is nice to say you climbed up the steps. Just make sure you are physically fit. The steps seem never ending half way through and can leave you quite a bit out of breath. Then again, it is great to walk off all those extra lbs you are bound to pick up during your stay in Paris. read more

Arc de Triomphe is not only an extremely beautiful and unique monument but it also symbolize victory and triumph after the defeat of Hitler in WWII. I love the intricate details of the arc itself although admittedly- I probably did not understand most of it. You have to pay admission to enter the arc (entrance is underground), and then go up a spiral staircase that is very cramped, old, and hot. It was not horrible (St. Paul's Cathedral was way worse), but it is not a pleasant experience either. The view from the top is beautiful but I probably prefer the Eiffel tower more even though it is much more crowded. read more

When I first saw this awesome monument with my wife in 2011 my first thoughts were of the famous photograph of Nazi troops marching through it and another photo taken later of course with U.S. troops marching and tanks after liberating Paris and marching under it and with this structure in the background!' Worth the climb to the top. Stunning views of the Parisian skyline from one of the world's most iconic landmarks.

Seeing this structure in person was amazing. To see the structure, you have to enter it from underground tunnels. Once you get there, then you begin to take in the size of this structure. If it's your first time, then yes, go to the top. Keep in mind that you have to climb stairs to reach the top, and that it's a spiral staircase and there is not much wiggle room. If you need to rest, then it holds up the people behind you. read more

I guess I don't have much to add in addition to what the other reviewers have said but I really enjoyed getting to see this landmark up close. There were many tourists who stayed on the outside of the circle and just took pictures from across the street but it is definitely worth it to go thru the underground tunnel and see the carvings in the stonework up close. It was so beautiful. You can check out the outside without paying but we did go up inside of the arch as well. We bought the museum pass and so it was included. They sell the passes onsite and the line was not long so this is a great option to buy it here before you go to the Louvre or other places with longer lines. It is also included in the Paris city pass as well. We were also lucky in that the staff took pity on my husband and I since we are not in the best shape and were also extremely jet lagged (this was our first day in Paris) and so they let us use the elevator to get to the top even though I think it is technically only for handicapped people who are unable to climb the stairs. As others have mentioned the stairs are steep and windy. We took them to go down and that was enough of a workout for me and also I got a little dizzy going round and round. The view from the top is well worth it though. It is really amazing to get to see the Champs-Élysées and other streets radiating out like a star and view all the lovely buildings of Paris from above. There's also a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coure. In addition to the view there are some cool sculptures and exhibits on the history of the Arc de Triomphe's construction on the inside too. read more

Near the Champ Elysee and not much else but it is definitely worth the stop. If in Paris, you just have to. It is a beautiful piece of architecture, has an interesting history, and has wonderful views. The lines move pretty quickly too. Also, admission is covered by the Paris Museum Pass! If you don't have the Pass it would be worth the price though. There are 200+ stairs. It's not too bad. Tiring and spiraling, but not too bad. Take your time if you must. And if you are on the top, please don't be an Eiffel Tower hog. Lots of people wanted the lookout corner with the best view of the Tower (us included). We took our quick selfie there and moved on. Please don't be that person who hogs! Around 6pm there is a little ceremony at the eternal flame below the arch. It was a surprise but it was really nice to watch. The men took it really seriously and it made you think and appreciate. Apparently, this ceremony takes place daily. Worth a watch, just be respectful. Visiting the Arc is a must when in Paris. read more

The Triumphal Arch is absolutely one of the biggest attractions in Paris you have to see. The Arch is situated in centre of Paris, marking one of the ends of Champs-Élysées. The most famous street in Paris. If you are visiting the city and are a european citizen and 18-25 years old, you have FREE entrance, just show some valid ID (passport, driver license etc.). This gives you te opportunity to go upstairs and see the view from the top. The most fantastic thing about the Triumphal Arch, is how the roundabout around it is splitting up in 12 streets. This makes you feel like you're in the center of the world and gives a nice view of the town. It's also fun to watch the insane traffic around the Arch. If you've free entrance, there is no excuse to not take the few stairs to the top. It's absolutely worth it. Look at some of the pictures, and you'll know what I mean. read more

If you are first-timer, you may find yourself as perplexed as I was on how to cross the massive roundabout of death, dodging cars at this extremely busy street. Well, there is a very conveniently located tunnel under the street that pops you out right underneath the monument. In terms of Triumphal Arches around the world, this one is most massive I've ever seen. We did not go up to the top, but I would probably recommend doing that since there isn't really anything to do once here besides stare up at the architectural designs. read more

another "don't-miss" while in Paris is the Arc de Triomphe. it is accessible only via a subterranean tunnel from the surrounding blocks, thanks to what is supposedly the busiest roundabout in the world. or so our tour guide told us. she also said that no insurance policy is valid on that roundabout since accidents are so frequent. I didn't get a chance to go to the top when there, as there was a crazy line, but there is enough to see at the base! the names of several generals and battles, primarily of the Napoleonic Wars if memory serves, are inscribed, as well as a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier paying respect to fallen soldiers. great views of Champs-Elysses and other streets can be had from here. the layout of Paris in this section is similar to a wheel, with the spokes coming out from where the Arch is. read more

Awesome. We arrived during a military procession. I didn't know much about the Arch or its history but it was amazing. The Paris Pass let us go right to the top. Winding winding winding stairs but so worth it. From the top here are great picture to be had of Montemarte and the rest of Paris. Just lovely. read more

we didn't go in here but it was gorgeous to see. we meant to go back here at night but never made it. this is also where I was almost hit by a car! my fiance loved to run across the street when there was no cars but they'd suddenly come whipping around the corner and almost clipped my leg as I jumped out of the way. after that I never let us cross unless it was a light with the can walk sign! read more

Number two spot in all of Paris. It was totally unexpected: the view from the top is phenomenal. you can see all of Paris, and can see right down the Champs-Elysee to the Louvre. You can see La Defense, which is the commercial district. You can see the Eiffel Tower in all its glory, and Sacre Couer on its hill. read more

This is a must! Don't let the steps deter you from going up! It was awesome to go up just before sunset because the views were great and perfect for photos. Ten streets converge at this turnabout. Make sure to see the Eiffel Tower lights sparkle at the top of the hour (starts at 9pm) from atop the Arc de Triompe. Very romantic and just cool to experience. We had passes, so we totally got to skip the line here. Good thing, because that line looked yuck. We got right in. Stairs are steep! But we walked straight up to the top and it was an awesome view. There are 2 circle platforms for taking fabulous selfies of Paris in the background. Don't skip this! It was wonderful to see and climb up. And watching the French drive in that roundabout traffic is both entertaining and unbelievable. How they don't wreck every 2 minutes is beyond me. read more

What an amazing site! At first, my wife didn't want to go because she thought it wouldn't be that great. Boy was she wrong. It's impressive for so many reasons: its sheer size, it's location in the middle of a huge roundabout along Champs Elysee, and the panoramic view of the city you have from the top. Yes an iconic piece, but I was not very impressed with the inside. I did get a really cool shot of the winding staircase... but other than that. Also once you have been to the top of the eiffel tower... the roof top doesn't seem as impressive. I would say go to this first, you will appreciate it more that way. read more

After so many times in Paris I finally got to experience I as a real tourist, which means for the first time I got it about Champ Élysées and the arch and how amazing it is walk the whole thing and then sit on a bench by the arch & just take it al in. Take your time, start the the Louvre and walk up and enjoy the antics of the crowds on the way. read more
